  1. I cheated at last night's jam session and ripped off the riff for a jam since it was already lodged in my head.
  2. I'm not getting in to that one. We all know it's subjective but they're legendary bands who have sold enormous amounts of records and influenced lots of those who have followed them. Maybe the beatles, Zeppelin, the stones, Motorhead and Sabbath aren't the most technically gifted musicians who have ever lived, maybe not even in their time but their influence can be heard in so much music that followed them.
  3. Stop by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Not sure why, haven't listened to it in ages. Great bass riff, proper scumbag rock and roll.
  4. They were bands from the British Isles. I don't see how any of them could be not considered British.
  5. Yes I did. I didn't forget them, I thought they were American but I personally wouldn't consider them one of the greats (my opinion only, opinions of others may differ)
  6. Well in more (relatively) recent times there has been The Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, The Damned, The Stranglers, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Gary Numan Radiohead, The Prodigy, Idles and Muse. Some of the best bands of all time and all British.
  7. I don't understand how Britain came second. Politically, they all hate Britain and musically, the song was the most average.
  8. It wasn't a question, it's a statement of FACT. This is the Internet so me writing fact in all capitals means you cannot argue with that
  9. Tort pickguards only have the right tone qualities for a p bass in tobacco burst with flats.
  10. I spoke to my local amp tech about servicing after he had repaired mine. He said blow the dust out of it once a year but other than that, if it sounds good then don't touch it.
  11. You're right. Metallica went too ridiculous
  12. I'm watching it again right now. Favourite bit do far: "he choked on vomit, it wasn't his own though. They don't know who's, you can't dust for vomit"
  13. Can Spinal Tap II be any more ridiculous than Metallica's Some Kind Of Monster film?
  14. Ex (insert famous bassist) bass played on the (insert famous album) tour. Usually for a model bass that the named bassist has never played and on the tour where the band had a different bassist. For example "Ex Cliff Burton Dingwall NG2 which he played on the St Anger tour"
  15. Third photo clearly shows a TescoValueBass logo on the headstock.
  16. Metallica have always had bassists who were far more talented than the rest of the band and who could play the music in their sleep.
  17. Or on ebay there's the ones who list the things it isn't so it comes up in searches for other stuff For example "Cheap donkey Amazon 3 string bass Not Fender Sandberg Fodera Gibson Dingwall"
  18. A common one in adverts for very average 90's cars that should have been scrapped years ago.
  19. I hope they don't repeat the same jokes. A joke is only funny once. Being a band in their 60's provides a heap of potential new material.
  20. I recently looked at a motorbike advertised as "first to see will buy". What it should have said is "if you are blessed with the gift of sight there's no way you'll buy this ropey old dog" It was very tatty, needed new tyres, wouldn't idle properly and was over priced by about £1200 for its actual condition
