  1. Avenues and Alleyways - Rancid
  2. White Lines - Duran Duran
  3. I'm really excited about it. I've not seen them live before. I'm expecting something like Motorhead, loud, raw and rough but tight and heavy and a big wall of sound
  4. Genesis - Deftones
  5. A brilliant song in an absolutely brilliant film. Burn by The Cure in The Crow.
  6. Freebird has probably been used in dozens of films and understandably so. This use of the song, in my opinion is brilliant, I couldn't think of a better match for the scene. One of my favourite films as well. The acting isn't great, the plot is ropey but it's just a really horror entertaining film. Judgement Night probably has the greatest heavy metal soundtrack ever recorded for a film. Shame the film was terrible though.
  7. Guerilla Radio - Rage Against The Machine
  8. Demon Cleaner - Kyuss
  9. Definitely tell them, they deserve to know. The problem is that goof drummers are hard to find so it might take you a while to find a replacement and you may not actually get out and gig any sooner than waiting for your current drummer.
  10. Funeralopolis - Electric Wizard
  11. Shooting Star - Gojira
  12. Have you heard the Gang of Four tribute album, The Problem of Leisure? It is absolutely superb and there's some really amazing musicians on it.
  13. Thinking about it, rock music is an extremely vague description as well which covers everything from Aerosmith to Cannibal Corpse to Combichrist to Chuck Berry.
  14. Does pop music really have a definition beyond being music to appeal to the masses? Most other genres have a specific sound but pop doesn't really have that. It can use any instruments, have lyrics about any subject, could be major or minor and could take influence from any other genre.
  15. Strange Brew - Cream (of tomato)
  16. Definitely agree on originality dating slower. Albums like Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Angel Dust, Songs For The Deaf, Pretty Hate Machine and maybe Fat of The Land still sound fresh because they don't have a sound associated with a specific era. They have their own sound. I'm sure there are similar examples in most genres.
  17. As a huge metal fan I'd disagree about iconic metal bands not aging (Sabbath excepted). Metal has changed massively over its half a century life. There are bands like Airborne and Steel Panther who are still making that 80's metal but there's a good amount of nostalgia involved in what they do. Even comparing 80's Metallica to modern Metallica or 80's Slayer to modern Slayer, the old stuff is better in my opinion but it does sound dated.
  18. Black Sabbath still sound current, mostly because there are so many doom bands still trying to sound like them.
  19. Definitely not suitable for metal although a substantial steel underwire might help.
  20. I get that. It seems like around here they'll say they want to play metal or punk and you get there it they want to play Nickelback and Sum41. Either that or they send a song list and you get there and THEY don't know the songs and the couple they do know they don't play the best bit because they can't play it.
  21. Going Blind - Melvins
  22. Stupid Girl - Garbage I loved this song back in the 90's and not just because I fancied Shirley Manson. I was barking up the wrong tree there.
  23. I think it looks quite nice but then beauty is in the eye of the beerholder
  24. For something which is similar but different, there's the Retrovibe Telenbacker. I think these look awesome and they sound pretty good as well.
  25. A boy named Sue - Johnny Cash
