1.
thanks butty, means a lot :-) long time no speak - hope you're well. If you want me to send you another copy of the first album just let me know, thats not a problem. Releasewise we're probably going to out a 3 track ep as an inbetweener while we're writing our second album. Deceiver will be on the ep. Free download and diy hardcopies will be available i expect. Nowt fancy really, just hoping to get some gigs off the back of it as we are really struggling to get shows as per usual :-)
Nice one mate, the more I listen to that, the more I like it. I'd love a another copy of the album mate - mines scratched and jumps on a couple of tracks from being played so much LOL! I can't believe you aren't getting any gigs - there's no justice. You'd be surprised at the amount of crap metal bands getting gigs (and deals) down here.
 2.
Genelecs are also pretty coloured as it goes. The only decent monitors I've come across at this kind of level are the Dynaudio BM5a and the Adam A7/A7x. Most low end monitors either have hyped low end or no low end. None of them have good mids (and that of course is where most problems lie). Bottom line is if you can't afford decent monitors that is fine as long as you acknowledge that they are less that ideal. You then just have to work much harder to get a good mix: check your mixes in lots of rooms (and cars) and note the problems in the mix each time. Where the same problems pop up on a number of the systems, that's a problem that needs sorted.
Where would you rate Yamaha HS80s - low or mid end ? Reason I'm asking is I do most mixes on headphones (BeyerDynamic DT880s) but always cross reference with the monitors and they always sound a bit boxy if that makes sense ?
 3. That's superb mate, really good. Great bass sound too. I've almost worn out your first album from playing it in the car. Great stuff. As someone pointed out, its more like hardcore than metal which I actually prefer - much more fast and aggressive. Any more releases due soon ?
 4. Wow! They've got Telecasters and errr .... Telecasters. Not exactly much variety there is there ?
 5. There's nothing more embarrassing than seeing a politician trying to interact with music of any description. They are completely clueless and even more embarrassing when they are asked what their favourite bands are. I think it should be a pre-requisite that anyone wanting to be a politician should be automatically banned from becoming a politician. Parliament - a bad soap opera with a cast of ugly bad actors.

 7.
Roasted necks.
Ha ha I remember that one - didn't Sterling Ball threaten to chop someone's knackers off on the EBMM forum when they persistently asked what the benefit of "roasting" a bass neck (ooh err... missus) as he could see no perceivable advantage:
Sterling, The claims that you have made may very well be true: * Dimensional stability * Resistance to warping * Increased resonance * Clearer tone IMO, it's marketing until it can be proven (I come from an Italian family of engineers). Other manufacturers have made lesser claims indicating that the process is for better drying and for use with less stable, highly figured maple. from Rodger Sadowsky: "The result of this treatment is wood that is significantly more resistant to absorbing or releasing moisture. With this increased stability, the "roasted maple" process enables us to offer figured maple neck blanks for the first time in our three decades of instrument making. We have always advocated that figured neck stock was too unstable to use." Again, not saying your claims are not accurate, just currently un-substantiated. Understood that you may have technical information regarding the process, testing, and lab results that are company proprietary. Thanks for the advice about the kids; it's really true; seemed like they were born just the other day.
http://forums.ernieb...aple-necks.html
 8. why don't you put the bottom cab on casters ? That'd be the cheapest option anyway

 10.
I strongly disagree. The internet is the greatest markrting tool ever given to the artist
I agree - you no longer need to rely on the big record companies to get yourself noticed and you no longer need to be constantly chasing that lucrative record deal and be at the mercy of some jumped up A&R man. The internet really has been a revolution in terms of taking back power and giving it to the bands (where it belongs). Record piracy is nothing new anyway. Its been going on since the 70s. Remember the whole "Home Taping is Killing Music" line that was being sold to us all ? Well I dunno but I think music is very much alive and kicking. The record companies didn't like it because it was eating into their massive profits. Anyone remember being ripped off £15 or £16 for a CD when they first came out in the 90s? Record companies have been having it good for years and failed to adapt to emerging ways or performing and producing music and have been bitten in the bum because of it. Stick it up your 'arris record companies - karma is a great thing.
 11.
My humblest apologies... I naturally assumed people would know that the HT5 is a combo...
No probs. Not sure if you're aware but they also do a head version of this too: http://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-amp-heads/pid20683/cid689/blackstar-ht5rh-5w-tube-head.asp
 12.
More respect lost for NME.
You mean you had some respect for them in the first place ?
 13. At the risk of sounding like a twat - this is the combo not the head.
 14.
Punk was a short-lived fashion thing ... it lasted slightly longer than hot pants. And now, flame away.
Nice try squire ... there's plenty of fishing programmes on National Geographic ... keep digging ...
 15.
I think the reason a few have suggested that one or two of the bands are pushing the definition of punk is that punk proper really only had a shelf life of about two years (76-78) before it was superseded by New Wave.
I don't know where you got that information from but in my opinion Punk from 79-82 was just as popular, as the punk that preceded it. Bands like Angelic Upstarts, The Dead Kennedys, Sham 69, The Adicts, The Cockney Rejects, Black Flag, The Anti-Nowhere League, the whole Oi! movement etc. I could go on for ages. Just because it wasn't on TOTP doesn't mean it wasn't popular. And if you argue that it was, then I think you'll find there was a fair amount of punk on TOTP after '78 too.
 16. I always check Andertons first to see if they've got what I'm looking for. I'd rather buy from them than anyone else.
 17.
From a thread on TB .. watch 4:15 - 4:55 He indeed says that Tom Sawyer was the Jazz and that Red Barchetta was Ric. But he also says that he thinks (doesn't seem totally sure) that Limelight was Ric as well. http://www.talkbass....er-tone-769793/
Hmmm... strange, if ever there was a Rick tone, I could swear that's it. Regardless though, its a superb bass tone. Oh well, shows how much I know. I should stick to guitar !
 18. Didn't their studio burn down recently too ? Blimey, they must have upset the gods of music somewhere down the line.
 19.
I listened to a 1974 live recording (Fly By Night era) the other day. You can see why they took off.
Bdooom - tish! I'm here all week ladies and gentlemen ! I still reckon his Rick tone on Tom Sawyer is hard to beat.
 20. Its, the internet. And the internet is serious !
 21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RZQCWLEn04 My favourite song at the moment after seeing them the other night.
 22. Up Round The Bend by Creedence Clearwater Revival - great tune that everyone knows and loves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34P18at0Q7s If you don't, you've got no soul and your going to hell. Wearing a pink tutu.
 23. I'll take this ... You have a PM mate.
 24. I've found this with a few drummers and other musicians too. I always tell them to their face and its up to them how they take it. It says a lot about a musician (and a person for that matter) who can't take constructive criticism. I personally love people telling me if I'm making a dog's arse of something as I always look to improve my playing and will take on board what they're saying. If a musician wants to spit the dummy out when someone offers constructive criticism then I don't think they're ever going to take what you say on board.
