  1. It's odd that skills shortages haven't lead to higher wages being offered. You'd think businesses would be fighting over the limited available workers to ensure they fill their vacancies
  2. I believe companies should have to give inflation matching wage rises before they pay share dividends. The people who do the work to make the money should come first. Average wage rises over the last decade have been below inflation so cannot have caused wage spiral inflation. The current inflation is caused almost entirely by the 20% increase in energy costs and the fact that Britain now has the highest energy costs in the world.
  3. Thanks for that. I'll have a listen
  4. Are there any band who keep the bass tuning somewhere near standard while the guitars tune down low? I'm currently tuned to drop A# to match the guitarist in our band but kind of curious about whether it's possible to make it work in a standardish 4 string tuning. We play doom metal so heavily distorted metal examples would be awesome if they exist
  5. But did he start early? An early finish time doesn't mean a short day. I work with people who finish at 3pm but they start at 5am
  6. I keep hearing angry people say £32k is a great salary, nurses should shut up and get on with it. Firstly, for a skilled profession which requires a degree qualification, that's a terrible salary. Secondly, many of those workers started decades ago and bought homes, started families etc which they could afford at the time but since the cost of living has risen considerably and their wages haven't, they're struggling to pay for commitments that they could afford before. One of my relatives has just quit as a nurse after 30 years to work in a factory doing unskilled work for slightly more pay and a nicer work/life balance.
  7. Yes, very
  8. Are you a Nigerian General?
  9. That's pretty much what I took from it. It does seem like a one man battle of egos if I'm honest
  10. Re-named. I suspect it'll get locked and that'll be for the best.
  11. Surely it should be the best quality bass
  12. If it's going to be a bass off it needs to be neutral ground. Therefore no Jaco, no Zeppelin. I assume neither of you are too familiar with grindcore so there's a neutral ground for handbags at dawn. I understand Frantic Disembowlment is pretty tough, it's certainly fast so how about it?
  13. Catamaran - Kyuss
  14. Wind in the ego a bit. You're just making yourself look a bit of a tool
  15. Apologies for my misunderstanding
  16. Some of them actually could play (Clash, Damned and Stranglers) and generally those still going really can play now. I saw UK Subs recently supporting Bad Religion and they're seriously good now.
  17. I didn't support the postal strikes until I saw an interview with the boss of Royal Mail. What a thoroughly horrible bloke with a terrible attitude towards his employees.
  18. Whatever you do, don't get an isobaric cab and expect light weight and good sound because you'll get neither. The 212 is very punchy though. I had a 115 which sounded very deep and was loud but a little mushy. I'm currently using a 410 which sounds spot on but it weighs as much as a cow.
  19. Be quiet and drive - Deftones Metal bands are more polite
  20. Back to school - Deftones Great band, terrible song.
  21. Mmmmmmoooootttthhhhhheeeeeeerrrrrrr - Danzig
  22. To Sirrus - Gojira
  23. I don't know who I am - The Cribs
  24. You're doomed - Andy Swedlove
