  1. I must admit, I don't think you can beat a set of gold hardware on a black bass.
  2. Always have been mate! 😂
  3. Well I bought @FinnDave 's Hercules stand and I have to say, it's superb. Exactly what I'm looking for. I recommend one of these for anyone with more than one gigging bass and AVOID them cheap stands you can pick up for peanuts. You really do get what you pay for with a Hercules stand - the design on these really is ingenious.
  4. OK mate - email will be incoming.
  5. Especially when your favourite beer is Guiness ... I think Ned Steinberger had the British beer drinker in mind when he designed that body
  6. Au contraire Rodney ... the reason I know they won't is because the guitarist in the band also has a dual Hercules stand.
  7. I must admit the sound from my other Spector is superb - I wouldn't say better, just different from the other one. I used it last night for the first time in a metal covers band I dep with my GK head and Ampeg 6x10 and the sound was huge. I had the amp eq settings all on neutral and just used the eq on the bass. 10.2lbs on a Spector sounds more than it actually is in practice. I hardly ever notice the weight when use mine, it balances beautifully.
  8. That's a beauty and identical to my one. The push/pull pots are a nice addition and if you want a single coil at the back, it's simply a matter of pulling the knob (ooh errr!!). Mine is quite heavy (heavier than my other Euro 5XL) and the neck is a bit more substantial but it's still a killer bass. I've just re-strung mine with Dean Markley SR2000s which are renowned for their mid-range heavy sound. Word of advice, if you find your amp clipping when you play, it's simply a matter or turning down the Tone Pump. If you need any advice on that PM me. You've got a killer bass there mate, enjoy!
  9. Did a local gig yesterday and Saturday with my newly acquired GK head.
  10. I've got them on my other Euro 5XL and they're great - and their mid voicing does cut through the mix really well.
  11. Nice one mate - what ya getting ?
  12. Thanks mate - PM incoming.
  13. Can anybody recommend me a decent dual guitar stand for Spector / Warwick curved body style basses please? I've got one of the standard dual guitar stands and twice the bloody thing has fallen over, resulting in a chunk being taken out of the fingerboard of one of my basses. The stand in question is one of these: They're cheap and there's a reason because they're flimsy and unstable with two basses on them. Not impressed at all.
  14. I think these were the budget side of the Tokai operation from what I can gather. I think they were only made for the Japanese market
  15. Nice one. I did a bit of research on these and they are made by Tokai - or at least they were in the early 80s. Anyway, enjoy !
  16. Thanks mate, any idea on the type of wood that's used? Is it ply ?
  17. What's the weight and the nut width on this mate?
  18. Currently I own: Spector Euro5XL (EMG BQC Pre-amp) Spector Euro5XL (Tone Pump Pre-amp) Spector Euro Doug Wimbish Traben Chaos Core Traben John Moyer 5 String Traben John Moyer 4 String Fender Jazz Bitsa But only gig the Spector Euro5XL (EMG BQC Pre-amp) and the Spector Euro Doug Wimbish If I'm doing any punk / Oi! gigs, I'll get the Traben John Moyer 5 out
  19. Why oh why would you do this to a bass ... take a blow torch to it and think it's something special ... I do wonder at some people's mentality sometimes. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JH-Guitars-Australia-041J-Bass-guitar-P-precision-scorched-series-blue-fender/233328778455?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D59535%26meid%3Decb0f7b742534459bbebf91851b44464%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D264354789107%26itm%3D233328778455%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  20. I've seen quite a few photos of him playing the red and white version ...
  21. That's what I thought when I saw the price but it doesn't make any mention of multiple sets. Unbelievable.
  22. Really? Do they come with dancing girls and a free case of beer ? They'd want to at that price ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rickenbacker-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Standard-Nikkl-45-115-5-String/183928114924?hash=item2ad2f84eec:g:q6YAAOSwi5FdWUgW
  23. The earlier NS-95s and 2000s were through-neck basses with maple bodies, but since then, no Korean models have had through necks.
  24. Yes, it's a neck-through and 35" scale. That 35" scale puts some people off for some reason but to me it's fine. In regard to the pickups, on my other Spector Euro, (with the Tone Pump) the pickups are coil-tapable (is that a word?), so you can have any combination you want - J/P or P/J giving it more versatility in sound. I usually just have them in their humbucker config and leave it at that.
