4. I'm moving on this lovely bass as just isn't getting played since I bought my Rob Allen. It's a Fender Japan CIJ '62 reissue Jazz bass in 3 tone sunburst, alder body, lined fretless rosewood fretboard and US vintage pickups. It's been upgraded with CTS posts, Switchcraft jack socket and an oil paper Vitamin Q capacitor. This work was carried out by Jonathan at Feline Guitars who also set up the bass. It dates from 2004-2006 according to its Rxxxxx serial number. Specs in the following link: http://www.theguitar...-FJ-JB62-FL.htm It's in excellent condition and comes with a standard Fender Japan gig bag. Currently strung with standard guage DR HiBeam Flats. Collection from my home in Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace, South London preferred. I can post at cost. Price is £575. 5. If you go for it get it fitted by a luthier unless you know what you're doing. Jonathan at Feline Guitars in Croydon did mine. An excellent job and much cheaper than what Status quoted. As for the sound/feel - there are so many conflicting opinions on this. And it depends on what you want from your bass. If the opportunity arises to try one out for yourself this would be best. I have a fretted and fretless fitted to two different Stingrays. I really like them. The profile is more a D shape and the feel and quality of finish is sublime. They are both warm and mellow sounding necks - quite the opposite of what most say they should sound like! I wouldn't fit one to my Precision though. I think it would take the P bass quality too far away from what I want from that particular bass.
6. Neil has just bought my Godin A5SA. He drove all the way from Stafford to London and now faces the long trek home. He'll do anything for the bass he loves . He's a great guy, modest and with some very interesting stories. Shame you live so far away. Would be great to go for a pint sometime. Highly recommended. Until next time on BC! Derrick
7. I have fretted and fretless Status necks on two of my Stingrays. I love 'em. They don't sound bright or clinical. They just sound good. The tone is still in the fingers as far as I'm concerned. If anything the tone of my fretted Status Ray is a little more well mannered than my '83 maple necked Ray. I have a 62 RI CIJ fretless Jazz that I'm thinking of moving on as to me the fretless Status Ray wins every time. And I'm not a fan of the full blown status sound at all. I'm based in Crystal Palace, South London. OP is welcome to drop in and check them out for himself if necessary.
8. I went last night at the O2 in London. Great gig - fantastic staging. Someone's got to snatch these tickets up. Tony Levin on bass, David Rhodes on guitar and Manu Katché on drums - awesome!

11.
I usually practice about 3 to 6 hours per day. Sometimes more or less, depending on gig schedule and teaching. I usually pick a tune and learn it inside out. With Transcriptions. Then record the line..... and analyze what has to be changed , or improved, + the usual rythmical exercices... and scales... etc... have to keep in shape for students... my latest : Tim Lefvebre is a ******** animal on this tune. Give it a go. good luck... you'll need it ;-) it took me a while... and still i don't get it "right"... lol
This is fantastic. Though the musicianship and ideas in this deserve a far better tune. Great sequencing and great playing.
12. I have the the Mk 1 version of this. These are excellent and versatile preamps. Have a bump!
13. When you compare high end basses to top of the line other instruments I find basses relatively cheap. Admittedly other instrumentalists don't have to spalsh out on amplification like we do - but when you consider a professional flute will cost you between £5000-12000, the price of bass seems reasonable. The flautist may not have a dozen instruments and never ending GAS though

15.
I quite like these basses from the demos I've seen. Two questions here would you consider a trade plus cash and where are you located?
Hi. I'm based in Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace, South London. Thanks, but I'm after a straight sale really. I need to recoup some funds after splashing out on another instrument. I've thought about trades, but there's nothing I really want at the moment - well maybe a Wal or a Vigier

24. I have a NBD coming soon with a high end fretless coming my way.... ....so regrettably I have to sell my lovely Godin A5 SA to pay for it. It's in excellent condition, sounds lovely with a monster tone. The 3 band eq preamp is fantastic and I've found this a versatile instrument in jazz, acoustic music and salsa. It's a 34" scale five string with fret lines and dots on the top edge of the fingerboard. Spruce top, maple neck and ebony fingerboard. It has the synth access din plug next to the jack output for connecting to a Roland guitar synth if that's your thing. It comes with the Godin gigbag (a really nice deluxe thing) and I have a box so can post if required, but collection is preferred. Postage will be a bit extra, but I will charge at cost. In the past someone has strung this with roundwounds and there is some very faint scoring on the fretboard. This can be seen, but not felt. Running my finger across it I cannot tell it's there. Price is £750.
