  1. Is a Fender or Gibson or Music Man really worth three or four times more than an often better made Ibanez or something else which often sounds as good? My Ibanez SRMS805 is the nicest made bass I've owned, it has a huge tonal range and it plays really nicely but cost £900 new and I picked it up used for half that in as new condition. I'd happily pay more for one of these than another Fender.
  2. Touch me I'm sick - Mudhoney
  3. Tuesday night, Mondo Generator supported by Nomad Lizard at Cobblestones in Bridgwater. I'm excited for this one
  4. My daughter is dyslexic and knows the notes on her fret board. I am not dyslexic and don't know them. My excuse is I use so many different tunings they're always in different places. It's rarely a problem.
  5. Definitely some FNM in there. The quiet, jazzy breaks in between heaviness is very FNM
  6. I've found my challenge for now. Mother Sky by Twelve Foot Ninja I come across this while looking up Strapping Young Lad songs as recommended by @BreadBin Sometimes youtubes recommendations hit the spot.
  7. I have a particular dislike for that term. What makes something "real music"? What music is not real music? Is it a real thing or just snobbery? Metal fans are particularly guilty of this sort of thing, arguing over what's real and what isn't.
  8. This was the song I'd previously heard her on. Just disgraceful. Like they tried to create the most stereotypical pop punk song with the worst lyrics. I've no idea why Travis Barker agreed to play on it.
  9. Well that's a change for the last disgrace of a song I heard her on. Emo Girl by Machine Gun Kelly. Look it up, it's as far from this as it gets.
  10. Going blind - Melvins
  11. I've owned a few Sterling Stingrays and played a Sire V7. I don't think it's a case of one being a better bass than the other, they're different basses which are intended to sound different. The Sire V7 is more comparable with the Sterling Ray34 in terms of quality although closer to the Ray 4 in terms of price. The Ray HH models do sound different to the Ray H even when you select just the one pickup. Personally I prefer the single pickup H models.
  12. As much as I like my Ibanez, I find the tone straight out of the instrument really bland but it's s really great starting point to build on with effects.
  13. A tuner would make the pedal too big to fit on a board with other pedals. To have a tuner as well, you'd need an extra foot switch and that needs to be a reasonable distance from the other switches or you'll stomp on the wrong one by accident and suddenly the audience gets sad because there's no bass which means they can't dance and then they get angry and start fighting and throwing furniture. So basically, no tuner for safety reasons.
  14. Why does it have to be your only pedal? Surely you'll be needing a tuner and then you may as well get a nice overdrive and while your building a board, you best add a fuzz and why not put on a phaser, delay and chorus. I'd probably put an EHX POG on there as wel
  15. I wouldn't want either to be honest. If you want a really decent preamp with a great DI and a really nice gritty overdrive, a huge range of tones then get yourself a Two Note Le Bass or the new Two Notes Revolt. You can pick up a used Le Bass for around £150
  16. Woolworths. Since they stopped selling records and pick & mix, they're dead to me. What could be better than a shop where you can buy the latest Def Leopard single on cassette and a little bag of jelly beans and chocolate mice.
  17. I didn't think of that. FF will be a bit of a speed test as well
  18. I see you spotted my typographical error.
  19. I'm trying to push myself with some more tricky covers on the 5 string and trying to find interesting metal songs originally played on a 5. Any suggestions?
  20. Adele, her entire back catalogue. Every song seems to be about getting dumped. Not a single song about cooking a full English or having a booze fueled horizontal dancing session after a night out. Maybe there's a link there.
  21. Last night I saw New Model Army in Bristol. Excellent performance. The bassist appears to have an unusual picking technique, I've not seen anyone else picking that close to the bridge.
  22. Maxwell Murders by Rancid The greatest ever punk bass line
  23. Commodore Business Machines. They were the future of electric computer technology. Dead to me now. Dead
  24. I saw them in Bristol several years ago. That's kind of their thing. Loads of smoke and even less chords than Status Quo. I'm not sure they're really doom, it's more like experimental soundscape type stuff.
  25. British Leyland are dead to me.
