some kind of amplification to leave round my girlfriends?

Any good closed-back studio tracking/monitoring headphones would be good - something like the Beyer DT100/DT150 which is the industry standard. Anything higher end and you'll need a high quality headphone amp to get the best out of them. iPod style headphones are rubbish for this sort of thing and not very nice to listen too over extended periods.
Erm, this was the original case, I also have an SB900 with exactly the same case. A quick google will show you others with this guitar shaped case also from the 70's. I have a 1981 and a 1982 which came with the rectangular case. I think this bass was also mine at one point!
Hi Steve, Yep this is your old bass! Loved owning it and playing it. Just haven't got a gig for it, and with a rather special 'Ray on the way I sadly have to let this go. Wish I could afford to keep it. Good to hear from you, all the best to the family, Derrick
Original cases were rectangular, with "Aria Pro II Super Bass Series", in silver lettering, in the lower right-hand corner.
Thanks - I was told it was original when I bought it - but nothing on the case to prove as much so I didn't take much notice. Regardless whether original or not - it's useless. I'll throw in a gigbag if you have nothing to take it home in

Regretfully needing to sell my 1979 Aria SB-1000 to make way for an incoming Stingray. It's the early version with the batwing headstock, in oak finish and a great player. Condition - I'd give it 8.5 out of 10. No damage or anything major but a number of minor scuffs and dings. I've shown these in the photos. The neck is good with one ding on the back around the 4th fret - but it doesn't interfere with playing. I only notice it when I'm looking for it. It's been re-fretted (well) in its recent past - frets are in new condition with no wear at all. Set-up by Jonathan at Feline Guitars in Croydon. Fast, low action and strung with old standard guage DR Hi-Beams. Electronics are original and all work fine, with no scratches or buzzes. The case is a shaped hard case. Possibly original - certainly as old as the bass. However it is falling apart and needs new hinges. It is not useable for anything apart from lying flat. Collection or local delivery preferred, but will post if I have to and if I can find a suitable box and packaging. Price £600 plus postage. Thanks for looking - any questions please ask. BTW - the mark on the back of the headstock running through the serial number is not a repaired crack. It's in the varnish, not the wood. That would go nicely in the gimp room. That reminds me.... We're running low on oranges.

Hmmm...... I'm quite happy with the tracking on my BOD. It does lose it's composure on the ends of long sustains with the pitch shift effect that you describe. But only really on the long sustains. I use mine with a Stingray and an active Fender Jazz. I rate it over the EBS Octabass I had before, also the octaver on my MB Super Synth.

I thought it was a very good ad. Informative and specific. I ruled myself out on the time commitment bit. The ad saved my own time with me deciding not to jump through the hoops chasing this one. I think the picture is a good idea - shows whether I'm going to fit in - should I take a Precision or the Bootsy Star bass (I wish) I couldn't find any info on Shuga Management though....

I've decided to sell my EBS Dynaverb pedal. It's the True Bypass version, in as new condition with a removable velcro strip on the bottom. Original box and info sheet/manual included. Great sounding reverb - very clean. Check out the demos on the EBS site: http://www.bass.se/ and follow the menu to products>pedals>Dynaverb. Price: £95 posted Cheers, Derrick
Have you adjusted the truss rod? In this cold weather it's likely that it will need a tweak, sounds like you might need to slacken it off a touch to add a bit of neck relief if your strings are touching the frets. Measure it first, naturally. If I were you I'd take it to a decent luthier for a set up and get them to check the wiring.
As above! And if the circuit board problem cannot be rectified I'd recommend one of John East's replacement preamps. Stick with it. There's probably a great bass in there once it's sorted out properly.

Perhaps the most famous bass line of them all? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4IRMYuE1hI
There is some discussion here. It's true that the older model doesn't have a "true-bypass" bypass mode, but it can be modified easily enough to be true bypass (I've done the mod myself and I don't know anything about electricities).
Thisnameistaken, I meant to say thanks for putting me onto the TB thread - but I got swept away by BMS lust Cheers, Derrick
