  1. Not quite post metal but close enough. I love a bit of Elephant Tree. I'm loving the new album. Incredible bass tones. https://tidal.com/album/364497479?u
  2. Friday night I'm going to the Marble Factory in Bristol to see Chelsea Wolfe. If you're not familiar with her, have a listen.
  3. Smasher / Devourer - Fear Factory
  4. The Wizard - Black Sabbath
  5. My daughters band played four or five outdoor festivals this year. It was great, we made it a full day out each one, watched loads of bands, met loads of musicians, nerded out over gear, they enjoyed playing to bigger than normal audiences, hundreds watching them instead of a small crowd in a pub and they got more bookings out of each one.
  6. @BigRedX Arctangent Festival, run by James in the podcast always gets at least one day of heavy rain but sells out (10,000 tickets) every year. Its possibly helped by being a small site with all stages in tents so there's not much trudging about outside. He said in one episode he doesn't want to go bigger, he doesn't see it being profitable if he has to book bigger bands. I think all the most successful UK festivals are outdoors despite the weather. Glastonbury seems to do OK and is often soaked.
  7. @jonno1981 the costs are pretty shocking. It must be tricky to make it all add up to a small profit
  8. DC Comics and Chocolate Milkshake - Art Brut
  9. I've been listening to this podcast for a while now. I find it really interesting hearing about the music industry from a promotors point of view, hearing their challenges, difficulties and the positives. Anyone else here a listener?
  10. Mother - Danzig
  11. I wanna be your dog - Stooges
  12. Avenues and alleyways - Rancid
  13. Great record. That was Mike Inez playing and it sounds like his usual Spector and Ampeg SVT combination. The acoustic rather than electric guitars really let it cut right through.
  14. Adrift in the ocean is a favourite for me
  15. I forget his username but I'm sure the bassist from Yob is/was a member of this forum. They are awesome, I'm a big fan
  16. Stickin in my eye - NOFX
  17. I used to use a Terror 500 for Doom. Its a high gain amp but the distorted sound out of it is bloody awful. I'd always go with Ashdown, they work very well and are indestructible. The sound city head may do the job, give it a try with a big cab. The best setup I had was an Ashdown ABM600 in to an Orange OBC410 cab with a Darkglass B3K and Two Notes Le Bass for dirt
  18. I used to play drop A# on a Stingray. I used the bottom 4 strings out of a 5 string set with a .130 lowest string. You'll have to file the nut and bridge to get the heavier strings in and it'll need a set up. I found the pickup height had to be spot on and there was always a big tonal difference between the highest 2 stings and the lowest 2. I ended up replacing it with a 5 string multiscale Ibanez which did the job much better.
  19. South of heaven - Slayer
  20. Spanking the monkey - Divine Sinners
  21. The Fall. Mark E Smith could barely stand, wet himself, couldn't sing and detuned the bands instruments as they tried to play. He disappeared after three songs and didn't return. The band were pretty decent without the old alcoholic. Blur. Glastonbury headline show. Dull. Really dull. Earthtone9. Arctangent Festival this year. After starting 10 minutes late following tinkering with pedals they started playing and the sound was dreadful. The tent emptied fairly quickly.
  22. Ainsley Harriet advises you to give your meat a good old rub - Raised By Owls
  23. Blood and Thunder - Mastadon
  24. Thanks for the offer but I don't do drugs. I got a copy of NIB bass part now. It'll soon be tattooed on to my shin to create a texture behind a design
  25. Burn The Witch - Queens Of The Stone Age
