  1. https://www.takefiveaudio.com/contents/89-cryo This give a good description of the treatment process. It's a bit more than just throwing a lead in a bucket of liquid nitrogen. I noticed that their list of treated custom cables doesn't include instrument leads. I imagine that it's purely for recording. It would be completely pointless in any other situation. Even in a recording situation it's a bit pointless these days since everyone just listens to mp3's
  2. You're only going to really know that the freezing was what's causing the difference if that's the only difference. Maybe the difference you heard was caused by another difference in the cables, maybe it was caused by the freezing.
  3. Was that back to back with two identical cables, one treated and one not?
  4. From what I can find, cryogenic treatment of copper changes the crystalline structure and is often used as a pretreatment for electrical components used in cryogenic conditions such as space. It seems a bit pointless on instrument cables since the constant flexing will have an effect on the crystalline structure and probably end up somewhere near it's pre treatment state. I suspect the main purpose of cryogenic treatment of instrument cables would be to extract money from gullible people. Give them a standard cable, tell them it's treateates and then listen to them waffle on about the incredible detail they can hear with it.
  5. Millionaire - Queens Of The Stone Age I know it's not really word association, it's just another song with the same name but I like this song.
  6. LSD is a he'll of a drug. They must have had a lot!
  7. True. I just feel our shares should reflect the amount of work each of us puts in. I'm not sure I deserve the same as the singer / guitarist
  8. They're 80% written by the time I get the song. I add in a few fills and make a couple alterations here and there.
  9. The song writing in our band is done by the singer / rhythm guitarist. He insists that when/if we make money everyone gets an equal share. I'm not entirely comfortable with this because he puts in so much more work than I do. He writes, records, mixes, arranges, sings and plays guitar. I just turn up and play bass. I want to suggest to the other band members that instead of 25% each, we make it 20% for each and the singer gets 40%. I'd just be more comfortable with that. Obviously I'd be happier if there was an equal share of work but I can't sing, write or do the technical stuff.
  10. Celestion over the last week. I bought a couple IR's from them and they email me the entire Internet.
  11. Aren't all bass guitars niche? Who looks at rock bands on TV and thinks "I don't want to be the cool one shredding away and running around the stage, I want to be the the one at the back who plays root notes and only gets the girls (or boys) guitarist and singer rejected"? It's not the most popular instrument.
  12. Thanks for the tips. Since there's no wild disagreement I've gone and ordered a couple from designacable. Van damme cable (in a nice shade of green) with neutrik plugs (in red for a horrible clash)
  13. I was looking on Andertons earlier to get some new leads and prices range from cheap to bloody expensive. Is there actually any difference in reality?
  14. My local usually has two basses in stock around £300 each. He said he's tried stocking more variety of basses but they don't sell and he gets stuck with stock he can't afford to have hanging around. He's got loads of guitars, violins and ukuleles in stock. I guess bass isn't popular enough. He also doesn't have much stock of lots of other instruments so it's not just discrimination against bass
  15. This has gone severly off topic but who doesn't like the charming Ms Lawson
  16. How dare you. Take that back. She is a goddess and would never use sprouts.
