1. Some info and a phone number here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=howard+bass
 2.
Me as well, been living away from the area for over 12 years now. Say hello to the homeland for me! I just wish the Greggs' down here did stottie cake!
Mmmmm Stottie!
 3.
'Thomann' Every time I read unqualified and broad brush statements like this I wince. I've had a great many dealings with Thomann and they have all been exemplary, basically couldn't have possibly been better. This includes warranty returns of gear. It's not just my good fortune I'm sure. I know all companies get it wrong sometimes but my experience and that of many others dispels your statement. I've had one dealing with GAK, ordered something online and it wasn't in stock. I'm sure they're great most of the time. The impact of sweeping statements on business in a forum such as this can be immense especially for the smaller businesses so I'd ask that we consider our damning statement before blasting them into the internet bass community. No I don't work for Thomann. Peter
re. Thomann - I have to agree with Peter on this one! Bought various bits from them (orders generally under £100) inc a recent order for some Thomastik strings and they arrived 3 days after placing the on-line order. Not bought from GAK as I've generally found cheaper elsewhere.
 4. Hello and welcome (the Geordie chapter expands). We don't bite (well some people will if you ask them nicely) and I'm sure your thoughts and views on the P Jones stuff will be welcomed. re. putting info on as a signature. Go to 'My Controls' (scroll to the top and it's in bold), in there over to the left is Personal Profile and Edit Signature... Robert's your Father's brother!
 5. Private auctions 'can' be a legitimate means of stopping other eBay sellers from contacting you potential winning bidders and offering them a similar item for less money. It used to happen to my sales and I only got wise to it because a couple of genuine eBayers contacted me to say that they'd been approached by the same seller. A bit of judicious detective work and (despite a lot of indifferent eBayers) I established that the same bloke was basically emailing every single person that ever bid on my items and offered them identical items! It can be a cover up to scams but it has valid uses.
 6.
Ah. I was expecting an offshoot from the "The Wife" thread...
Sorry to disappoint!
 7.
The way i feel at the moment i'm temted to bring it over for you cheers steve
You do that and I'll take it! Newcastle isn't that far
 8. That's a lot of cab for not much money! I'm looking for something to leave at our rehearsal space and had this been a bit closer I'd have had it off you... is everyone in Lancashire cabbed out?
 9. The clincher is always to ask if you can call around to have a look!
 10. Barely 2 years old but the new kitchen came complete with an integrated one. Don't want anything for it, I begrudge taking it to some back street outlet so that they can make a wedge off of it! Situated 10 mile North of Newcastle and soz but I won't deliver outside my immediate local.
 11.
H&K gone back home to Silverfoxnik (sorry John)
No worries mate, just giving you options! Haven't had the chance to say 'nice to see you back'
 12.
As you may remeber mate, it's pretty heavy. I know Parcelforce won't touch it.... (which is probably a good thing )
I'll shop about. I was going to take it last time and I'm sure I had a courier that would do it. It'll make a cracking rehearsal room cab!
 13.
The exact twin to my 62RI 82 P bass, I'd be all over this bad boy if it wasn't for the fact that I'm picking up a Sadowsky NYC this very evening.
I had a black with tortie '91 version of this for sale on here last year and even with a brand new J-Retro included I couldn't achieve £600 for it! I hope that prices have recovered as he appears to want £800 for it...
 14. Don't dismiss the Peavey T-Max or I believe there's an old Megabass head on fleaBay... something like £270 inc a Peavey cab (1x15 + 2x10/2x8 or something like that), got to be worth that.
 15. +1 for Peavey. I've only ever owned one of their basses (loads of their PA/Bass amps/cabs) and they are stonking value and generally way better than their price would suggest. Only reason I sold the Peavey bass that I had (on this forum) was because it had a pointy headstock and I don't do the Sarzo poodle haircut these days.
 16.
Simple cure: put them together.
True However we tend to play pubs and clubs and transport our gear divided between the band members cars, so I think one would suffice... in a small venue I'd not be gaining a huge amount doubling them up would I? As an aside (Bill or anyone with PA experience)... we have a pair of 15 year old Peavey Hisys IIs (1x15 with tweeter) that we were going to use with the bin (via an active x-over) but we also have the singers nearly new 300 watt EV 1x12's (not sure of the model). Would there be any pro or con using either of these sets of mid/tops with a bin? I basically feel that the transient response of the EVs and there comparative newness will be of greater benefit than a pair of well gigged 15 year old 1x15s, right or wrong? Obviously I'm going to suck it and see but wondered if there was anything I could be doing to get the benefit from one or the other.
 17.
What's with the public flogging!!
Come on Ped where's the flogging? Someone joins the forum, skips straight to a sale and doesn't exactly make it clear their intention! Nothing to say they can't do that but hardly cricket now is it If we aren't going to have some kind of veto on what noobies can do, then the least we as members can do is point out a person's motives... hardly a public flogging!
 18. Cheers, I'll check those out. As it happens we'll be getting one bin (we'd be struggling with phase cancellation with two as we'd not get them far enough apart) so price of £450 ish is for one bin.
 19.
My Gallien Krueger 200MB (the predecessor of the MB150) and one of the Warwick Thumbs. The GK has been doing sterling service for me for 15 years or so, this Thumb NT is a more recent acquisition.
I had to do a double take on that one... I kept looking and thinking 'that bridge isn't right'; never gave the scale of a 12" speaker next to a 'W' Thumb a thought
 20. We do have to give the benefit of the doubt... but it's an odd first post 4 minutes after joining a forum
 21.
Umm... are you American, by any chance?
... with a Carvin Redline R1000 bass head for sale?
 22. These were brought to our attention on this forum a few months ago (in the eBay section I think)and a few of us bought them. They are absolutely fine and comparable with anything in the £10-£15 (per set) bracket. If you are into changing your strings regularly then they are an absolute no-brainer! Of course they aren't going to convert anyone using DR's or any of the high end strings but I've only stopped using them because I'm trying some of the Thomastik's. I'm sure people may well sneer at the thought of a £5 sets of strings but you need to try them, if you don't get caught up in the snobbery thing they may well be just for you.
 23. It seemed somehow wrong to put this in Off Topic but if it is deemed in the wrong place by all means move it! My band is considering getting a powered bin for the PA and the singer has suggested the DB Technologies Bass Bin (450 watts), has anyone any experience of this or other similar powered Bins for a comparable £450?
