1. Never really got the relic thing.... seems to me people buy it to make them look more interesting than they really are.
2. If you can, go for a B1100s. Its active and the output and sound is really impressive. From memory you can add Fender aftermarket parts no problem. This one here is identical to my old one, except mine was fretless.
3.
Welcome WHUFC, thanks for the Yamaha BB info
No probs, glad to be of service!
can i have your precision?
Thats another one that I've had for a while now and probably won't sell. Its now got a replacement Jazz neck and a Kent Armstrong Vintage Hot pickup in it and it sounds the mutts nuts. They're relatively cheap pickups but they sound 100% better than the stock pickups and really capture the precisions sound.
Good to have a happy Hammer in the club I'm afraid I'm a born 'n' bred Gooner (and season ticket holder) but West Ham have always been a bit of a second team for me and I have a lot of Hammer friends. Looks like you need to trade one of those nice Jazzes for a US Standard Strat to me - obviously I'm not simply saying this because I happen to have a new one sitting in my garage that never gets played
Season ticket owner?? That's expensive, think of the great basses you could buy with that. I'm also a season ticket holder but a West Ham ST isn't anywhere near as expensive as an Arsenal ST. As for the trade, now if it was a Les Paul I'd be interested but single coils just don't do it for me. Sorry.
4.
Yes, but you may know that us Newcastle fans are hopeless optimists so we'll win the next one..LOL
I think we wrote the book and printed the t-shirts on optimism at West Ham alrght woodenshirt, I was at the game yesterday and couldn't believe what Fuller did. Really did us a favour though and I think you lost the match because of that. Oh well! Haven't got the Thunderbirds any more, I sold them to buy guitars (I know - sacrilege). They did sound good though.
5. Garageband is a great tool - all this lot on this page was recorded using garageband.... http://www.myspace.com/swornallegiancelondon
6. I've never given polls like this any credence. You can't really, what is good for one person my not float another person's boat. I wouldn't let it get to you, I remember a guitarist poll that put Kirk Hammett ahead of Django Reinhardt. Two totally opposite end of the spectrum players who in my opinion would be like comparing apples to oranges.
7. Cheers for the welcome Steve... yes West Ham fan for my sins...I won't mention Newcastle, bit of a sore point at the moment I'd imagine LOL!. Oh and you're right about the 5-string Corvette. Its the one bass I've vowed never to sell.
8. I used to have a Yamaha BB1100s which was fretless in the early 1990s. From memory it had an ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and PJ pickup config. Quite a nice bass, used it quite a lot in an originals band I was in. Neck is a slim precision type neck.
9. 'allo. Was on here many moons ago, before it had a face lift. Still playing a bit of bass, but playing a lot more guitar now (sorry.... ) Still got a few basses though. Up until recently this was my arsenal....
10. New punk band just need a bass player to complete the line-up. We all play in bands well known on the punk / oi! scene and are doing this as a second band project. We have a set more or less written and will have gigs (both UK and abroad) once we are happy with the set up. We have an extensive list of promoters who would be willing to put us on. The music is original stuff, influenced by bands such as Cocksparrer, Cockney Rejects, Rancid, Ramones, Stranglers, Dropkick Murphys, Blitz, Rose Tattoo etc. Its loud raw and in your face old school punk rock and we need a solid bass player. There's a myspace page of music which has a DEMO version of some of the songs we will be doing (the vocals will not be done by the person singing here): http://www.myspace.com/swornallegiancelondon The name of the band is also changing too. We're not looking for Stanley Clarke or Jaco, we need a SOLID bass player. Transport would be useful but no essential - we rehearse in East London. The age range of the band is 24, 39, 42 and 45. So as you can see, age isn't really important to us, as long as you fit it. If you're interested, PM or email me. Cheers
