When I'm El Presidente it will be law that all musicians with signature gear must use it for all performances and recording. That'll get rid of at least 3/4 of them. I'll also ban Joe Dart for his smug expression while playing so this bass will be double banned. Viva El Presidente

I'm mostly looking at Euro series Spectors now but also feeling a little drawn to a Dimension 4 HP. It should allow lighter strings and give more consistent tone across all 4 strings. I think I need to try one. There is one on Reverb at a very reasonable price but I'm slightly concerned that if I don't like it and want to sell it on, it has a limited market.

It's not an uncommon setup. I first saw it used by Lou Barlow from Dinosaur Jr. Using an Ampeg SVT and Peavey 5150 guitar amp and it sounded absolutely filthy! So much better than overdrive pedals.

When my last band recorded, the oroducer used amp sims to great effect. My bass signal went through an SVT for clean channel and a Marshall plexi for the dirt. It sounded amazing.

I've always managed to get those but then I've never travelled too far to gigs. £150 seems to be the max unless you're well known. I know Damnation and Arctangent pay £150 plus a case of beer for their bottom tier bands so most of those bands will be losing money on travel and accommodation and just playing for the love of it. A mate of mine played Bloodstock after winning a battle of the bands competition and they weren't paid at all but he had a hell of a weekend hanging out with rockstars and playing to his biggest ever audience by a big margin.

All have full lineups now and only book bands with a good UK following who will add ticket sales. There's lots of small venues who put on bands with little to no UK following, just don't expect to get more than fuel money and a free pint.

Longer I think. 5 is 35" the 4 multi is 36" - 34". The 5 multi is 37 - 34

All their songs seem to be in C#. The Dimension 4 just has the bonus of the 36" scale on the E string which will give extra tension or allow lighter strings.
