  2. War Pigs - Black Sabbath
  3. Jesus Built My Hotrod - Ministry
  4. Most metal bass tones sound horrible in isolation but mix in a couple guitars and some drums and you've got something that works. A tone which sounds great in isolation could be lost in the mix
  5. I think all of them except the last Flea example and the inaudible Jason Newstead sounded great in their mix and that's all that matters. I think even Fieldy's bass sounds right in context . He has said in interviews that he really hates the sound of bass guitars so what he is trying to do is percussion with some low end rumble. I can't stand Korn but I get it. Newstead sounded great but you just couldn't hear him. As usual, Lars was the problem. As a side note, anyone else noticed that his appearance is getting more like old Stewie Griffin from Family Guy?
  6. Happy Talk - Punk rock legend Captain Sensible I hope Vanian gave him a good kicking for this song
  7. I'd rather listen to any of them "holding down the low end" than listen to Scott's pointless noodling and talking rubbish about his day.
  8. Into the void - Sabbath
  9. A Forest - The Cure
  10. All hallows eve - Type O Negative
  11. I was disappointed by Arrows as well. It just seems a bit weak compared to Murder The Mountain and Only Ghosts
  12. English curse - Frank Turner
  13. New Rose - The Damned
  14. Is meth like wine where you get different varieties in different regions?
  15. I think it's been quite a good year for new music. Another favourite from this year is Distant Populations by Quicksand.
  16. I need to give it a few more listens. I enjoyed it but didn't think it was amazing.
  17. Sh*tlist - L7
  18. This isn't intended as an argument about whether Jedward's drums are mixed better than Mastadon's. Just what was your personal favourite album released in 2021. For me, there's no competition, it has to be Fortitude by Gojira It reminds me of Sepultura's Roots album, lots of South American influences showing through and incredible drumming. The overall sound is massive. Definitely one to play loud. Possibly my favourite metal album of the last decade. What's your album of the year?
  19. D**k - Guano Apes
  20. Glen Danzig and the Temptations Absolutely superb
  21. Back in Black - AC/DC
  22. Snakes for the divine - High On Fire
  23. At the zoo - Simon and Garfunkle
  24. Rusty Cage - Soundgarden
  25. Thanks. I think I'll probably get one. The headphone amp will be useful so I can't hear how much better than me she is!
