1. So after adding on taxes and shipping of £55, how would that cost compare if you were to buy a 'similar' spec product in a UK store (I assume the matching headstock is specific to the home Japan market)? I assume this is effectively the same bass? 2.
Aww - is that you handing me the perfect opportunity to use my current favourite emotiwhatsit? This will come as a dreadful shock to you, but hand on heart I was stone-cold sober last night. I am keeping some ridiculous hours in order to communicate with he who is currently 8 hours behind me time-wise I think it is dreadfully naughty of you to suggest that I would have a wee drinky and then get up to no good on here, you may live to regret your train of thought Anyway, back to feedback, as I said before 'shifty' is the word we are looking at here
Aren't men at least 8 hours behind women... even when they are in the same room Now be a good girl and bog off back to 'Off Topic' where you belong . You'll get above yourself posting in other sections and before you know where you are you'll be sprouting complete bass b*ll*cks like the rest of us
  3.
Thanks Guys....... I've bought an Aguilar DB410 (4ohm) Great Box !! Talk about Grunt and Heft, can't wait to use it live Mark
The only bloke I know who can have bought and gotten a cab home before the shop even has the stock on the floor I was in GG tuther day and they were still discussing where to put the Aggie stock! Go on you may as well get back in there and get the 2x10 to save them the trouble of shufftying the gear about and putting it on display
  4.
I think he looks shifty and acts even shiftier To be avoided at all costs.
Judging by the time of your posting and your preposition for alcoholic beverages I'd surmise that you is feeling a bit rough this morning you sauced up lush that you are You're just lucky that I don't have my trusty steed with me otherwise I would have galloped down there and defended my besmirched honour... now I bet you don't have some witty emotiwotsit come back for that do you?
  5. It's far to easy to be pious about people doing stuff like this until you are the person selling an item and you want to get the maximium coverage and offers! FWIW I'd guess it's someone off here grassing that seller up
  6. Seriously good gear and weight is... less than most amp heads! This should fly out.
  7.
the 1000th view bump, how can this happend that 1000 people came on this topic and none wants to by my amp ?
No offence intended with my reply but people will be checking out the Glock name, some will be seeing what £1200 buys them. Unfortunately 300watts and a 1x15 no matter how well respected, is unlikely to illicit a whole heap of offers. I've already expressed an interest in your amp but at that kind of money I could equally purchase ANY of the top manufacturers and (again) unfortunately the name on the front of an amp can mean more than the sound filtering in through the ears Aguilar, Epifani, etc (most of the boutique USA names) will always sell for top money whilst Glock, H&K, Tecamp (the European names) will always struggle to justify the price tag... right or wrong it is just a fact. As the previous owner of a Tech Soundsystems 'Black Cat' amp, I know how you feel. However, if I struggled to sell a state of the art, 1000 watt digital/valve hybrid (which retails at £1600) for £600, I think you may be overestimating the value of your amp in the eyes of others

    Hi

Can't believe it took you so long to get on here Dave Settle back and let the GAS begin
  9. I've fired the amp up today (road works no longer outside and no gennie powering traffic lights) and it seems to be fine. I'll give it a thorough test tonight and then stick it up for sale with the case. Thanks one and all
  10.
I have a Sterling and it's a great bass, I sold it and then it returned and I'm made up by that. Light, small and sooo playable. With a Nordstrand Pickup I'd say it's got the balls of a Ray too!
Ooops Pete then sold this too me (after some badgering). I have to say that I've A/B this with one Ray (may be doing another soon with Marcus) and even the Ray's owner commented that this trumped it... though I have to establish if this is partially down to the Nordie or the maple f'board (Ray had rosewood... or was it Pau Ferro?). If your smaller of stature I think a Ray can dwarf you, whereas the Sterling seems to fit better. Can't comment on the Bongo
  11. If this story turns out to be an urban myth I shall be giving my mate a swift kick in the testes Friend of mine (proper friend not urban myth made up friend) is a Sparkie in a factory and his work mate (also Sparkie) did a bit of wiring work for a studio in Newcastle, he got the fiddle job as he plays a bit of guitar but not in a band or anything. Anyways the studio is being refurbed by the new owner who as it happened was running low on funds but offered this Sparkie a guitar rather than pay him cash but the guy knocked him back as he was happy with his Epi. In the end he takes an old Marshall valve amp which is in need of some TLC (it was cattle trucked), being a Sparkie and quite into valves he accepts this amp as the equivalent to (after some negotiating) £100 worth of work. Gets it home, manages to get it working with a little bit of coaxing but it is still a bit 'poorly', so he gets on to Marshall to ask for some schematics/guidance and availability of a few bits. They asked for the serial number etc to see what they could do... turns out the amp was one of several given to some bloke called Hendrix and may well have found its way into the studio via Chas Chandler. Me thinks he'll get his £100 back from any subsequent sale
  12.
it was immense we just won our heat of battle of the bands cant believe it really. my pedal board died and i had no bass for half the first song and i whacked my bass off the roof but it dosnt matter now.
How bad must the other bands have been? Serious though... congratulations, nice one!
  13.
wow! that Quintin Berry video is so .............. weird!?! What on earth possessed him to even start playing like that???
Maybe he has a bad shoulder
  14. There-in lies the puzzle! It appears there was an initial early edition of 50 fretted 50 fretless that had that signature with the CND symbol BUT they did not have a neck plate. The later run did have a neck plate but the signature was inlaid and different. Bit of an oddball.
  15. Is the price changing and has the cab been sold to Germany then?
  16.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-Thumb-Jack-B...1QQcmdZViewItem Hot or not?
Oddly enough I stumbled upon this by myself! Looks great and the price isn't bad at all BUT I've flagged it up on the Warwick forum because the signature on the body is meant to be a factory inlay and that doesn't look like any CNC machined inlay I've ever seen Added to which under the signature you have a CND symbol... not on the factory produced models you don't Everything else about the bass screams correct but that signature is just well weird. It looks hand 'drawn' as opposed to signed (not flowing). It may be that it is one of JB's own basses (unlikely) that he has signed personally or it was a prefactory run (equally unlikely). I can't figure that one out, hence I've flagged it on Warwick.de but it looks to all other intents and purposes like the real thing!
  17. From recent threads I'd steer clear of Mesa gear. I looked at getting a USA Eden head some time ago and there is an internal mod and fuse change that converts them. Talkbass or the Eden forum (can't remember which) gave the info required. Thunderfunk heads can be modded to.
  18.
So how much is it going for £££???

Such a beauty. Gutted to see these going so "low".
He got £2k for it! ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Well that might buck the trend and get prices moving in the right direction
  19.
I wonder how many people who claim the right to end auctions early feel about buyers who cancel bids, I bet matey boy would be seriously pissed off if someone withdrew the only bid with 13 hours left saying they'd bought a similar item advertised elsewhere instead. These things cut both ways. Mind, if anyone bids at that price I'll show my arse in Harrods window.
Of course you are correct, it does cut both ways and I've had people do it to me before... hence I am philosophical about eBay sales and can see both sides Might be worth putting a bid on just to see the headlines in the paper... <insert appropriate newspaper headline about bassist's ars* here>
  20.
it was a typo that's been corrected - it was 12 grand when the OP spotted it.
Och dearie me! I bet they had a laugh when they spotted that one
  21.
But that doesn't give anyone "the right", they can do it because a rule is not being enforced but that is not someone's "right". My objection was to his use of the term "right", as if it is enshrined in eBay's rules that he can do this.
I've had a search through eBay's T&C's and I can't see anything that says that you can't advertise it elsewhere I'm not trying to be obstructive about what this guy can and can't do (I don't give a flying one) but I have to agree that as far as I would be concerned he does have "the right". I've used pretty much the same wording in many of my eBay sales and what I would be trying to put across is that it's no good anyone getting uppity if I sell this elsewhere because it's my item and I'll do what I like with it... right or wrong I'd not want someone telling me what I can and can't do with my property. You should consider walking a mile in this guy's shoes before taking any umbrage at his wording. Either way I think the consensus is that he's 'unlikely' to get a sale at that price but stranger things happen!
  22.
I've definitely seen an extract from eBays T&Cs that says by joining you agree not to advertise an item on eBay that is advertised elsewhere, the subject came up on the Dudepit a couple of years back. I'll check with eBay & see what they say, should have an answer by 2015 (the year, not the time - you know what eBay are like).
Even if you find something, the caveat that an item is advertised elsewhere is something that has always gone unchallenged on eBay added to which even if you don't state it explicitly on eBay you can still advertise your item where you like and you can end your listing without warning at anytime up to the 12hr deadline.
  23. You'd need to be a BFC to move this BFC Shame someone doesn't have a residency somewhere (do WM clubs still have resident bands/musicians) it would make a stupendous noise.
  24.
...if the offer to buy it came via eBay. You can sell it locally away from eBay if you like.. there's nowt stopping you.
Like what he said You can advertise and sell it where you like and eBay HATE IT! Essentially they can do very little about it and TBH if you were the one selling you'd want to maximise what you got for your item... it's just annoying when you're the one watching (not this particular item) and someone gazumps you with an 'unofficial' offer by the back door! It cuts both ways
