You're only going to really know that the freezing was what's causing the difference if that's the only difference. Maybe the difference you heard was caused by another difference in the cables, maybe it was caused by the freezing.

From what I can find, cryogenic treatment of copper changes the crystalline structure and is often used as a pretreatment for electrical components used in cryogenic conditions such as space. It seems a bit pointless on instrument cables since the constant flexing will have an effect on the crystalline structure and probably end up somewhere near it's pre treatment state. I suspect the main purpose of cryogenic treatment of instrument cables would be to extract money from gullible people. Give them a standard cable, tell them it's treateates and then listen to them waffle on about the incredible detail they can hear with it.

They're 80% written by the time I get the song. I add in a few fills and make a couple alterations here and there.

The song writing in our band is done by the singer / rhythm guitarist. He insists that when/if we make money everyone gets an equal share. I'm not entirely comfortable with this because he puts in so much more work than I do. He writes, records, mixes, arranges, sings and plays guitar. I just turn up and play bass. I want to suggest to the other band members that instead of 25% each, we make it 20% for each and the singer gets 40%. I'd just be more comfortable with that. Obviously I'd be happier if there was an equal share of work but I can't sing, write or do the technical stuff.

Aren't all bass guitars niche? Who looks at rock bands on TV and thinks "I don't want to be the cool one shredding away and running around the stage, I want to be the the one at the back who plays root notes and only gets the girls (or boys) guitarist and singer rejected"? I was looking on Andertons earlier to get some new leads and prices range from cheap to bloody expensive. Is there actually any difference in reality?

My local usually has two basses in stock around £300 each. He said he's tried stocking more variety of basses but they don't sell and he gets stuck with stock he can't afford to have hanging around. He's got loads of guitars, violins and ukuleles in stock. I guess bass isn't popular enough. He also doesn't have much stock of lots of other instruments so it's not just discrimination against bass

I'm getting worried reading this. I got a new harley benton and the fretboard was super dry, to the point where it felt rough. I put on some lemon oil and half an hour later it felt better but still not great so I put some more on and now it feels super smooth but not oily at all. Could I have over done it and set up future problems?
