Some really interesting reading there - secondhand prices sure gone up a bit since the Pro 1 / 2 article from the (early?) '90's - "The price to pay for a Pro-I in good condition, with original Wal case (brown moulded fibreglass with embossed Wal logo) is about the same as the price when new - around £375. The more expensive models follow the same pattern, meaning that you can be sure of your purchase remaining an investment. Expect to pay from £400 to £599 for those models, depending on type and condition."

Currently using a very similar rig; Fender Jazz ('75 AVRI with nickel rounds) through Mesa Walkabout head / Mesa Diesel 1x15" EV cab and / or Mesa Diesel 2x10" EV cab. All tone controls flat - I don't touch them. Very good advice above, the only other thing I can suggest trying is changing the 2 preamp valves - I changed the stock Mesa ones for Harma cryo ones and there was a noticeable improvement in tone and clarity, and a smoother overdrive. Stick with it!
The 4003FL is still with me and ain't ever going anywhere again Greg. When are you going to EW, I'm gigging over that way next weekend (I think), would be great to catch up. And back on topic, the Fretless Precision would make a nice foil to the Wazz
You still gig since you became a TV star.......??? It'll be mid-week after the weekend unfortunately - another time! They don't allow Welsh in Surrey pubs anyway....... Lol It sure would be a nice foil, but the re-fretted Wazz will be a pair with my '85 fretless Mk 1, reckon they'll be all I need Co-incidentally I'd put the P body and neck together as a kind of re-creation of Sting's natural fretless P circa 1979, but it sure looks lush as the red version
Same body Greg, Kev had it refinished by the Bass Doc. You'll remember that the neck and body worked really quite nicely. I had this bass and the 4001FL at the same time and the only reason this went was because the 400FL really is that good a bass (in 20 years I've yet to find a bass to which I have such an affinity), but I do wish I could afford to keep both! All the best with the sale Kev C
........so an even more fab package than I'd first thought! Kev knows I've been sorely tempted by this, and if I wasn't about to spend an arm and a leg to restore your old "Wazz" to orig spec, Chris (I'm going over to Electric Wood next week) I'd have had this a while ago. That 4003FL was something special, mind

Having imported a pair of '66 Thunderbuckers, I can vouch for what a mega-bargain this was. It it'd been cream or Pelham blue finish with a lighter relic job I'd have been utterly gutted to have missed it.....

First chatted with Joe many years ago - I think we both owned an old MM Sabre, Ovation Magnum, and a Gordon Smith bass at the time - but not lately, which is a shame Bought a 4u case off him this week, really smooth deal. Def one of the good guys on BC

Gone locally - thanks for interest, and sorry to be letting you down Ricky

I snagged a nearly new one on US ebay for a mere £350 shipped a couple of years back. The main drawback is - you've guessed it it - I have to lug around a mains transformer at least as heavy as the amp itself Bad move...... Superb little amps though; I liked it so much I bought the biggest brother - Mesa Titan V12 Big Block (UK voltage this time!) But it's still the Walkabout that gets gigged most . Changing the original Russian Mesa pre valves for Harma cryo ones made a definite improvement in tone and silent running

Bought an Ashdown combo off Simon - only PM'd him on Sunday and met him in a cold dark M4 services at Bridgend tonight, which shows just how smooth the deal was. Top bloke to deal with, great communications, but I hate him as he's living my dream of playing DB with a Rockabilly band......
Wish I had looked at BC this afternoon, where was I today , Swansea !
Shame! At least you got out alive...... Would have made Mrs Shaggy very happy, seeing some gear go out for a change
Ahhh.....Abbott Ale! I live less than half a mile from the Brewery!! If you still have the amp by the time you come over this way and can put it in the back of your car then I could arrange to pick it up off you. No worries if not. Cheers
No prob, I'll be in touch when I do, might even be over Bury way. I was raised on Greene King!
I could just do with one of those. Shame I am on the other side of the country! I am sure you will have plenty bite your hand off for it.
Cheers Ricky - probably over Cambridge way next month for my pre-Xmas fix of Abbott Ale........

Really nice amp that has served me faithfully as a rehearsal amp, and for a couple of small gigs too. USA made (guessing 1990's?) with a good bit of power that belies its 65W rating and a clear articulate tone - the pull "punch boost" and "bright boost" on the gain & master vol controls are particularly nifty. Best feature is for a small combo (easy one-handed carry with top handle) is it has a 15" driver shoehorned in which gives it plenty of low end. Looks like the same Scorpion cast-alloy chassis driver I had in my old Peavey 115 cab: great units. A tad scruffy but fully functional and has never missed a beat. Being Peavey - tough as old boots. Free collected from Swansea area (home - SA9, or work - SA6) - I really don't want to be @rsed to post it
