1. Hel-lo! What a beauty! If I had the cash I'd buy it just so that no-one else could have it ...but I'm wiped out so have a bump instead!
2. It's in getting a fret dress right now. Gonna be schweeet when it comes back. Changing the pots - noI don't think so. But changing the capacitor changes the way the treble roll off behaves and the tone control becomes much more subtle and useable.
3. Bump for a great pedal and a great BCer. David is a top guy - buy with confidence. Hey David - the Fender P I bought from you is rapidly becoming my No. 1 bass. I get so many compliments about its looks and immense tone. I just love it!
4. I bought a heavy duty mic stand from this heavy duty Basschatter. Nice guy to deal with. He was even wearing his BC t-shirt. 'Nuff said!
5. I bought my MM Cutlass from Pierre. Nice guy to deal with. Did I mention I've got a MM Cutlass?
6. Amazing! You wait around for years hoping to pick up a Cutlass. You give up hope. Then two turn up in a week on your favourite forum - and one in your own back yard! .....and hey! By tomorrow the other Cutlass will be residing in my front yard Bump for my Cutlass brother
7. ..but the funniest of the lot! Big chuckles on a Friday evening. Top marks to you Mr Throwoff BOOM! Two pickups - genius!
8. Wish I had the cash for this. Have a bump on me.
9. You sir...have lovely chops. My wild guess: 1 - MIM 2 - '71 3- '58
10. I bought David's CIJ Fender P. A really nice guy to deal with. He provided plenty of pics and hid nothing. The bass was sent very well packaged too. Buy from him in the Czech Republic in confidence.
11. 5 grand for the Midi Wal Really? That Stingray looks mint. But collectors only at that price.
12. Mmmmm...red P ........must not buy.......just bought blue P.........must.........resist.......
13.
And SOLD, thanks to all for interest.
...and sold to me. Mods please suspend my account now so that I cannot spend any more money on BC!
14. Great! Congratulations - that is some deal. Drop me a PM when you're ready. I'll buy the HT115.
15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110845058762?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1008 I nearly bid on this. But my conscience got the better of me as I'm trying to reduce debt, not increase it. And I really couldn't see where I'd use it all as my Berg 210 serves me so well. It went for a steal in the end. Bugger. Should have put a bid in.
16. Also worth looking into the Nordstrand 60s and 70s wind NJ4. The standard 60s wind NJ4 will give you the "classic" tone. The 70s wind have a bit more presence and poke to them. I've got them both: I started with the 60s wind in my 75 RI, and then transplanted them into my 66 RI and got the 70s wind for the 75.
17. For me: Bunch of mates from school/college/friends/musicians knocking about getting together, forming a band and making it - authentic. Bunch of random bods auditioning to be in the latest group put together by a puppet master - not authentic. However, I like and listen to music from both camps. I don't mind as long as the pop act is not pretending to be something it's not.
18. It might be worth a look at the classical Grade 8 syllabus for double bass: http://www.abrsm.org/fileadmin/user_upload/syllabuses/doubleBass0812.pdf
19.
The piece Wooten is playing in the video in the OP is a snippet from a live version of this - You might not change your opinion of whether you like it or not, but it's only fair that you see it in a decent quality. The video you posted initially is bloody awful and would make any bassist sound sh!t IMO. Level playing field for basing your opinion
I've watched this video dozens of times. It never ceases to amaze me. It's just beautiful and soulful music and a lovely composition. I'm not a VW follower. I don't have any records. Just know him from Youtube and that led me to read his book The Music Lesson. I do recognise that when you do Bass Clinics for a living, people (bass players) will want to see you do pyrotechnics. And those are the bits that people will record on their camera phones and post on YT unfortunately. A lot of his observations on music are inspiring and make a lot of sense. I wish there were more of these on YT to balance out the flashy stuff.
20. To reiterate what's already been said before but to add: For me, when you buy MIJ/CIJ you know what you are going to get. There are very few duds, if any at all. Of all the MIJs I've played none have surprised me. You know what their strengths are going to be and also their weaknesses. I'd buy a MIJ off the internet without much hesitation (and have on multiple times now) but I'd want to see and try a MIM or a MIA first.
