  1. I've recently changed to DR strings and loving them. DR DDT on my Thunderbird for tuning to C and Fat Beams on my Stingray in standard tuning.
  2. I was shown how to set my tone by a drummer/ex-bassist. He showed me that if you get the EQ right, you don't need a lot of volume because you're not fighting for the same frequencies as the rest of the band. He also taught me that my isolated tone counted for nothing in a band.
  3. When I was in a band it was easy, make it cut through and fit between guitars and drums. Make it sound clanky and horrible in isolation and it worked well. Now I'm just playing at home it's even easier because it just doesn't matter.
  4. Sex on fire - Kings of Leon Any links with a reference to nasty infections or antibiotics?
  5. I think in most cases, the artist would have just faded away and not been the legend they are. Hendrix would have ended up as Lemmy's roadie.
  6. I didn't think the record was as special as it should have been but I saw them in Portsmouth and the live show really was something special. They played so much more than what was o the record.
  7. Last night I watched the Killing Joke death and resurrection show documentary so this morning I'm listening the the record of the same name.
  8. King of New York - Fun Lovin Criminals Huey Morgan still refers to himself as the king of new York and goes on about how much he loves NY. He loves the place so much he lives quarter of a mile from me in Frome, Somerset.
  9. Bullet in the head - Rage Against The Machine
  10. Oops I did it again - Brittany Spears
  11. Is it just me or is there a very Weezer sound to that?
  12. I recently come across one who does everything I dislike. Charles Berthoud. His entire thing seems to be taking a decent song and cramming in as many extra notes as possible to ruin it
  13. I've seen quite a few bands who didn't have the original line up and to be honest, I couldn't care less who is on stage as long as they sound right and put on a good show. One of the best bands I saw live was Kyuss on their reunion tour. They didn't have Josh Homme but his replacement played the same equipment so it sounded the same and the night was a relentless wall of heavy noise
  14. I saw them in 2016 at London O2 arena. Absolutely mind blowing show. I have no idea how they can stand so close to those huge flames, it's bloody hot 10 metres away. Combichrist opened for them and also put on an excellent show.
  15. I'm watching Rammstein live in Paris. No one puts on a live show like Rammstein. It's as much a theatre show as a heavy metal concert. It's amazing that no one on stage ever gets burnt. If it wasn't for ticket master jacking up ticket prices to four times face value, I'd definitely see them again.
  16. Wynona's got a big brown beaver - Primus
