  1. I want to hear a Christian black metal band. Buddhist grundcore would be interesting as well.
  2. Hold on, religious punk is a thing? How does that work? How can you be non conformist and follow a religion?
  3. Are there any compressor pedals other than the Cali 76 that are based on the 1176 studio compressor?
  4. For crust punk, dreadlocks and a complete lack of personal hygiene are essential. You should be offended by the smell when you see a photo of them
  5. Typical punk tone - use whatever kit you find in a skip and hit it hard with a home made pick while jumping around.
  6. Mine isn't as loud as my Orange 500 watt head. I'm not sure what effect the different impedance has on that though.
  7. I'm definitely thinking the problem is my Trace 1x15. I've done some research and it seems they're really inefficient speakers plus it's over 30 years old. I'm going to try a modern Celestion speaker in that cab to hopefully draw less power.
  8. The last singer I played with was a hippy woman who stank of patchouli, when she actually bothered to turn up for practice. She lived in a caravan and didn't have a shower so covered herself in patchouli. It got a bit overwhelming in a small rehearsal room. Good singer though.
  9. My favourite Tool album is Fear Inoculum. I think there's some of their best work on there, Pneuma is as good as anything they've done. Aenema is a close second though.
  10. A bit of research has show up that the Trace 1x15 cab I'm using is really inefficient, plus 30 years use won't have helped. That could be contributing to my problems. I think I'll try putting in a modern Celestion Pulse 15. It should be a straight swap and use a lot less power.
  11. It sounds good alongside the rhythm guitar and drums. Haven't had chance to try it out with the lead as well. I'm just thinking it might change quite a bit with my new Stingray Ray35 which has a lot more balls than my SUB5 at the bottom end.
  12. That's really cheap. I'll take a look at them
  13. He's playing baritone rhythm guitar and the lead guitarist is tuned to drop A# as well so they're both pretty low.
  14. To prevent ticks going in his pits?
  15. Manual?? I haven't got one of them. I'll try your EQ tips and see how it goes. Maybe letting the guitarist adjust my EQ while I was bashing out some Stooges was a mistake, it does sound good with these settings.
  16. Lynx Africa, the scent of virginity
  17. This is exactly how I'm running the EQ. Input gain at 6 and output at 8.5
  18. The farting isn't due to volume. It's only if I try turning up the gain. Doesn't matter whether the output is on 3 or 9 it still farts at high gain settings. The cabs probably are inefficient but they do sound good.
  19. I won't miss out on the Terror, I've got one. It's a great amp but cranked loud the Trace just sounds better. I love the Terror at home with my little 2x12 cab but with a 4x10 and 1x15 it just doesn't sound as good. I certainly wouldn't be against a bigger Trace head. I'd be open to full valve but I think in my price range, valve pre amp and mosfet power is probably the best I'll get I've got to get past two guitarists with big bi amp setups and a loud drummer which I think is why I end up so loud.
  20. Sorry, valve amps
  21. I've just listened to the new song and it's a good song but considering it's from the same band who did Number Of The Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name it's just not anywhere near their best work.
  22. As much as I love the sound of my Trace Elliot GP12SMX head I really need something with some more head room and some more gain. It's only 280W and it sounds amazing clean but just farts when you push the gain up. I'm running two cabs, a 4x10 and 1x15, both 8 ohm and both 320 watt. I'm looking for suggestions for a head which will give me a bit more gain and more power but with a decent built in EQ. I'd prefer a MOSFET to class D power section just because it's proper components that can be repaired if it dies. Does such a thing exist for £300 - £500? Maybe an old Peavey or Ashdown or a bigger Trace?
  23. That was cheap. I'll keep checking the classifieds
