My Lekato 5.8kHz have done me well for this last year but I'm upgrading (new band, better gigs) and I'm going all 5.8 and bought the NUX unit and I'm waiting to get my MiPro MI58 IEM delivered.

Sennheiser? I never feel like they need any EQ direct from the desk so it may be the mid dip that I like. -
I've struck lucky in that the Sennheiser 100 factory shape is a 'very' good fit for my ear; other brands just haven't had a good seal and/or have been bulky. My first foray into IE was with the KZ10s but I was having lots of other issues around the whole set up, so the tone of them etc was secondary and I was considering customs. Luckily I hit on the Senn IE and they are a great fit and I like the sound of them (I'd gone back to the KZs and found them a little harsh at similar volumes).

I've just joined a new band (INXS UK) and the need for better (than my £50 Lekato) IEM has me taking the plunge and I've opted for the MIPRO MI58! The package includes MIPRO's own IE which I don't really 'need' but as it was a package deal I couldn't omit them. The good thing is that they are meant to be similar to my now preferred Sennheiser 100s... I shall report back when they arrive.

A quick question for the Mods/Admin - Is there a way to check if there was a problem with the system bouncing/refusing a payment for Basschat 'supporting member' payment? I attempted to pay via my credit card on 30/10 and the payment was denied several times. I contacted my card provider (Santander) and they said it wasn't down to them, it was the BC system that was at fault; I later paid by debit card. I'm now instigating a complaint re my card provider as it has denied more times than accepted over the last few months and they say it is not their system at fault. It would set my mind at ease that there wasn't an inherent fault with the payment system and that it was almost certainly my provider's fault. Ta muchly.

1. I know there are a lot of xVive owners/users/fans but I found the cheap as chips Lekato 5kHz systems (IE and guitar T*/R*) to be better, so I assume it is down to frequency rather than component cost. 2. I've found our CQ12 to be a revelation for quality AND ease of use in comparison to a couple of other systems I've used/been put through. Again not saying it is the best ever by any stretch but I'd not trade up... at this point!

Handy 'possibly' but I've not figured a way to play bass in the mix and adjust controls remotely; I can get by. Not a negative having the 3 controls but it is back to the cost v gain; would I pay several hundred for the benefit? I generally adjust each discretely and as for 'pan'... hmmm not really adjusted that often! LOL

I don't regret getting the 12 but if money were no object the 18 might have been nice to have for the extra channels, I'm not sure for my use whether those 'smart-knobs' would be uber useful.

I have the CQ12 and I have one of the 'buttons' set up as a mute button for the output... just for emergencies.

Not my actual case but I use an almost identical old (vintage) leather case. They can be bought for peanuts, nice and solid, waterproof and you can put all your pedal/bike mag/band stickers on to identify it.

Over the last 40 years I've probably averaged 40 gigs a year (most years) but at a peak I did 84, these were mainly pub gigs. I am guilty of falling into a trap where I thought gig quantity was a measure of how good I was/we were; it took me a LONG time to realise that I'd developed a mind set of 'gigging' being the norm. It isn't now btw! Saying that I'm in 3 bands and a duo now but none of these bands are pub bands per se (tributes to bands I like/love and a band of old best friends) and in the duo I vet pubs/venues as I'm not playing to smacked out cockwombles and idiots.

The final one! Probably my favourite. I managed to surprise someone who messaged me asking if I did the recording with the Hagstrom 8 as it sounds more like a 12er... it was recorded 'live' with a Sandberg P bass and a Boss octave + chorus.

You can record multi-track though I've not done it yet. Feedback reduction/elimination is good... great, as we never get any. Just be sure to NOT leave it running in detection mode after the initial setting, though you can put it in 'live' mode but we've never found the need as it seems to do a good job on initial detection.

Similar position. Duo owns a pair of (used) QSC K10s, my band who jointly bought a (used) FBT 15" sub and a (new) digital desk; all of this gear was paid for within 4 respective gigs and will probably retains most of its value for a few more years. The K10s and a single sub really work for the band in pubs and small/medium clubs... big club rooms are going to need dry hire of more speakers! BTW this is me in the PA and no backline. -

The Mooer pedals have a nice shiny sticker covering the base... rip this off for a start as their own velcro won't stick to it for long!

The 'usual' for me is 90mins, generally divided into 2 x 45. I/We have been asked on occasion to do more or longer sets but this would be agreed in advance and if need be the fee negotiated accordingly. It simply irritates me when everything is agreed in advance (start times, set lengths, finish times etc) and you arrive to be told something different; particularly irksome when you are asked to be sound-checked by a particularly early time and arrive to be told you can't even bring your gear in for another 2 hours or that your agreed 21:00 start is 22:00 (or worse). If this is totally unavoidable and beyond the venues control it is fine but when you then find out that the amended time has been the norm for ages... that just hacks me off. I recall turning up to one pub gig at their requested 19:00 for an 20:00 start to be told they were serving food till 21:00 and THEN we can begin load in. As we were told this a member of staff (who plays in bands) tells us on the QT that they always do this and if it is dead quiet they might even tell the band they are cancelled, when they are doing loads of food orders they just put the band off till after close of service! Erm, no thanks, I'm off away home and you can find an alternative band.

Does he ever meet them again 'after' he has ripped them off? I'm assuming 100% of these people don't know his story when they work with/for him... and then get ripped off!

There is a certain kind of person that will dish out their own justice over being scammed a couple of hundred pound... but this scumbag relies on the fact that they are far and few between and he does it remotely, whereby he has a level of immunity due to someone having to travel distances. However, he will run out of luck one day. I would certainly go out of my way to grass him up if I see one of his shows advertised local to me and I'd be sure to be declaring things via social media (that he can't delete).

In my arsenal (I have occasional shoulder issues) are these light basses. Dano Longhorn (short scale) Hofner Club (SS) Sandberg Lionel (SS) Nordstrand Acinonyx (SS) Maruszczyk Jake (long scale but just over 7lb) Sandberg P bass (LS 8.1lb) Aria Sinsonadia (LS skeleton bass... weighs nothing) I'd recommend any of them but the short scale basses can help in more ways than just pure weight/mass.

It could be argued it is as hard/harder to make a bass out of paper (masonite) than it is to make it out of a block of wood...
