Gutted to see these going so "low".
He got £2k for it! ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Well that might buck the trend and get prices moving in the right direction
 2.
I wonder how many people who claim the right to end auctions early feel about buyers who cancel bids, I bet matey boy would be seriously pissed off if someone withdrew the only bid with 13 hours left saying they'd bought a similar item advertised elsewhere instead. These things cut both ways. Mind, if anyone bids at that price I'll show my arse in Harrods window.
Of course you are correct, it does cut both ways and I've had people do it to me before... hence I am philosophical about eBay sales and can see both sides Might be worth putting a bid on just to see the headlines in the paper... <insert appropriate newspaper headline about bassist's ars* here>
 3.
it was a typo that's been corrected - it was 12 grand when the OP spotted it.
Och dearie me! I bet they had a laugh when they spotted that one
 4.
But that doesn't give anyone "the right", they can do it because a rule is not being enforced but that is not someone's "right". My objection was to his use of the term "right", as if it is enshrined in eBay's rules that he can do this.
I've had a search through eBay's T&C's and I can't see anything that says that you can't advertise it elsewhere I'm not trying to be obstructive about what this guy can and can't do (I don't give a flying one) but I have to agree that as far as I would be concerned he does have "the right". I've used pretty much the same wording in many of my eBay sales and what I would be trying to put across is that it's no good anyone getting uppity if I sell this elsewhere because it's my item and I'll do what I like with it... right or wrong I'd not want someone telling me what I can and can't do with my property. You should consider walking a mile in this guy's shoes before taking any umbrage at his wording. Either way I think the consensus is that he's 'unlikely' to get a sale at that price but stranger things happen!
 5.
I've definitely seen an extract from eBays T&Cs that says by joining you agree not to advertise an item on eBay that is advertised elsewhere, the subject came up on the Dudepit a couple of years back. I'll check with eBay & see what they say, should have an answer by 2015 (the year, not the time - you know what eBay are like).
Even if you find something, the caveat that an item is advertised elsewhere is something that has always gone unchallenged on eBay added to which even if you don't state it explicitly on eBay you can still advertise your item where you like and you can end your listing without warning at anytime up to the 12hr deadline.
 6. You'd need to be a BFC to move this BFC Shame someone doesn't have a residency somewhere (do WM clubs still have resident bands/musicians) it would make a stupendous noise.
 7.
...if the offer to buy it came via eBay. You can sell it locally away from eBay if you like.. there's nowt stopping you.
Like what he said You can advertise and sell it where you like and eBay HATE IT! Essentially they can do very little about it and TBH if you were the one selling you'd want to maximise what you got for your item... it's just annoying when you're the one watching (not this particular item) and someone gazumps you with an 'unofficial' offer by the back door! It cuts both ways

 9. First part of the solo is bass, then keys... but stuff em play it all
 10. I've done upgrades from stock MECs on basses costing into 4 figures and the difference is 'slight'. For a high end bass where you are chasing that smallest bit of difference it might be worth it but with all due respect to the corvette range (I love em), you'd not gain £180 worth of difference and the resale value of the bass wouldn't go up by much more than £30. IMHO not really worth it.
 11.
Call me a stick-in-the-mud, but... Tone / Playability > Manufacturing Quality > Finish > Colour. Or in other words, buy the best sounding / playing one! All else being equal, then choose a colour you like! This coming from someone who has i) Never purchased a (specific) bass I haven't tried in a shop. ii) The Best-sounding collection of aesthetic disasters known to man.
Your just miffed because purple wasn't on the list
 12. Let's hope that this doesn't do for wrist strength what the Opti-grab did for eyesight in Steve Martin's 'The Jerk'
 13. If I sold my house I might be able to get them to do me a fretless so that I could have a matching pair
 14. Almost 30 years of playing and I've not... I'm going to stop right there! I'm not tempting fate, especially with a gig tonight
 15.
is it this one? http://epifani.com/products/club115.php You sell it incredibly low, about half price, any reason? pa
You haven't quite grasped the concept of bagging a bargain yet have you
 16. Let Sibob know about your stack-knob plate, he's after one I believe.
 17.
LMAO Thankyou. I've just coated my keyboard in South African Chenin Blanc. The way your mind works is very disturbing but I like it a lot.
A glass/bottle of wine at 15:46... seems someone has problems other than GAS
 18. If it is a genuine price, most shops will match, though not usually Internet shop prices. Internet suppliers have minimal overheads and sometimes don't even carry the stock they'll just order it from the distributor when you pay them for it.
 19. ... and back it goes! This threads at least getting some attention. Shame no one can give you a better price
 20.
I've not owned an 800RB (yet ) but I was reading the other day that they can make some odd noises - the fix is to put a patch-lead in the effects loop (assuming nthing else is there already). Sounds mad, but it might be worth a try?
I might try that! Cheers. If this one interests you I've got the guy down to a trade in of £240, so that's all I'd want back (+£10 postage). It also has a flightcase but it's not much to write home about.
 21.
It does seem that things are not moving well at the moment but Warwicks seem to be suffering the most. I have my own ideas about why this is and might tread on few toes here. I think, as a company, Warwick have totally lost their way. In the halcyon days they arrived on the scene as a company making instruments to a standard an not a price, they snagged a number of hugely influential endorsees - Jack Bruce & John Entwhistle being the most notable. When you bought a Warwick you were buying a no compromise, hand-made instrument that could compete with any boutique maker out there. Over the years they have pushed in to the mainstream, to the detriment of the instruments they make. I now see a company who's primary goal is no longer to make instruments, it's to make money. The decision to embrace a roster of endorsees that is primarily made up of "metal" players has alienated its original demographic & I doubt the average Slipknot fan has £1k to spend on a bass. The quality of the product has gone from exceptional to merely acceptable; plastic nuts, MEC pick-ups, the current bridge, all have been to cut costs with a corresponding cut in performance. What I see on dealers walls now are decent instruments and I'm sure owners are more than happy with them but I just don't get the "wow" factor I got with the early models. The image of the brand has undoubtably slipped which helps explain why warwickhunt & Woolf have both tried & failed to sell exceptional early instruments despite asking utter peanuts for them. Folk just don't see Warwicks as being special anymore. Interestingly, in the 90s I saw Status heading up the same blind alley, their decision to move to wooden necks alienated their fan base & I seriously feared for their future. It is a big relief to see them back doing what they do best, unique graphite basses with the wow factor that makes them stand out from the crowd.
Your sentiments don't tread on my toes If anything I'd say you are being gracious toward some of the 'issues' (for want of a better word) with Warwick of late. I'm not sycophantic about their basses, I've used them for 20+ years and if there is something about their product that I don't like then I can say what I genuinely feel because I've bought and paid for every warwick I've owned. I've played and owned various Warwick instruments that would stack up against anything produced by any other manufacturer but hand on heart I've rarely played anything from later than about 93 that has made me feel like it was a bass that I'd part with my folding for. I genuinely believe that, like Status (and a lot of other manufacturers), Warwick will find their way again and some of their quality instruments, such as Si's mate's Streamer, will realise their true potential.
 22. Hey maybe I should get in touch with the Gallery or a shop on Denmark St. as I have a Birds-Eye Maple 4 stringer and TBH I'd be looking for £1200 - £1300 for this I really do wish your mate well and hope he gets his price (where-ever it might sell) as it's about time these Warwick prices recovered... and they will.
 23. Hmmm so the action can't be sorted out by traditional set-up methods so you grind down the offending frets... not a great confidence boost for the playability and adjustability of the bass
 24. Hi DBM and welcome! I 'think' what people might be saying is that as a noobie there's probably loads of stuff people would like to know about you before committing to making offers, why not pop over to the 'Introductions' section of the forum and... introduce yourself. It'll probably stop your sale thread getting bogged down with introductions type stuff. Good luck with your sale.
