    Musicman Stingray 3 band EQ - on first powering up has a very faint distortion but which within seconds builds up and after about a minute sound goes off and there is a pulsing tone. Has anyone encountered this before? Fresh battery (twice), leads, cabs and amp swapped and tested so not them. Bass has been stored in its case (sans battery) for about 4 years. Any insight gratefully sought.

    Yes the TC RS 12" cabs 1x12 or 2x12 are deeper than the 10", so the 10's on top sit further back... there's some science time alignment jiggery pokery behind why that works. Saying that I had the 1x12 as well as the 2x10 and for the hell of it I moved the 10's flush with the front; no discernible difference that my ears could hear.

    My TC RS cabs were designed to be stacked either way but I gigged them vertically.

    To be fair I'd not want a quality unit like that to be associated with Ashdown.

    I did something similar back in the late 70's. I took a neglected Marshall 4x12, cut out the baffle and installed a new one with a single 15" speaker. 2 things I later took from this; what the hell was I thinking cutting up a 1960's Marshall cab and who the hell gave me it? I do recall it sounded monstrous. Thiele parameters etc didn't exist back then ( ) but I'm sure the box size exceeded the drivers needs.

    Yes, got one off BC. Not a direct comparison but if Rickenbacker and Musicman collaborated they may have made the Acinonyx neck... what's not to like?

    Thanks for the response. There is a (very) audible difference between the settings/selections. It's just interesting to know what is happening under the hood (in American parlance).

    These were always on my radar to try. Shame I'm amp maxxed otherwise I'd be sorely tempted... or do I push even harder to get rid of my Blacksmith.

    To be fair I've seen pages ripped out of guitar magazines from the 80's go for more than that!

    Can I be a pain? Do you have an 'accurate' weight for this... not on/off bathroom scales?
