  1. Thanks and I'll be sure to send you back stage passes for our Glastonbury headline show.
  2. God save the Queen - Sex Pistols
  3. I think it's a bit more difficult because the last band I was in was really good. Everyone showed up on time, knew the songs, brought spares strings etc, had ideas to share and they could really play. I think the material and talent in the band was good enough for us to get some good gigs and make a decent record. Unfortunately, two members had to move away and that killed it. Trying to find another band of that standard is going to be tough.
  4. New Rose - The Damned
  5. One thing I've learnt is not to bother with any new projects that don't already have a drummer. It seems like there's no good drummers available. That and avoid heavy pot smokers, even if they're nice people it's really frustrating when they're an hour late every rehearsal because they lost their keys, guitar, trousers, car (all genuinely used excuses from one pot head) plus you have to listen to their crazy ideas about the government controlling us.
  6. Wait and bleed - Slipknot
  7. Knife Party - Deftones
  8. Not much of our structural steel comes from the US because they don't make British sections. Most of our structural sections come from China via Europe.
  9. Not a Busted man?
  10. Definitely not due to brexit. Definitely not that. Absolutely definitely not brexit. According to the Farage fan at work anyway.
  11. I just looked on joinmyband and the first three bands to come up in my area looking for a bassist are Busted tribute, Nickelback tribute and Coldplay tribute. Unacceptable
  12. Reggae/ska or stoner/doom are king of opposite ends of the musical spectrum.
  13. Where's the best place to look for bands who need a bassist? I've been looking for a few months with no success. On bandmix it seems to be all pop punk or folk bands and I hate pop punk and folk.
  14. Let it die - Foo Fighters
  15. We're struggling to get steel, stainless steel and copper at work because of materials shortages. According to one steel supplier, its near impossible to get anything from the big stockholders in Europe now. We're getting loads of orders but can't make anything.
  16. I love playing loud at rehearsal. There's something satisfying about that wall of sound from 3 sets of big amps and a loud drummer. The cab contributes quite a lot to the sound, I think distortion sounds horrible if it doesn't go through a good cab.
  17. Avenues and alleyways - Rancid
  18. Moon over Marin - Dead Kennedys
  19. Planets 1 & 2 - Vista Chino
  20. Digging the grave - Faith No More
  21. Robot fingers
  22. I think the main thing to remember is that as long as it's not slap it's all good.
  23. Forget picks? The bloody things end up everywhere. I recently took the dash board out of my car and found a couple yellow tortex picks in there. Every pair of trousers or coat I own seems to have them in the pocket. I can't escape the brightly coloured triangular bastards. I play both styles (never slap, I hate slap) and both have their benefits. There is something about fingers and fuzz that I particularly enjoy.
  24. Certainly Pick: Fugazi - Waiting Room Deftones - Rocket Skates Deftones - Ohms Megadeath - Holy Wars Tool - Stinkfist Fingers: Kyuss - 50 Million Year Trip Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis Sleep - Dragonaut Audioslave - Like a Stone Both in the same song : All Them Witches - When God comes down Some bassists (Geezer Butler for example) play with fingers but hit the strings really hard so get a really sharp attack without a pick.
  25. For me it depends on the specific song. Some songs work best with the attack of a pick, some sound better with the subtlety of fingers.
