1.
Spotted this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/G-L-L2000-active-bas...=item1c0dbff668 much cheapness for this brand new bass considering I sold mine second hand for £749
That's a Tribute series bass - made in Indonesia. And without checking, I think it's going rate for brand new. Quite a misleading title there. Derrick
 2.
this is a bloody gorgeous bass that I bought when I had some success with an indie band. it's a fantastic bass, but these days i'm mostly playing jazz/funk and i'm playing a lot more guitar. my stingray suits my 4 string needs a bit better with the active pre, and my main gigging bass is my 6 string, since I use the low B so much. might trade for an old fender bass (J ideal, maybe P, let me know what you have), or an old fender strat... but surprise me, let me know what's going on! but again - I'll only trade for something that really catches my eye. she's in good nick, but an old bass that has been played a lot, and it shows - started to yellow, a couple of dings from general wear and tear, one small chip on the lacquer over the fretboard, frets in good condition, one of the tuners is a bit loose but if anyone is interested i'd take her to the shop to get her sorted out (it wasn't an issue for me). also, i never had the bridge pickup horseshoe for this bass. again, a fantastic bass, just can't justify having this much money tied up in a bass that i just have no need for anymore.
Please don't take this the wrong way: I've always thought Ricks to have such a weird shape - nice, but wierd. Seeing your "power stance" in the second picture I totally get it now. It looks great!. That bass was made for you I'd say keep it - it's beautiful. But if must sell - would you sell for cash?
 3.
Plus he sold more JayDees, Statii, Alembics, Pangborns and Trace Elliot than anyone else! I recall my first serious bass rig, a Trace AH250 head with a 4 x 10 cabinet (and later, an additional 1 x 15 and Brite Box!) back in 87 when I was 16 - my parents never gave me pocket money and I was never ever spoilt as a kid but Dad promised me that if I did well in my O levels I would get something bass related! The local shop `Music Village' where I worked as the Saturday boy stocked some awesome bass gear back then, including Trace and I had the choice between a brand new MusicMan StingRay with a Laney 4 x 10 combo (which was a good amp) or a Trace rig....! I will never forget the day I got in late from school and the entire house was dark, except for this weird glow coming from the front room and there it was, the AH250 sat atop the 4 x 10 with the UV light on! The sound was incredible - I had my Fender Precision and an Aria Cat active - the Aria had one of those `bass or treble' active knobs and I used to attempt the L42 stuff with that until around mid '88 when I got my first JayDee! Thanks Mum and Dad for all their help (even though it was always `turn that bl++dy thing down' whilst they were trying to enjoy `Bergerac' downstairs!) and to Mark for the influence! Sad eh? Nick
That's such a lovely story! And it brings back memories and comparisons to my Dad setting aside money and buying me my Trace Elliot MkIII head at the same age as reward for doing well in my O Level exams. We bought it from Monkey Business in Essex (Whatever happened to them?) and cost an astonishing £660. I'll never forget that. I used it for a good while with a JBL 2x15 cab until one day I chanced upon a Loot advert flogging off Mark King's old 4x10 cabs (Level 42 sprayed on the back - he switched to the Mesa rig). I had one of those! The obligatory 1x15 came later but it was so much, and being without a car I think I only ever used the full rig a couple of times on a gig. Derrick
 4.
I can't wait to see my missus face when another Bass turns up! Oh well she will get over it - after giving me a good kicking!
Stop it Steve! You're out of control! But it sure is pretty..... Sandberg......Mmmmm....
 5. Hi, How about a mic stand bag? Studiospares carry quite a few in different sizes: [url="http://www.studiospares.com/bin/venda?ex=co_wizr-locayta&template=wz_locayta&pageno=1&perpage=10&collate=pdxtleadtype%3Apdxtplug1%3Apdxtplug2%3Apdxtlength%3Apdxtcolour%3Aivtype%3Aprice%3Acat%3Abrand%3Apdxtpowerrating%3Apdxtimpedance%3Apdxtbacktype%3Apdxtheight%3Apdxtinputs%3Apdxtoutputs%3Apdxtinternalmic%3Apdxtrecordingmedium%3Apdxtscardtype%3Apdxtscardmidiio%3Apdxtscardinputs%3Apdxtscardoutputs&refine_sort_alph=&fieldrtype=type&termtextrtype=invt&typertype=exact&typekeywordsearch=keyword&termtextkeywordsearch=mic+stand+bag&searchsubmit.x=0&searchsubmit.y=0"]http://www.studiospares.com/bin/venda?ex=c...earchsubmit.y=0 Derrick
 6.
Repair shop? The tuner? I am cool D, was lovely to meet you and the family. My son wants to know when your coming down again! I sold the fretless as want something slightly better, really want a Wal which is my teenage dream instrument after growing up with Mick Karn. Cheers, Steve.
Steve, No just a set up, cleaning up the scratchy electronics, sorting the loose volume knob and reseating the top nut. And it was great how the kids just got along. My two could have stayed and played all day. Give us a shout if you're up in South London. Derrick
 7.
Just a Fretless to add to the family and I am done! (until the gas hits me again!) Marcus Miller, Sadowsky Jazz, Fender US P, Fender US Jazz
I think you need something 80s - an Aria perhaps How's it going Steve? I'm enjoying the SB1000 a lot - more than i thought I would actually. It's at the repair shop at the moment receiving some TLC. I thought you already had a fretless? Take care mate, Derrick
 8. "Bump to cluster the late 70's P's" Right back at 'cha. Red or natural - the choice is yours
 9. A mate of mine has one of the early 80s walnut Stratocasters. Black pickguard, gold plated hardware - absolutely stunning. Sounds good but goes out of tune quickly (don't they all ) His strat is actually called "Strat" on the headstock - not "Stratocaster" and I also remember being about the same time as the early 80s Elite series.
 10. Tasty! Good work. You just need a bit more work on the groove face
 11. Can somebody please buy joegarcia's Sabre.....so he can then buy my Fender P BUMP!
 12.
Very tempted by this bass...If you don't mind me asking? Are those pots original ones or they've been replaced? Just asking because the one on the left looks too new and different to the ones I've seen before.
PaulBass, To be honest I really couldn't tell you. I know a good bit about Fenders but I'm not an expert. When I bought this I bought it from a guy who had owned it for 20 years. I asked if he ever had any work done to it (roundabout was of asking him if it was all original) and he told me that he had one of the pots reconditioned - not replaced, but reconditioned. He himself had bought the bass when it was ten years old. Your right about the pot looking different, but I really don't know what it should look like to say. Everything else about this Fender "looks right". Nothing stands out as being newer/changed/different. All the wear and tear and ageing looks consistent across the instrument. G'wan
 13.
You may want to read the Couriers thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625
Thanks Old Git. Some useful info there, though no real surprises (you get what you pay for and all that). Personally I've found Parcel2Go to be OK. Whenever I've had a problem with them (twice - both missed collections) it's been when I've booked DHL. Unfortunately they don't seem to act as agents for UPS anymore.
 14. Awesome....just awesome.. If only I had the room - I'd have these simply for "old times" sake.
 15.
I can promise anyone, this bass is unbreakable.
The first time I laid eyes on a Steinberger was in the original Bass Centre in Wapping (the small showroom upstairs). The guy on the floor was demonstrating to another customer how strong it was. He lifted it to head height and dropped it on the floor. It wasn't even out of tune. I saved up and bought one, sold it years later when it was unfashionable and needed cash for other things and have always regretted parting with it. I'd have another in an instant if I could find one and actually afford one. And it was the best built bass I have ever seen from any era.
 16.
Hi! Do you ship to France?
Hi, I think I can ship the bass to France for about £35 - with tracking but uninsured. The shipping cost is pretty reasonable as I can book it via www.parcel2go.com. I can pack it in its case and in a cardboard outer box padded with packing material. Let me know if you're interested. Derrick
 17.
I thought Bands like Chic, (and that type of music) were a complete waste of time (personal opinion only) so didn't ever bother listening to the Bass line, or even know who the Bassist was. I had to Google his name to find out who you were talking about-sorry.
Fair enough, but listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVWaAAsbahI You know the tune. You can't tell me that's not a sublime tone and in the pocket groove. ...and can anyone tell me how to embed the youtube link in the post?
