1. I think he was pointing out the stupidity of music competitions.
2. Lovely guitars - I used to have the RG770 which is the one up from this, not sure what the difference is (pickups maybe ? ) but they've got a great trem on them. I usually hate Floyd Rose trems but I have to say, the Edge trem that Ibanez did back then was top notch. These are high quality Jap guitars and that price is a bargain. I'm tempted myself but I've got way too many guitars at the moment.
3. I find anyone who turns music into some sort of competition absolutely reprehensible. Music is subjective and was never meant as a competition. A point completely lost on these morons.
4. DR Hi-Beams or D'addario Pro-Steels. Nothing else comes close imo.
5. These are great tuners. I use one myself and have no complaints whatsoever.
6. Check out the Presonus Firestudio 10. That'll record drums into Logic very nicely on any operating system.
7.
I saw this - BBC4 has been great this weekend!
BBC4 is worth the license fee alone. Compared to Sky's offerings its years ahead.
8. I'll take the V6's if they're still around ? PM on its way.
9.
There's no political soapbox needed in this thread, only a charitable outlook on things if you are so inclined.
No political soapbox from me mate. Just debating with the nay-sayers who think that its all Mr Rainey's fault that he can't afford his medical bills whilst enjoying the safety net of the NHS in this country.
@WHUFC BASS: The quote in your sig about football now seems remarkably prescient, unfortunately.
Thanks. I'm just sick of everything good having a pound sign stuck on it and being marketed to death and the good being taken out of it.
10. Does anyone have any idea how high medical bills are in the U.S. ? All the people saying this is B.S. should really check out and see what's wrong with him before spouting off. Medical care in the U.S. is usually covered by insurance, but these premiums can be really high and many simply can't afford the medical care we take for granted over here. It makes me sad to see the uproar at Obama's healthcare plan when really its the right thing to do. This country should be proud of the NHS and resist any attempt that Cameron and his public school cronies have of trying to dismantle it.
11.
maybe because Americans are easily impressed by anyone with a British accent.
.....ahem... its an English accent. There's no such thing as a "British" accent.
12. Another satisfied Saffire user here. I've recorded a number of albums with it and it sounds great. Their pre-amps really are top notch considering the price. Beware of the Firewire though, if you use anything else on Firewire, it normally uses the same bus so there could be latency issues. The virtual mixing desk is great, as is the VRM software. I also use a Presonus Firestudio when I need more inputs which is also pretty nice too.
13. Best thing to do first is record him and let him hear how out of time he is. If he doesn't acknowledge he's out of time when he hears himself, he'll never get it and no amount of click track will get him in time. It certainly exposes any flaws in your playing when you record yourself - not just drums, but ALL instruments. Its a good way to break the news to him too that he's out of time instead of pointing the finger and saying basically you need to sort your life out.
14. Little story here about him. He went to the same school as me (a few years above me) and we used to have a Geography teacher who was a bit eccentric to say the least. Anyway, Budgie fell foul of him one day and he was made to stand in the corridor in just his underpants. After some tears he was allowed to come back into the classroom. Never really liked the Banshees and I agree with the above poster on the "other" Budgie:
15.
I would have to agree with you. I can't seem to grasp the merit behind some of this type of playing. To me this guy is more impressive I believe he's a member.
Yep - this fella is superb;
16. Superb bass player. Some of his lines were so influential when they came out. The Jameson influence can be plainly heard in there as well which is a good thing. One of my all time favourite players.
17.
I have both a Badass and a Gotoh 201. Both made dramatic improvements to the sustain of the bass, can't say which is my favourite though. If I were to do a third I would probably go for a Gotoh simply because they are cheaper and easier to get! Also, I think the Gotoh design is just a quality improvement on the original Fender whereas the Badass is almost a complete rethink - plus you may have to shim your neck with the BA because they sit high up.
Yep, Gotoh gets my vote for the simple reason the Badass sits too high to get a super low action on most basses. I've used both and for me the Gotoh was just a straight replacement with no height issues whatsoever.
18.
I freely admit my motivation for getting them was because I thought they would look damn cool, especially with some jewellery worn on top of them.
19.
wearing silk gloves worked for holger czukay...
and Joan Collins too !
20. Bought a DI box from Paul - superb hassle free and quick delivery. What more could you ask for ?
21. The good... Traben Chaos Core For the money, playability and sound-wise its hard to beat one of these I reckon. Had more basses pass through my hands than I can remember in my 20-odd years of playing and I love these more than almost anything I've ever played. The Bad ... Musicman Stingray They look the nuts but sound and playability-wise I just cannot get on with them. The sound always feels to me like there's a whole chunk of low end frequency removed that no amount of eq-ing can restore. The Ugly Never played one but they just look ugly to me. This example espcially. Horrible colour.... yuk.
