  1. If I played Jesus Built My Hotrod in my car I'd end up in prison but on the bright side, Id finally find out its top speed on the downside, I don't want to learn how to keyster a shank.

Demon Cleaner by Kyuss. Accused of being satanic by religious groups, read the lyrics and it's clearly about brushing teeth.
  3. Nope. Metal is what I listen to most but even then I don't like Korn or any of the other bands who play nearly all slap. I just dislike the sound of slap other than where used as a percussion effect (Epic by Faith No More for example). That's just my particular taste. Im not saying its bad, just that I dislike it. I'm sure many people dislike the heavily overdriven bass sound I like.
  4. I've tried it and can play a few Rage and FNM songs which have a little slap but never tried any songs with lots of slap because there aren't any I like.
  5. Fair although they're pleasant enough to watch, I just don't want to hear them.
  6. I'll be honest, Id rather watch Davie 504 than Scott Devine. Scotts lessons are really boring (I tried them for a couple of months) his very rare videos where he talks about metal bassists contain a lot of what can only be described as bollocks and some say he has never finished a sentence without saying "holding down the low end" at least 8 times.
  7. You didn't slap like?
  8. Davie 504 has a lot to answer for
  9. There's definitely a place for it and I think a few musicians have perfected using it sparingly. Billy Gould is the best example I can think of, he mainly uses slap just when his part is more percussion with a little tone rather than melodic. Tim Commerford uses slap very sparingly but for some reason, I've seen bassists cover his bass lines with slap start to finish and it sounds terrible.
  10. Am I the only person who plays bass and generally hates slap? I think it can sound good when used sparingly (like Billy Gould or Tim Commerford) but I hate songs which are just slaps and pops all the way through. I really dislike songs which weren't slapped covered by a bassist who plays slap all the way through. I don't even like Primus. Am I on my own with this?
  11. Is the pick guard made from tone plastic?
  12. 46 & 2 by Tool with Justin Chancellors on bas State of Non Return by Om with Al Cisneros on the electric bass guitar Tom Sawyer by Rush bass by Geddy Lee War Pigs by Black Sabbath. Geezer Butler on bass, the greatest man ever to pick up a bass.
  13. Thanks. Might be worth getting a wiring kit made up to try it
  14. I've got a old Peavey Zephyr which had a pair of 4 wire humbuckers. I've been told by someone that I could wire the wire a switch to switch between single coil and humbucker. Is that correct and what could I expect it to sound like as a single coil? Would it sound a bit crap or would I get a jazz bads type sound.
  15. I like your idea. I could put the cab next to my old neighbours house. Revenge for his ultra loud tv and open windows every evening
  16. They are a great band but I actually enjoyed their original stuff more than their Ramones covers.
  17. High sales rarely mean good music. Just as Jedward, Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer
  18. My wife sends out several parcels a day with Hermes and not had a single problem. It probably helps that our local driver is pretty decent.
  19. Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus, by far his best known solo record. Nothing like the rest of his music. It was a pile of toss while the rest of his solo records were complete and utter toss.
  20. Well I went for Stinkfist. Not too tricky at all. A couple odd rhythms but generally not difficult and really good to play. Schism next I think.
  21. Im rebuilding my garage and intend to sound proof it. Trying to use as much reclaimed material as possible though and getting held up with the windows. It'll be good when finished My neighbours are part deaf but even with the super thick 1920's walls it still rattles their light fittings. They'll never complain but I don't like to push it.
  22. I've just changed from a 1mm pick to 0.6mm Tortex. Im really liking the extra flex in it. I started out with a 3mm Dunlop stubby and keep going lighter.
  23. I asked because I play in an original metal band and because we don't have a lot of material we're going to play a couple less well known covers by Eyehategod and Down but because we have only one guitar Im thinking we'll need to make some changes, I might play a mix of bass and rhythm parts
  24. When learning covers do you try to copy the original exactly or do you sometimes simplify or change or add bits?
  25. Not too recent then! I found them through a tutorial by Beholden To The Riff on YouTube. He usually specialises in doom metal but did a tutorial on this song.
