1. I really struggle to find anything bad that Sabbath did. My favourite band of all time ever. Geezer is an inspiration on bass, as is Iommi on Guitar. Great British heavy metal - a genre defining band.
2.
So it's all done, barr a bit of soldering to be done tomorrow. Needs a setup as i've changed the bridge out. And the Chromes are pulling the neck a bit too, so truss rod will be getting a tweak. And yes, i'll have to turn the Neutrik Jack around...I am a dopey sod sometimes. But yeah, pretty chuffed, looks great, and hopefull will sound ace. Only minor issue I had during the refit was the screws I got with the bidge were utter garbage and one sheared off - A bit of a fight with some mole grips and it's all sorted, using the old Yamaha screws! Hope you like it, going to try and record something this weekend with it.
That looks great. What would really set it off though is spraying the headstock the same colour blue. Would really give it a more classy look I reckon.
3.
No... But it's a poster with my band's name on it
aaaah ! Close but no cigar. What's your band's name ?
4.
Ah found one.
Bloody 'ell mate, do you play bass for GBH ?
5. Absolute classic. I want this to be the anthem for the Olympic Games. ... and here's another one ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOiuDAPHxCE
6.
John Mcvie. Not a shadow of doubt in my mind that this bloke could throw out chops with the best of them yet his playing is always subservient to the song. Throughout his long career he has always played with a lot of restraint and self control. I don't know of many others who were content to remain in the shadows as such an unsung hero .
Cliff Williams of AC/DC always impresses me with his solid no-frills basslines. That's what bass playing is all about - the song.
7. CD turned up today Tim - thanks for that, really appreciate it. I think I'm on my way to having an ASBO already ! Neighbours aren't impressed.
8. I can't believe this hasn't sold. These are by far the best straps I have used. Superb quality and if this was black leather with white stitching this would have sold within minutes.
9. No mention of Bert Weedon - the catalyst to the most inspirational guitarists
10. Ha ha! Louis XVI plays the drums ... I thought they'd killed him off during the French Revoloution
11. Two things I'd be expecting to see: Pinch harmonics on guitar The 12 bar-blues
12.
Thanks mate...means a bunch. Chuck me your address and ill get one out to you. No charge. cheers again Tiim
PM'd mate.
13. Exactly - palm muting = Billy Bragg ?? Feedback - Gang of Four ???? !!!!!! Jesus wept.

15. I always remember what Miles Davis said to me when I first met him ... "get the f*** out of my way bitch!"
16. Tina Weymouth all day long. Can't stand that tapping / musical tourettes / w***ery
17. Here's a good bit of marketing - honest and to the point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P24dAztkqZo
18.
thanks butty, means a lot :-) long time no speak - hope you're well. If you want me to send you another copy of the first album just let me know, thats not a problem. Releasewise we're probably going to out a 3 track ep as an inbetweener while we're writing our second album. Deceiver will be on the ep. Free download and diy hardcopies will be available i expect. Nowt fancy really, just hoping to get some gigs off the back of it as we are really struggling to get shows as per usual :-)
Nice one mate, the more I listen to that, the more I like it. I'd love a another copy of the album mate - mines scratched and jumps on a couple of tracks from being played so much LOL! I can't believe you aren't getting any gigs - there's no justice. You'd be surprised at the amount of crap metal bands getting gigs (and deals) down here.
19.
Genelecs are also pretty coloured as it goes. The only decent monitors I've come across at this kind of level are the Dynaudio BM5a and the Adam A7/A7x. Most low end monitors either have hyped low end or no low end. None of them have good mids (and that of course is where most problems lie). Bottom line is if you can't afford decent monitors that is fine as long as you acknowledge that they are less that ideal. You then just have to work much harder to get a good mix: check your mixes in lots of rooms (and cars) and note the problems in the mix each time. Where the same problems pop up on a number of the systems, that's a problem that needs sorted.
Where would you rate Yamaha HS80s - low or mid end ? Reason I'm asking is I do most mixes on headphones (BeyerDynamic DT880s) but always cross reference with the monitors and they always sound a bit boxy if that makes sense ?
20. That's superb mate, really good. Great bass sound too. I've almost worn out your first album from playing it in the car. Great stuff. As someone pointed out, its more like hardcore than metal which I actually prefer - much more fast and aggressive. Any more releases due soon ?
21. Wow! They've got Telecasters and errr .... Telecasters. Not exactly much variety there is there ?
22. There's nothing more embarrassing than seeing a politician trying to interact with music of any description. They are completely clueless and even more embarrassing when they are asked what their favourite bands are. I think it should be a pre-requisite that anyone wanting to be a politician should be automatically banned from becoming a politician. Parliament - a bad soap opera with a cast of ugly bad actors.
23.

Uncle Albert : VOT IZ YOUR NAME ?
24.
Roasted necks.
Ha ha I remember that one - didn't Sterling Ball threaten to chop someone's knackers off on the EBMM forum when they persistently asked what the benefit of "roasting" a bass neck (ooh err... missus) as he could see no perceivable advantage:
Sterling, The claims that you have made may very well be true: * Dimensional stability * Resistance to warping * Increased resonance * Clearer tone IMO, it's marketing until it can be proven (I come from an Italian family of engineers). Other manufacturers have made lesser claims indicating that the process is for better drying and for use with less stable, highly figured maple. from Rodger Sadowsky: "The result of this treatment is wood that is significantly more resistant to absorbing or releasing moisture. With this increased stability, the "roasted maple" process enables us to offer figured maple neck blanks for the first time in our three decades of instrument making. We have always advocated that figured neck stock was too unstable to use." Again, not saying your claims are not accurate, just currently un-substantiated. Understood that you may have technical information regarding the process, testing, and lab results that are company proprietary. Thanks for the advice about the kids; it's really true; seemed like they were born just the other day.
http://forums.ernieb...aple-necks.html
25. why don't you put the bottom cab on casters ? That'd be the cheapest option anyway
