1. Both mine have been great and worked perfectly. I never use the Eq though, but still great amps.
2. Man the videos amazing, the songs amazing, its a song i would want to cover for sure. Ill send you a PM next time in England to see if i can see you live. Deadly.
3. Thanks very much geof. Also Jarhead i hadnt thought bout Arifs playing, but ya it is really good. Also another piece as well was straight no chaser by thelonious monk.
4. The best music shop i have been too in England is the Bass cellar, i still dont see what you are complaining about , great service, really nice people, let me play anything and for as long as i wanted. I was very pleased. I havent been to mnay over there but that was easily the best.
5. I cant play it fast enough yet, and i have the music for it, its not bad, but i have plenty of time to get it up to speed. Also to help with the crescendos and decrescendos i was going to get a volume pedal of some sort, just to help there.
6. Im thinking more love by victor wooten might go down a treat but then again the examiner might hear it a bit like autumn leaves, so maybe something a bit further away??
7. That autumn leaves would be perfect Thanks.
8. Anyone, i was also thinking sir duke, any ideas?
9. So for my leaving cert i have to play 8 pieces, 4 on trumpet and 4 on bass or 6 on one instrument but ive been told your bound to get more marks straight away by playing 2 instruments. So i pretty much know what im playing on trumpet. But as Ive mostly spent the last 3 years of my time playing bass rockin' out, Im not sure what to play for all 4 pieces i have two ideas so far. But first, all the pieces have to different to get most marks, and i can be backed up by anything really, but my main ones and preferred are piano and drums, i would like a guitar and could... get one, but it takes so long to get any of my friends to learn anything that its more hassle then its really worth so.... The first two pieces that i have thought of are The awakened by The Reddings Suite no 1 in G major by bach. Ive got plenty of time to learn all pieces and have started both of the above. But are these any good, do you think they'll get me the marks, and what do you think would be two other pieces of varying genres, or 4 pieces altogether. Im fairly clueless at what else to pick a jazz piece, rock, metal eh. Also they have to be too quite a high standard, but the main marks are the performance really. Any help? Thanks Sam H
10. I would be, but it seems it might be a touch small, but that makes it all the merrier.
11. Id be very interested in the DTR-1 but ill have to sort out some moneys first so ill get back to you. Please dont sell.
12. Of for f***s sake hes all the way over the other side of the country, one of the only virtuoso players i would go and see and hes all the way over the wrong bloody side and too high up. Grrrrr
13. I would only buy a bass that expensive if it was planish nothing too fancy but if it so long and wa difficult to wind the pickups or something or is actually wa a chick magnet.
14. If this was in Ireland and i had 350 quid. The possibilities
15.
That's a great setup you've got there. The single 1x15" is definitely the workhorse rig. I don't play Double Bass, but I'm liking the look of the two you've got there. What sort of stuff do you play? Are you in bands?
I play a bit of everything, but mostly rock and older funkier music, just finished learning the reddings awakened, which i think has got a good groove too. Im slowly coming back into a band, which is great. I started to play in a band and we were going with small gigs like and then we split up and ive spent the last year and a half playing on my own and jamming.
It's amazing how much space one double bass takes up so I can't believe you have two (even if one is on loan). My wife would go mad if I had a second
Its crazy, and even to move them, i have to fold down the back seats of my mums car, and wedge it in at an angle. But great o far.
16. Thought id arrange the whole family and take some shots this evening. To see what you think of my rig. Here goes, And there you haveit, sorry for the bad light and bad quality, its already dark hear. So whats there on the left is Antoni double bass, 3/4 size laminated and surprisingly loud and has a really nice mwah to it. Its my first double bass(i dont own the other) and was hoping for something better but its already setup and was only a few hours away, so i jumped on it and feel i could have done alot worse for the price. In the middle My fender jazz 24 in cherry sunburst, my first proper bass and well my only proper bass. Really nice and im glad i went with it over the other jazz bass's i was looking at. Pity there discontinues now i wouldn't mind to swap it for a 5er. In the middle behind is an ashdown mag 600R, my second one in fact as i bought one at the beginning of the year and then sold it then bought another making a 50 quid profit. In a SKB. Does what it has too. Underneath is an EV 606 with a fane 15-400, cause i couldn't afford a real one. On the right is an unknown double bass my teachers which im renting, its also 3\4 and looks to have a lot of history to it, looks like he scratched some words and messages on it in his youth. Unbelievably low action its crazily low and effortless to play, pity ill have to give it back know. And so that's what i have theres only a few things i want know. a Peavey tvx 4x10 A nice double bass pickup Either a G7L L-2500 or Warwick corvette std 5er with swamp ash body. And then i would be set :brow: Thanks Sam H
17. Yep i also use french havent tried a german, but my teacher says if you can play with a french you can play with anything. Sounds a bit erotic, know i think about it.,
18. Incubus, circles is a good one, and many tracks with dirk lance(alex) playing has alot of use of the B string.
19. I wouldnt mind it for a nice little Double bass amp, Just to push me through.
20. Thanks very much for all the answers, seems peavey is winning.
21.
Is Jazz 24 the only one with 24 fret? EDIT: bloody hell, that looks better than the aerodyne http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics.../1/7/558017.jpg Oh also, the VMJs have duncan designed puppies - do the ones equipped for MIM and MIA differ?
Yep except i have mine with a quilted maple top in cherry sunburst, Its damn nice. The few Cijs i have played are also great quality.
22. I didnt mention that im in Ireland, so postage from the uk would be hell im guessing. Most of the BC users are in the Uk as far as i can see. Thanks Bassman, any other opinions.
23. So, im still unhappy with all the cabs ive built so far, and now that i have the money(nearly a whole year later) to actually buy one i decided i would, just to have a decent sound sorted out so i can get on with everything else. So my budget being 300 euro or under, ive looked around for all the cabs i can find for under that price and theres a few. First the Kustom DE 4x10 400 8 ohms http://www.musicstore.de/en_EN/IEP/Kustom-...-BAS0003317-000 http://www.kustom.com/product_detail.aspx?...D=211&Tab=1 Ashdown Mag 4x10 http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...n=mag&ID=24 Peavey tvx 4x10 8 ohm http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/...)%208%20ohm.cfm Well those are the only ones i can find for my price, theirs also the ampeg B-4x10 except its 200 watts rms and i need 300-350 watts handling. Ive only played the Mag 4x10 and it was grand, did the job. But are the others any better. If it helps i play a fender jazz 24 with swing 66's and my amp is an ashdown mag 600R. Thanks Sam H EDIT: i live in Ireland which really rules out most of the stuff for sale here as the postage im guessing would be horrendous unless someone knows a company who can do cheaply enough.
24. Is the website finished yet. Ive always fancied a Wal.
