1. Might have been posted already (let's face it - most of the good ones have!), but classic house music from Masters at Work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE-FuloXH5Q
2. Thanks. I'll look out for the Bass Bash. Hopefully I can make it along. And yes that Passion III is lusty
3. Everyone - thanks so much for all of this. And Ped - some terrific info. What an amazing response - ought to be a sticky This is all far more complex than first thought. I'll have to have a good think about this - and save for a long, long time..... Thanks all again. Derrick
4. I'd be grateful if someone can tell me the difference between the Vigier Passion and Arpege - apart from pickup placement of course. Are they very different instruments - tonally and playability? Also is there a reason why some (particularly the older ones) seem reasonably priced while others of the same model are eye wateringly expensive (the newer ones). Did they change dramatically through the 80s, 90s and basses of today? Thanks for any help. It's not an easy bass to get to try out! Derrick

8. Matt bought my Nordstrand NP4 pickup. An excellent guy to deal with. Buy from/sell to with confidence
9. And I bought piereeganseman's Cutlass...... It's absolutely awesome. Or should that be +++AWESOME+++ ...and this one looks to be in nicer cosmetic condition. If I had another £2000 I would buy this as well. Just so that no one else could have it The same week there was another Cutlass that also sold quickly. That had an asking price of £2000.
10.
Funnily enough, I was out drinking in London with some friends last night. There was a bloke in the corner of the pub who seemed to be having a bit of trouble getting his phone connected to the wi-fi, but one he got on, he settled down a bit, only twitching and making small screaming noises every so often, and at one point seemed to sing a quick burst of "If I were a rich man, sosososo". He quietened down eventually. Other than that, it was a pretty average night at the pub. Dave started talking about missing his ex-girlfriend halfway through his fifth pint, exactly on cue, then headed off to meet some new girl after his eighth. Steve turned up just after Dave's eighth pint, when he knew it was safe to talk about how much he's enjoying Dave's ex-girlfriend. Rob attempted to chat up the barmaid with little success, again. Andy's club flyer origami sculptures are getting more obscene. One thing which stilted the atmosphere (other than the odd guy in the corner) was that it was raining, kicked up some odd smells from the canal outside for the wind to waft through the door, and there seemed to be some commotion getting a narrowboat up to the next section of the canal. Which pub was it? It was the Inn Before the Lock.

You sir, are a genius Si
+1. Post of the year (so far)
11.
It needs something playing 16ths whether it's the hi hat or maracas or wee shakey egg or something to bring the rhythm together. Try it at home folks and all of a sudden they sound almost...er.... not crap. edit : it would also help if the brass section was in tune. 12. Hel-lo! What a beauty! If I had the cash I'd buy it just so that no-one else could have it ...but I'm wiped out so have a bump instead!
13. It's in getting a fret dress right now. Gonna be schweeet when it comes back. Changing the pots - noI don't think so. But changing the capacitor changes the way the treble roll off behaves and the tone control becomes much more subtle and useable.
14. Bump for a great pedal and a great BCer. David is a top guy - buy with confidence. Hey David - the Fender P I bought from you is rapidly becoming my No. 1 bass. I get so many compliments about its looks and immense tone. I just love it!
15. I bought a heavy duty mic stand from this heavy duty Basschatter. Nice guy to deal with. He was even wearing his BC t-shirt. 'Nuff said!
16. I bought my MM Cutlass from Pierre. Nice guy to deal with. Did I mention I've got a MM Cutlass?
17. Amazing! You wait around for years hoping to pick up a Cutlass. You give up hope. Then two turn up in a week on your favourite forum - and one in your own back yard! .....and hey! By tomorrow the other Cutlass will be residing in my front yard Bump for my Cutlass brother
18. ..but the funniest of the lot! Big chuckles on a Friday evening. Top marks to you Mr Throwoff BOOM! Two pickups - genius!
19. Wish I had the cash for this. Have a bump on me.
20. You sir...have lovely chops. My wild guess: 1 - MIM 2 - '71 3- '58
21. I bought David's CIJ Fender P. A really nice guy to deal with. He provided plenty of pics and hid nothing. The bass was sent very well packaged too. Buy from him in the Czech Republic in confidence.
