"MADE FROM ORIGINAL PRE CBS SEASONED WOOD" ... Jesus wept ... really? -
It's not cheap but it sure is nice....

I'm not talking about sound, I'm talking more about tuning stability and more scope for intonation. I'd go as far to say that nobody could tell the difference in sound between a BBOT and a Hi-Mass bridge. -

For that sort of money, I'd at least want a hi-mass bridge on it. Why do Fender still persist with the BBOT, even on their high-end basses? -
That's a new one on me too. I always thought they were bolt-on necks they had on Rockbasses. I used to own a 5-string early 2000s Rockbass and it was great, sound-wise and playability.

Messed about with Warwick 5er - £350
WHUFC BASS replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Ahem ... Grays is actually Essex. That string tree ... WTF? Why would you do that? I think the bridge is a cheap Wilkinson knock-off as far as I can tell. That's obviously a cheap bass they're trying to pass off as a higher value bass. I had a Rockbass Streamer and I really liked it. Great neck for a 5-string and the sound from the MEC pickups was decent. Build quality was good too. -
A secondary school woodwork student could probably do better. The whole "Made in the USA" nonsense is just that. Nonsense. There's no mojo attached to wood and certainly not wood from the USA. Unless you can show me a frequency response graph, there's no "tone" attached to wood full stop.

As per the title, is it me or are they a lot more expensive than normal strings. Let's face it, it really is just a longer top string and shorter bottom string. Just surfing Google shopping and have found this: D'Addario XTB45130 Bass Strings: £37.99 Newtone Diamond Bass for Multi-scale instruments: £39.53 Spector Set of Five Multi-Scale Electric Bass Strings: £43.00 D'Addario Pro Steels 45-130 Stainless Steel Long Scale: £49.99 D'Addario NYXL32130SL Bass Set: £49.00 Strings Direct Custom Set Multiscale 5-String Bass Guitar Low Tune: £49.99 Pyramid Multiscale 5 string Bass Set: £53.00 Jeez ... would kind of put me off buying a multi-scale bass with them prices.

If there's one thing I'd replace or look at re-designing in the jack socket on Spectors. You really need to use an angled jack cable with these basses. I've had to replace two on my Euro LX where I've used straight cables and they've accidentality hit against my knee.
