  1. That looks like it got pretty gnarly. I normally play metal but this week it'll be some old motown classics, not really the right music for getting bloody and nasty!
  2. Thanks. I think I've got some surgical spirit, I'll give it a bash
  3. Methylated spirit? Or the breaking bad sort?
  4. I've been playing a lot more using fingers this week instead of a pick and my index finger tip is really sore now. I would just rest it or use a pick but I've got a jam session Friday where I'll need to play without a pick for probably a good couple hours (I was the only bassist last time). Is there anything I can do for a quick fix?
  5. I used to use daisy chains but got noise issues. I now use a Harley Benton Powerplant ISO 2 Pro. No more noise issues plus I can now run my compressor at 12v instead of 9v which is sounding much fatter. It's also easier to neatly wire on the board and easier to trace and fix faults. I wouldn't go back to a daisy chain.
  6. Price now £550. A bargain. 2012 Sterling Ray35 in honey burst. Completely original and in great condition. Sounds amazing. Alnico pickup, swamp ash body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, 3 band active eq with 3 way coil split. Strings are almost new D'Addario roundwound nickel coated. Tiny ding on the neck (see photos) Weight according to my scales is 4.2 kg
  7. I've seen him sing and drum live. Best for him to stick to just one or the other. It wouldn't be Foo Fighters without Dave up front on guitar and vocals.
  8. There's not many drummers who could do the job. Matt Cameron Maybe, possibly Danny Carey if he can remember how to play in 4:4
  9. Wait and bleed - Slipknot
  10. John the fisherman - Primus
  11. Morning has broken - Jesus and God
  12. Be quiet and drive - Deftones
  13. BBC Radio 6music repeated a show with Steve Lamacq and Taylor Hawkins yesterday evening. They talked about his career and influences and played some of his favourite music. It should be available on iplayer, well worth a listen.
  14. Where dragons dwell - Gojira
  15. Those are some EXCELLENT tunes.
  16. I felt moved when Page stroked my dog.
  17. I wonder whether Foo Fighters will one day be thought of as one of the all time greats with Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen etc. Foo Fighters have a lot of filler material but then so did all the other greats. They're certainly the biggest rock band of their generation. I think they might have lasted longer than some of them, certainly longer than Zeppelin or Queen (with Freddie)
  18. I mostly play with a pick so it's not a problem to play the chords. I found using a thinner pick is helping. I've got surprisingly close to Lemmys tone considering I play a Stingray. Two Notes le bass on the dirty channel plus Darkglass vintage microtubes plus loads of gain on the amp and eq with lots of treble and mids and no bass. All that to get close to what Lemmy gets with just a bass and amp
  19. I'm learning Ace Of Spades. It should be easier than it is. Need to loosen up the right wrist.
  20. That's some nasty sounding bass. I approve.
  21. Boys and girls - Blur
  22. Learn to fly - Foo Fighters
  23. I was at that show. It was extremely obvious that Taylor and Dave were incredibly excited to be playing with their heroes. Jimmy and JPJ seemed to enjoy it almost as much as well.
  24. Albatross - Corrosion of Conformity
  25. The anti Beato
