  1. Mannequin Pussy are excellent. A lovely bit of 90's style alt rock with a fair hint of grunge and even the odd bit of New York hardcore
  2. I missed all that! I used to think Dev wasn't much good as a bassist, he never plays anything particularly interesting. With everything else going on, his metronome like timing and simple root notes are exactly what the songs need.
  3. I saw a bit of them. Bland, lifeless and lower and slower than the original versions. I don't think any of them sang on the original recording. The band were doing a decent job.
  4. Wasn't he playing Jazz basses?
  5. Idles headlining the other stage. Beautiful chaos. Absolutely brilliant.
  6. I'm in Frome, Somerset. We get a lot of great bands. We've had Foo Fighters, McCartney, Skindred, The Damned, The Stranglers, Frank Turner and many others. Coldplay are in the venue setting up right now. Tickets are selling at record speed for the train out of town.
  7. I just started looking at those and the Rocker 15 this morning. The Rocker has a bedroom switch which takes it down to 1 watt for high dirt at low volume
  8. The guitarist in my daughters band has a Katana. It's OK but doesn't seem to like pedals. I'd not thought about the volume although I know some can be switched to lower power so you can get all the dirt at a low volume
  9. The youngest offspring has been practicing really hard recently so I thought it's about time for an upgraded guitar amp. I'm thinking a used 1x12 valve amp. What's a good value used buy? Something that works with pedals and has plenty of dirt. She loves punk and metal.
  10. Eyes of the south - Down
  11. The new Julie Christmas album. Absolutely brilliant. Johannes from Cult of Luna is on guitar and occasional vocals. It really reminds me of the Mainer album
  12. They certainly will. I had to get one after playing a gig through one when my Orange died. These amps sound fantastic and are super reliable. I don't have a bass anymore so have no reason to keep it.
  13. It's cheap but it's what I paid for it so I'll pass it on at no loss
  14. Both the same price, £120 each. Both work as they should. The B3K was recently repaired by a local amp tech and had a new foot switch (common failure). Both are early ones, hand built in Finland.

  15. Eden Nemesis cab 2x10 Works as it should. Some signs of age but it sounds great
  16. I've seen NOFX a few times. Half their set is chat but somehow it's not annoying. Any other band it gets annoying. Especially when Machine Head did it, no one wants to hear Rob Flynns life story.
  17. On A Rope - Rocket From The Crypt
  18. A friend of mine is an ex pro prog and death bassist who loves jaco. He was always trying to learn jaco covers. I think all great musicians have an appreciation for the very best who played their instrument. I could never get in to jaco but I was crap
  19. He's still in Infectious Grooves. They're still active.
  20. At the end of my last ever gig with my originals sludge metal band, someone asked us to play Millionaire by Queens Of The Stone Age. At this point we were half packed away plus we don't know how to play the song plus we don't do covers. Plus we were set up two whole tones too low (the song has lots of open string based riffs). Plus we had to get off the stage so the headliner could set up. Apparently none of those excuses were good enough and we were unreasonable.
  21. Ashdown ABM600 EVO IV in great condition and including a gig bag
  22. Great venue although the sound is much better on the floor than up on the balcony. It's not bad on the balcony though
  23. A mate of mine had a pretty similar experience. Not good and less than half the punters made it to the end
  24. I saw them on the NINJA tour with Nine Inch Nails. They weren't great but looked like they wanted to stab each other
