We play rock too but the core of our music is English Ceilidh like The Princess Royal, Clompton Bridge, Pepper in the Brandy etc. English but the general public think they are Irish or Scots because they are diddly... That's my point. If we were a rock covers band there would not be this problem - and we'd not get the call asking us to play Burns/St Pats/Andrews/Georges night...
Ah...I see what you mean now. How about some John Tams' stuff? He's the one that stars in Sharp and also sings the theme tune. His music is pretty damn good as it goes, real English folk. http://www.johntams.co.uk/johntams/index.cfm Also, I went to the the play Warhorse not so long ago and they had a bloke doing some of John Tarns' songs. Really good stuff, in fact, better than the play I reckon.
2.
We got asked to play St Georges night "An English themed night" Er ... What would you play after Greensleeves and Roots?
Err....how about The Who, The Jam, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Stones, The Specials, Madness, Ian Dury...christ almighty they're all English. Why does everyone think you have to go back to Medieval times to celebrate your own culture??
3.
The The and The Smiths crikey the '80s were chock full of great music.
Watched a film on Saturday that The The did the music for called "Tony". Blimey, what a bleak film that was. Good though in a dark sort of way.
4. Great for building up speed and improving left hand technique. Stanley Clarke used to rave about Bach.
5. The best Punk / Oi! era by far I reckon...
6. Top drawer... super quick delivery.
7. that is f***ing ghastly. Icemans look like a bag ladies period to start off with but that colour scheme is hideous.
8.
I've told you once.
This isn't an argument, this is just silly.
9.
Good man! Talking of Bernard, many years ago I picked up a cassette (remember them?) in my local Our Price Records (remember them?) by a band called Distance. Someone recognised the names of Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson, and filed this album under "Soul & Funk". I got it home and discovered that it was arse-kicking rock! And Bernard still sounded like himself. (I've recently got the CD version)
Remember the band Power Station? Bernard played on Get It On too... Tony Thompson on drums too. I think he died a while back.
10.
Bow tie and no hat?? What was I thinking! First outting for my new Wood and Tronics Ergon ...
Goody f***in' Gum drops!
11. Can't believe this hasn't gone - any metal players out there should snap this up. They're great. Sorry to keep banging on about them but they really are underatted basses.
12. They're great basses. I've got a five string Chaos Core and they're great for metal, punk, rock and well...almost anything really. Like a Stingray on steroids. I don't think I'd ever use any other basses now, I'm perfectly happy with the sound of my Traben basses. The Chaos bridge is a lot nicer looking that the ugly slab of metal bridges on the other model - oh and its true, the sound from these is huge. The Rockfield pre-amp to me sounds better than the Aguilar pre-amp for live work, although the Aguilar does sound nice when recorded. Have a bump for a great bass.
13. Brilliant. I loved the series when it was out in the 1980s. Great song and lyrics too.
14. They're great guitars if you like the Floyd Rose trem system. I used to own the RG770 which was the one up from this one. Great pickups and trem (if I remember rightly is the Edge trem system which is the next best thing to an original Floyd). I sold mine simply because the Floyd was too much trouble for the amount of times I actually used it. Still great guitars and the Wizard neck is really great for shredding on.
15. The f***ing f***faces.... People will be falling over themselves to book you
16. Yep no problem mate, its a great guitar trust me! PM me your number and we can arrange something.
17. Bumpus Maximus.... Great guitar for all you bass players who want to learn to play
18.
I'm in Nottingham it would be like £12.50 parcelforce.
OK, at the moment I'd still rather this was picked up rather than posted as I've had problems with arsehole force in the past and really don't want to see this guitar lost or damaged. If its not sold within a couple of weeks I may reconsider as I need to shift this and my other Washburn thats for sale.
19. I'm also selling my Washburn Idol 150 HM Series guitar. Here's the blurb..... The Washburn WI50 is made especially for shredders. It boasts a fast rosewood fingerboard and mahogany neck with star fretboard inlays. The stop tail bridge design works great with your guitars natural resonant sustain. Features Body Type: HM Idol Body Wood: Mahogany Neck Joint: Set Neck Wood: Mahogany Fretboard: Rosewood Neck Shape: Thin Frets: 22 Bridge: Stoptail Pickup Bridge: Randall Ultra XL Pickup Neck: Randall UL Controls: 2V / 2T Tuners: Grover Hardware color: Black Pickup selector: Toggle Finish: Gloss This is a thick bodied guitar but is fairly light. Great for rock and metal and really easy to play. It is an almost brand new guitar and they go for around the £399, I'm looking for around the £150 mark
20. Here's the pics. Might be willing to post. It depends whereabouts. Also forgot to mention that there are screw-holes where the original tuning pegs were.
