A top quality preamp is my essential pedal. At the moment I use a Two Note Le Bass but that's been discontinued so I'll take the Two Notes Revolt and invest the £1 change in a second had copy of Viz
I do also use 1mm picks. I mostly play around the bridge pickup and get a bit lively at times, I'd probably hit them all on to the floor. I've also not got a pick guard on my Ibanez
That looks nice. It looks like it might be a step or two up from the SR300.
I'd quite like an SRMS800 next to go with my SRMS805 but before I get that I want to upgrade the 805 preamp to a Darkglass tone capsule.
It's alright I guess. Not their best work. If it had been released when they were still a band it would have been an album filler track and no one would remember it.
I'm having a bit of classic thrash / punk crossover this morning with Hellbastard. They make an excellent racket. Too heavy for punk, too punk for metal.
They've asked us to support them in a couple weeks so I thought I should get a bit more familiar with their music and I'm really enjoying it.
I've seen the Motley Crue fans online criticising it like it's the worst piece of music ever released. I think they wanted more Motley Crue and are upset that following his departure from the band, he wants to do something different.
I had exactly that and it's an awesome combination. I think I'd rather keep the distortion on a pedal board. My Darkglass B3K overdrive pedal has a huge range of sounds available and I don't see that range could be achieved with onboard distortion where you've not got all the knobs and switches.
If you can play funk, post punk and dub then you've got everything you need to play metal. Just hit the strings harder, crank up the gain and look angry
If you're moving from guitar to bass, remember that space is good. Don't play bass like a guitar, just because you can fit in a note doesn't mean you should. Sometimes, a long sustained note on bass sounds so much better than a busy bass part.
