Looks like a £70 - £100 bass at best. Ply body, Sapele/mahogany neck (probably), cheap hardware; the ply and sapele don't make it a bad bass but they do smack of a cheap bass.

Some of these sales of fakes are plain silly and sometimes genuinely misplaced faith... this is neither. The bloke has sold/is selling music gear and has had messages to point out it is not a Fender. However his description and caveats re. 'I know nothing' (done in best Fawlty Towers voice), show he is deliberately misleading; Finder / Fender? To add insult, using a bereavement just feels low!

Due to duty, handling fee, VAT blah blah blah, the rule of thumb is to add 25% to the purchase price (inc used items).

Warwick (Streamer) or Spector (Euro/LX) are comparable and defo fit the bill but there are various other Warwick / Spectors that will do it. However, you could do worse than look at Ibanez (blasphemy considering my user ID) and given a day or two there'll be a list as long as your arm!

Drummer in our band was the drummer of The Toy Dolls. Not a lot of people know that he went on to play for quite a few years with Richie Blackmore!

That's the nature of ebay. Start with a low price and everyone gets excited/hooked hoping they will snag a bargain.

I'm sure the choice of covering basslines as per recording has been covered many times but aside from simply wanting to put your spin on it (I most often do), there is the fact that I play in a 3 piece band, sometimes covering songs performed by 5-6 piece bands is 'potentially' fraught with difficulties. I sometimes ape the rhythm guitar part, maybe the keyboard part, possibly even horns etc. It would be to the detriment of the song to stick religiously to the original.

It really is no different to using a dedicated power amp. Helix out > bass amp return or power in > cab(s). I'm always thinking worst case scenario and I look to build in a back up without having to actually carry 2 of everything. Hence if your Helix glitches at a gig, you can just plug straight into the amp front.

If you are running a mono signal out into a dedicated power amp to run full range, would it not be just as easy to use the send/return - pre/power of a regular bass amp? You bypass the preamp and just have power but with the added advantage that anything going Pete Tong with your Helix, you can still continue the gig with the bass amp.

That's why I should never listen to these isolated tracks; the version I play and made up when I first learned it, is SO different! LOL

Yep, this is a genuine 5 string Squier model.

We did move as it happens Ed but not to the Neuk... we weren't brave enough! I've got a feeling the Streamer Pro M that I was looking at was on FB and I recall the seller claiming it was between 7-8lb. I had my doubts on that but in the end someone else got it. I like the simple lines on those basses but do wonder if I'd have wanted a full blown MM pup rather than the twin Jazz. I'm still watching for an 87/early 88 SSI but I'm in no hurry, the right one will come up eventually.

I'm sure I was close to pulling the trigger on that very bass a couple of years ago. IIRC it is very light weight... yes/no?

I imagine that Warwick may well have been having the same debates when they routed for my 5th Anniversary bass. Twisting them on the axis like that 'might' get you half way between that trad P bass tone and the 'W' growl. Caveat - comparing a NT SSI and a BO P bass is NOT scientific! LOL

Shall I try an experiment... I have a Warwick SSI that has what we are calling the 'reverse' P and I have the same model (a ltd 5th Anniversary bass) but with the standard non-reverse P pup (I'll measure the leading edge). Point of note is that for some reason Warwick decided to slightly angle the pups... maybe they knew it would through up debates in years to come. Only problem is that though the two models are Streamers they aren't the same bass nor will they have the same strings, hence all things aren't really equal in a test.

I had a Fortress with the 2-Tek bridge. Great bass but the bridge added about 2lb to the weight! LOL Is your Pro II black? I've seen less ambiguity with the solid black basses than other colours.
