    Not long had this but my GAS fund needs topping up for something I'm hankering for more. I believe it is the 575 Deluxe, I'm sure resident experts will help out. Straight out of the 80's with pointy headstock and glitter finish. The bass looks black but is actually a very (very) dark blue, glitter finish. Jackson branded PJ pups, passive bass with vol/selector switch/tone. Being passive, if you are used to the bigger juice of actives it may seem quiet... but that's what your input gain/master are for. There are only a couple of light marks on the body and some minor finger swirls; one very small ding to the rear of the neck but difficult to photograph. All in all good condition for its age. Price includes shipping in the UK in a basic gigbag; rest assured the bass will be well packaged (see my feedback).     You need to try my Thunderfunk 750 Kev... perfect balance between weight and heft/output. If your feet stay still for more than 12hrs let me know and we'll share coffee!

    My bass is personal (comfort aesthetics as well as tone) but my amp and cab... I'd not put up with cack but there are many good combinations. Oddly if it was down to which one affects my tone the most (ie on stage) the cab could well be the clincher; I could get a decent sound out of most half decent basses (I might not like the look or feel), an amplifier, so long as as it isn't totally pants, should just amplify but the cab you can't do much about. A boxy/nasty cab will ruin anything you put into it.

    IIRC you take off the name plate (x2 screws) and the front is velcro in... strongly! You may need a wide bladed screwdriver and a thick rag (stop damaging the edge of the cab).

    Sorry but that is a ridiculously close copy to the original! Obviously not seen the headstock front or the bridge but if you'd said that it 'was' a Warwick I'd not have argued based on those pics! I don't play 5's or fretless but a bass of that quality for £500 is toooo cheap!

[/quote] Interestingly, I've recently snagged a 575 (may well be my actual bass that I bought new in the 80's) and I was shocked when I compared the output to my Warwicks. I suppose it shouldn't be such a shock and it's like comparing apples and oranges! I'm not going to change the electronics, I'll just need to get used to boosting the amp input.

    Another vote for visiting Halfords or the like; boxes are solid and free! Pretty sure that businesses 'pay' to have cardboard/rubbish taken away (Halfords inc'), so this new policy sounds like fleecing to me.

    I'd need some 'serious' proof it was owned by JB before I paid a tenth of that figure. I see that it isn't a Thumb bass (which might fool idiots as JB did play Thumb basses) and the seller will give you a photo of Jack's collection... but not with this bass I'd guess!

[/quote] Fairly sure the pink Cass Lewis bass had normal dot markers and iirc it did pass through a couple of hands a few years ago!

    Nice early 5er with the 1 piece bridge. Certainly an unusual colour, doubt you'd find another like it!

    I have a Washburn AB20 which I used to use (amplified) with my 'acoustic' band and it is only of aesthetic benefit; I now play an electric bass live... or even in a house rehearsal. :/

    I used to work in cassette duplication (yes I'm that old) and we had reference cassette/amp systems that were left on 24hrs a day week in week out, year after year and I can't recall one failure. Obviously tape heads and belts wore out (we replaced them) but the amps never missed a beat.

Also the whole Germany/Japan 90/91 thing is such a grey area I'd not be swayed by where this 'might' have been produced but just judge it by how it plays. Necks are nice and slim not like the later 90's chunky ones. Oh and the rear pup solo is close to useless... don't let that put you off; the pair work blended or the neck pup solo is good. I own one and kept this over the far more expensive NT Pro I.

[/quote] Possibly but if the 'majority' of the Class D's are using the same module then maybe that is why the generalisation. Also, even where there is variation in the power module used, are they pretty much of a likeness in specification/stats/measurements?

    Used to cover 'In the meantime' when RA was first released... still think we were the only band in the North/NE to cover this back then and it always went down a storm!

    It'll not be an issue, just be sure that the extra mass of the string doesn't rise to far up the tuner shaft and risk the string not seating fully in the nut.
