  1. It was a great bass at the time…first active bass
  2. Used to gig with a 12 pound RD Artist…always felt heavy. My 10 pound Mpv feels good, has really good balance.
  3. For me, it does. I find styles of music that tend to move up into the dusty end, like some jazz, easier when the bass sits higher. I move it down some for rock or country. Btw, I’ve been using the same strap since 1976.
  4. Currently have Low Tension flats on my fretless Spectracore. They work well, but don’t have any kind of resonance. Not sure what would, so they stay on. If I could use coated strings, I’d do Exilers…
  5. This is my experience as well….
  6. A long time ago, I was known to lug bass, amp, upright bass, and maybe even a tuba around, usually for a pit gig. Everyone has different tastes, but I cannot imagine schlepping an upright around for any type of music genre. Practicing some big band jazz, I was thinking how much easier it is on fret less 5, especially when moving up the neck. We discuss all the time the ability of modern amp modeling to eliminate the need for our favorite rig. Does this hold for the sound of an upright as well? Is it the look and vibe that keeps upright players going?
  7. Like this?
  8. Best purchase was my Trace smx head. Not much for worst…probably the 4x10 cab that came with it…great sound but could be a lot lighter.
  9. Sounds like a bunch of wanna-be, timewasting, amateurs to me. If you enjoy that process enough, stick. If not, walk away. It’s probably not going to change though.
  10. I’ll admit that Ibanez, Sandburg, and G&L make cracking basses…I just don’t get on with the necks.
  11. Not much, really… -maple fretboards -Rics -coffee table basses -led fret markers -super skinny necks
  12. Anybody else find a difference in straps? I have a wide solid leather strap purchased in 1975. Never slipped off a bass and still going strong. I bought a padded one last year and had to get those cheap plastic twisty locks to keep it on.
  13. A couple of actual gig photos....Think I need to take my tuner off the headstock next time.... drive-download-20231204T113902Z-001.zip
  14. A second gig depping with Stevie Daniels at the Blue Bell in Werrington. Small room but great crowd…lots of fun to play for.
  15. Best live tone was a 63 Jazz, half rounds, music man head into an 18. What I’ve got now might be better…mpv5 through a Trace rig.
  16. That whole album is amazing….
  17. Jackson Browne “The Load Out”…anthem for musicians everywhere.Makes me smile every time I hear it!
  18. Funny enough, I’m the only one in the group who has come to that conclusion….
  19. I almost quit after the covers band I was with went a year without a gig. After sitting in with a few groups, I stumbled into a country band the seems destined to do everything but get gig-ready. Finally, I got a steady dep gig with another country group of great guys. I’m pretty happy about how it’s headed now.
  20. I’m thinking about only have 2..fretted and Fretless.
  21. This is me as well…I like the Yamaha, but it gets a bit wide at the dusty end.
  22. How close is the sound?
  23. My 15” cab is not bad…that 410 cab though…
  24. That’s it…just a misspelling and attempt to avoid the filter
  25. “Like new, never gigged”
