  1. I listen to Cult of Luna a lot, they're an incredibly creative and talented metal band. This is my first listen to their Eternal Kingdom album and its absolutely killer start to finish with Ghost Trail being the highlight. It's quite long at 10 minutes and a bit prog at times but well worth a listen.
  2. I'll work to 65, get the mortgage cleared and that's enough. I don't think I'll be capable of my job at 70. I've seen a few try to work past 65 but none have lasted.
  3. Care homes are businesses, all businesses exist purely to make profit. I'll never get there, I'm checking out at 65, it's the only way I can avoid working up to 70.
  4. I'm sure they could but would it sell any more basses and make more money?
  5. I've been using this setup for a few weeks now. The master volume still works, it's bypassing the eq and gain but not master volume.
  6. I think fretless slide lead bass could be a first in sludge/doom metal. Add in a wah and some heavy overdrive and I'm sure it'll work.
  7. I like that. That's giving me ideas. Good tunes.
  8. What band is that? I'll have a listen.
  9. Thanks for the tips. Listen to Joy Division is just good advice for all problems but they do have so great bass leads.
  10. Last night I received an email from our guitarist with an mp3 looping an absolutely disgusting, sludgy, doomy guitar riff. It sounds great but because he's gone so low with it, he's pretty much playing a bass part on baritone guitar (tuned to A#). This means the space left for me is pretty much a lead part which is something I have zero experience writing. Are there any good guides or rules or tips for writing a lead part? Or is it just a case of put it on loop, pour a whisky and jam until something happens?
  11. Teenage dirtbag - Wheetus Terrible, dreadful song. Just really bad
  12. Don't forget a lot of what we pay for a Fender is import taxes. In the US they're considerably cheaper than in the UK
  13. Those things seem more like design preference issues than quality issues. What's wrong with a slightly ropey finish in an area you can't see? Fender are a business and as such their reason for existing is to make as much money as possible. For that reason it's to be expected that they would do the minimum and charge the maximum. If people keep buying them, that suggests they got the product and pricing right.
  14. I don't think there's ever been a time when you could get a complete 911 for £150. They were really cheap for a while but never that cheap.
  15. 924? They were worth nothing for years, now you can add two zeros for a nice one. I still think they're a bit crap though
  16. It seems to me this entire discussion comes down to "I remember when a P bass cost five shillings and sixpence"
  17. To be perfectly honest, I don't care whether it's mass produced or hand built, I'd rather judge the value of the finished article than how it was made.
  18. Nope. That made no difference. Adjusting pickup height fixed it
