  1. I tried straight to amp and then tried a large pedal board and have settled on a simple pedal board with a tuner, fuzz, compressor and dual channel tube preamp. A really good quality compressor is really useful, I use an Origin Effects Cali76 to sharpen the attack and level out the volume. The preamp is great for shaping tone and adding a bit of drive.
  2. There was a government enquiry in to it a few years ago but it all just went away for reasons entirely unrelated to the Ticketmaster director donating a large amount to the tory party.
  3. This passes me off and it's the main reason I don't bother going to see big bands anymore. Usually the original ticket seller is sold out as soon as it goes on sale but then look on ticket ticketmaster and they've got hundreds of tickets as long as you don't mind paying at least double the face value of the ticket. Before the world ended I tied getting tickets for Faith No More at Brixton. Sold out before they went on sale and four times face value on ticketmaster.
  4. The HB ISO 2 looks like it'll do the job. Is there a voltage selector switch for the 9/12/18v sockets?
  5. It's fate! My band split today, two members moving away. I'm not what you'd traditionally call sexy but I'm not without my charms and my waistline is sufficient evidence that I have chops (or at least I did have)
  6. It's a big step up from the old bolt on neck Epiphone t bird. Oddly there's not a big difference in used prices between vintage pro and the old Epiphone with bolt on neck
  7. A friend of mine has just sold his vintage Gibson Les Paul and replaced it with an Epiphone 355. He absolutely loves the 355 and says that other than slightly cheaper feeling tuners and bridge (both of which function perfectly well) it's just as good as a US built product. I think to be honest, in making the Epiphone products so good, Gibson have really shot themselves in the knob.
  8. When I bought my Thunderbird I went to the shop with the intention of buying a Gibson which was discounted to £1500. I tried it and liked it then just out of curiosity I tried the Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird which was £499 and thought there really wasn't a grand worth of difference. I preferred the sound of the Epiphone as well so I went home with that and the shop dude was regretting mentioning how good the Epiphone was. I've also seen recent photos of Alice Cooper's bassist playing the Epiphone for live shows.
  9. @jrixn1 thanks for the tip, I'll try that.

    Preamp

I'm using the Two Notes Le Bass preamp. It sounds fantastic. There's a clean and dirty channel plus the option to blend them in parallel or series. It's a tube preamp and has a great tone. It also has a cab sim on the XLR output which should work well with a PA
  11. Hi. I'm looking for a new power supply which will power all my pedals and I'm not doing too well finding one. I need the following supplies: 4x 9 volt standard 1x 18 volt 100ma 1x 12 volt 500ma It's the 12v 500ma that seems to be unusual
  12. I notice in the article it quotes Glenn Hughes saying "it's good enough to record with" but doesn't go as far as saying he'd record with it. Maybe it's good enough for amateur bassists working on their projects. It's got an XLR output with cab sim which would be useful.
  13. Really? I had a Crush 100 and it was a nice enough practice amp but certainly no studio amp. It had some really wooley distortion.
  14. It may be worth trying a slimmed down board. Even pedals with a claimed true bypass can effect your signal.
  15. I can't imagine Glenn Hughes would have a 50w solid state combo on stage. Even if it is purple.
  16. I really wanted a Orange 4x10 and a green Matamp 4x10. I think I might need a purple Orange 4x10 as well now. Maybe a heading each colour as well.
  17. No. Stingray's and a Thunderbird. I only play basses from the Gerry Anderson range. I did calculate it to 8 decimal places but thought that was a bit too much so rounded it to a more sensible 5 dp.
  18. I paid £4.82 for a pack of 12 picks, that's 0.40167 pence per pick. I'm not drilling holes in them and devaluing them. I'm not a super rich rock star like you.
  19. It's really nice. Really glad I bought it. I don't know if this is a particularly good one or they're all this good.
  20. I'd open it up and check the internal fuse(s). Depending on the value of it, it may be worth taking it to an amp technician. I just had the complete 300w power section replaced in my amp plus uprated cooling fan and extra heat sinks for £130
  21. Keep at it. One day you'll achieve that dream.
  22. It's very average. It sounds too much like too many other songs. Bland at best
  23. I've recently changed from Ableton to Reaper. Ableton was good but my basic laptop runs a lot better with Reaper which seems to use a lot less power and is more intuitive. Reaper is also a lot cheaper for the full version which is only £60.
  24. I also use a pick and take out a lot of mids on the eq. I find there's too much punch with a flat eq and I'm taking the same space that the guitars are in.
