1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/17673948 Be interesting to see how U.S. and U.K. copyright laws work in this instance. I think that the damages being sought by the yanks are optimistic to say the least. I wonder if they'll be extradited
 2. Hasn't this always been the way with music though ? Take for example this lot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lieutenant_Pigeon One number one single, one single at 17 in the charts. One of their mum's used to play piano and they practiced in their front room. Talent doesn't come in to it mate. Its all subjective.
 3. Someone just sold one on here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/28558-trace-elliot-gp7sm200-1153-rig-sold-pending/ Might want to speak to them about it.
 4. I saw them in 1983 at the old Marquee on London when Stuart Morrow was playing bass for them. Not really my cup of tea but it'd be a good gig to get. They play all over the place.
 5.
If so, we have enough suggestions in this thread for a 10-minute set - how shall we fill the other 50?
Do what my singer's old band did back in the early 80s when they were booked for a 40 minute slot at the Skunx Club in Islington. They only had three songs so he came up with the brilliant plan of starting a fight after the third song. It worked like a charm and there was a full scale riot in the place with the police being called. Gig was cancelled and they got away with their credibility (partially) intact.
 6.
Jingle jangle Un-f***ing-believable last minute let off
Oh yes, some strange sights. I was on a bus going back to the station and the driver said he wasn't going to let me off the bus because "... I hate southerners". Ha ha... classic. I think he was from Huddersfield. Bless 'im. It was a bit of a let off but I think it was a fair result all round. As usual Colin W*nker was moaning about the ref afterwards/.
 7.
It was great in its day though. I remember when it came out , to actually see someone explaining this weird concept of "thumping" was GREAT ! Also seeing the Jeff Berlin one as well was an eye opener , colutia on drums , gambale on guitar . Great memories .
and that two-bob clown in a kilt too... f***in' ada.. !
 8.
Look at all these great Anal **** tracks the punters are missing
Philisteines, that's what I call them. I was up in Leeds last week for the West Ham game. That's a strange old place. The ghost of Jimmy Saville was spotted on more than one occasion.
 9.
I was thinking about it today....and I'm almost certain my middle aged angst completly trumps teenage angst. I wanted to go out and write an EMO album entitle...Teenagers, you don't have a clue what life has in store for you.
If you listen to most Blood For Blood songs I think they'll trump any angst anyone has - anywhere.
We don't get any more requests for Anal **** on the wedding circuit anymore.
An, Anal C**t. Them of the "Hitler Was a Sensitive Man" fame.
 10.
Ahem, Johnny Thunders, Chinese Rocks. Oh yes.
Now that is a great track
 11. Never trust anyone that doesn't like Black Sabbath. THE greatest band ever of all time.
 12. This'll loosen a few slates .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izBkacePChg
 13. Punk was an always be a huge part of my life and my lifestyle. It defines who I am, the way I think and the way I live my life. They say necessity is the mother of invention, well at the time (76-77) its exactly what was needed. Granted there were some fantastic bands around at that time, but punk seemed to sum up the general feeling of resentment felt at the time (as did reggae). Most TV documentaries will have you believe punk died in 1978 which is a complete load of cobblers. By the 1980's it was probably at it most interesting time. All the posers, fakes and art-students had moved onto the next big trend and punk went underground. This was a time when some of the best punk bands came to the fore. So in answer to the question was the advent of punk a good or bad thing - in my opinion it was a natural reaction to the social and political situation as well the music around at the time.
IMHO anyone who states that there were no really good punk bands, simply doesn't know enough about it.
^^^^ Is the right answer !
 14. Someone buy this please before I spend money that I haven't got - this price is just madness - I paid £250 for mine and I thought that was a bargain.
 15.
I have to be honest---the drummer might have been out of line but your mate also behaved like a grade A bell end too. Having a barney on-stage in front of a crowd is just a big no-no. Finish the set/gig and have words afterwards.
A fair point but if he's been repeatedly warned then there's little chance he'd take any notice. I suppose the sensible thing would be to just not hire him ever again.
 16.
Aye. Can't say I'd stick around in a band with someone who did that on stage, no matter how good they are. As for the audience! I'd have cringed off soon after... probably before if the drummer was that bad. But definitely after!
Well this was a session that they were just thrown together on. He'd worked with this drummer in the past on a number of occasions and on each occasion he'd be warned by all band members about his speeding up. He'd be drinking too which didn't help either. I reckon that on that night, my mate just wasn't taking any prisoners. He's usually a reasonably mild mannered bloke too. I'd be pissed off too if a repeatedly warned band member who liked a sherbert was taking absolutely no notice of the mistakes he was making despite repeatedly being told he was doing so. Apart from making himself look like a dickhead, he was making everyone else look stupid too, which, when you think about the time and effort they have all spent to practice on their instruments is just not on.
 17.
It was the Arras club
Ah the Arras Club opposite the Red Lion on Enfield Highway. Yeah, that was a pretty rough place in its day. My mates old man used to drink in there and on the few occasions I went there, it was a bit lively to say the least.
 18.
Used to regularly play a pub in Crawley that was a bit like that, but was our best payer for a while. Always fightsand agro and you had to shift your gear through the pub. I was really happy when we dropped it for venues that actually appreciate music.
That wouldn't be the Rose and Crown by any chance ?
I've played a venue in Enfield North London, scenario very similar to this. I flat out refused to go back. The drummer said he wouldn't mind returning. My reply was along the lines of 'you'll be doing it with a different bass player then'. No point in naming that venue, as it's now closed down.
That wasn't The Alma in Ponders End was it ?
 19. A keyboard playing mate (who is a superb Jazz session player) really gets the hump with drummers who speed up. One time he told me that this drummer was just going ridiculously fast on some slow-mid temp song to the point where the female vocalist was starting to sound like Pink & Perky on 78rpm. He'd been warned about speeding up on previous songs and this was the straw that broke that camels back. This is how the conversation went (mid-gig). My mate (standing up with his hands on his hips): " What are you doing ? You're playing way too fast!" Drummer: No I'm not, that was played at the right speed - its how I've always played it My mate: It's terrible, the singer can't keep up and not only that, you're way too loud during the sax and piano solos too Drummer: Listen, this is what I do for a living. Are you saying I can't play the drums then or what ? My mate: Yes! You can't. In fact, give it up. Take up knitting or better still kill yourself now ! You're pissing me off, the singer and the sax player too! With that the drummer packed his gear away mumbling to himself and stormed out. They carried on without drums and even members of the audience were saying how much better it sounded without the drums.
 20. Here's Zakk Wylde using one too - I'm really tempted to get one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3-Wjmb9PBA
 21. Listen to the band "Blood For Blood" and you'll get a ton of inspiration from that.
 22.
i had no idea what he was on about. It was Jonah Lomu.
He's he the fella that did that awful "stop the cavalry" song that they keep playing round Christmas ?
