  1. The end - The Doors
  2. It's not trying the same thing if it's a different dog
  3. How many times have you tried? Just because it didn't work once doesn't mean it'll never work.
  4. I'm not sure quite how to describe our style. I guess sludge but a bit faster. Most of our riffs are "inspired by" (ripped off from) Sabbath but with rearranged rhythm or kind of chopped up a bit. Most of the time the bass and guitar are playing something very similar.
  5. Creature of the wheel - White Zombie
  6. Fist full of steel - Rage Against The Machine
  7. Arise - Sepultura
  8. I've been experimenting with techniques suggested here on a familiar song to try to work out what feels right and it seems to be thumb resting on either pickup or E string and just reaching across strings from there. Interestingly, elbow position seems to be important for me. Letting it drop back and bending the wrist doesn't seem to work for me, keeping the wrist straight seems to help my hand move across the strings better. A long strap seems to help.
  9. Go point. Even NIB which is standard tuning, there's not a lot happening on the E string. That's a heavy tune as well
  10. It's odd that skills shortages haven't lead to higher wages being offered. You'd think businesses would be fighting over the limited available workers to ensure they fill their vacancies
  11. I believe companies should have to give inflation matching wage rises before they pay share dividends. The people who do the work to make the money should come first. Average wage rises over the last decade have been below inflation so cannot have caused wage spiral inflation. The current inflation is caused almost entirely by the 20% increase in energy costs and the fact that Britain now has the highest energy costs in the world.
  12. Thanks for that. I'll have a listen
  13. Are there any band who keep the bass tuning somewhere near standard while the guitars tune down low? I'm currently tuned to drop A# to match the guitarist in our band but kind of curious about whether it's possible to make it work in a standardish 4 string tuning. We play doom metal so heavily distorted metal examples would be awesome if they exist
  14. But did he start early? An early finish time doesn't mean a short day. I work with people who finish at 3pm but they start at 5am
  15. I keep hearing angry people say £32k is a great salary, nurses should shut up and get on with it. Firstly, for a skilled profession which requires a degree qualification, that's a terrible salary. Secondly, many of those workers started decades ago and bought homes, started families etc which they could afford at the time but since the cost of living has risen considerably and their wages haven't, they're struggling to pay for commitments that they could afford before. One of my relatives has just quit as a nurse after 30 years to work in a factory doing unskilled work for slightly more pay and a nicer work/life balance.
  16. Yes, very
  17. Are you a Nigerian General?
  18. That's pretty much what I took from it. It does seem like a one man battle of egos if I'm honest
  19. Re-named. I suspect it'll get locked and that'll be for the best.
  20. Surely it should be the best quality bass
  21. If it's going to be a bass off it needs to be neutral ground. Therefore no Jaco, no Zeppelin. I assume neither of you are too familiar with grindcore so there's a neutral ground for handbags at dawn. I understand Frantic Disembowlment is pretty tough, it's certainly fast so how about it?
  22. Catamaran - Kyuss
  23. Wind in the ego a bit. You're just making yourself look a bit of a tool
  24. Apologies for my misunderstanding
