1. Tasty! Good work. You just need a bit more work on the groove face
 2. Can somebody please buy joegarcia's Sabre.....so he can then buy my Fender P BUMP!
 3.
Very tempted by this bass...If you don't mind me asking? Are those pots original ones or they've been replaced? Just asking because the one on the left looks too new and different to the ones I've seen before.
PaulBass, To be honest I really couldn't tell you. I know a good bit about Fenders but I'm not an expert. When I bought this I bought it from a guy who had owned it for 20 years. I asked if he ever had any work done to it (roundabout was of asking him if it was all original) and he told me that he had one of the pots reconditioned - not replaced, but reconditioned. He himself had bought the bass when it was ten years old. Your right about the pot looking different, but I really don't know what it should look like to say. Everything else about this Fender "looks right". Nothing stands out as being newer/changed/different. All the wear and tear and ageing looks consistent across the instrument. G'wan
 4.
You may want to read the Couriers thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625
Thanks Old Git. Some useful info there, though no real surprises (you get what you pay for and all that). Personally I've found Parcel2Go to be OK. Whenever I've had a problem with them (twice - both missed collections) it's been when I've booked DHL. Unfortunately they don't seem to act as agents for UPS anymore.
 5. Awesome....just awesome.. If only I had the room - I'd have these simply for "old times" sake.
 6.
I can promise anyone, this bass is unbreakable.
The first time I laid eyes on a Steinberger was in the original Bass Centre in Wapping (the small showroom upstairs). The guy on the floor was demonstrating to another customer how strong it was. He lifted it to head height and dropped it on the floor. It wasn't even out of tune. I saved up and bought one, sold it years later when it was unfashionable and needed cash for other things and have always regretted parting with it. I'd have another in an instant if I could find one and actually afford one. And it was the best built bass I have ever seen from any era.
 7.
Hi! Do you ship to France?
Hi, I think I can ship the bass to France for about £35 - with tracking but uninsured. The shipping cost is pretty reasonable as I can book it via www.parcel2go.com. I can pack it in its case and in a cardboard outer box padded with packing material. Let me know if you're interested. Derrick
 8.
I thought Bands like Chic, (and that type of music) were a complete waste of time (personal opinion only) so didn't ever bother listening to the Bass line, or even know who the Bassist was. I had to Google his name to find out who you were talking about-sorry.
Fair enough, but listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVWaAAsbahI You know the tune. You can't tell me that's not a sublime tone and in the pocket groove. ...and can anyone tell me how to embed the youtube link in the post?
 9. Bernard Edwards - and I'm shocked that he hasn't had a mention yet

 12. Bump for additional pics
 13. Thanks for the nice comments guys. Sunday bump.
 14. Hi People, I've had some lovely trade offers but no cash buyers yet. Price drop to £870. I'll leave it up here for a while longer but will have to put it on Ebay in the next week or so. So come on - you know you want to I've reluctantly decided to sell this lovely Fender P. Great bass with a fantastic and powerful tone but I'm just not finding opportunities to play it. It's in natural ash and in very good condition bearing in mind its age. Weight - she's a heavy girl at 11.5 pounds. I'd describe its cosmetic condition as 8.5/10. There are light surface scratches on the body, a couple of minor dings on the neck and a small amount of lacquer wear on the edges of the fretboard. I've taken pics of all of these. The dings in the neck are small - I can feel them, but I'm not conscious of them when playing. The tone pot sits at a slight angle - this is because the pickguard beneath it is slightly distorted. I considered replacing the pickguard but was advised by my set-up tech against tampering with it's original spec. The only non-original bits on the bass are the bridge cover and pickup cover screws, and the pair of adjustment screws on the G bridge saddle have been replaced. It comes with the Fender case in the pics which is in good condition. Price - [s]£900[/s] £870. Courier possible but pickup preferred. I'm located in South London. Loads of pics: EDIT: A Basschatter has asked to see pics of the pots and asked questions about fretwear - I've added a few pictures of these. ANOTHER EDIT: PauBass has contacted me to say that the tone pot is a replacement. The numbers give it away apparently. He also reckoned that the replacement pot would probably make little difference if any at all from the original tone of the bass. Whether it does or not - the bass sounds terrific. Thanks to PauBass for the info and I wanted to add it here. The sale of the bass to three potential buyers has fallen through this week. How's that for luck If you're thinking about it - don't wait too long! I have also been offered some rather nice trades. I'm looking for a sale really but I will listen to trade offers. I am rather picky though as I've got all I really need, and bringing home another bass will land me in a whole heap of s*$t wiv 'er indoors.
 15.
MB1. ....Not Nice!...Spontaneous Combustion would be too Good for these Scumbags! Definately check the Cash Convertors! Any pics of this specific Aria SB model may Help!..(im in Manchester!and can check ) ....Putting Pics and the serial Numbers on your phone is always a good idea!.......
Further to MB1's advice - since my home was burgled in 2007 I'm now in the habit of taking a photo (incl serial number) of everything new I get. Doesn't stop the pain but helps with potential insurance claims.
 16.
First of all I apologize if this thread is in the wrong place. It's difficult to navigate the site on an iPod Touch! My basses were stolen while I was away from home between July 11 - July 20. Two basses were taken -- a Squier Vintage Modified 70's Jazz and an Aria Pro II SB-R 150. I don't care too much about the Squier but the Aria was very dear to me and my heart is broken because not only was it an incredible bass but it was a gift from my girl who saved like crazy to buy it. The worst thing is we are pretty much broke and we have no insurance for the contents of our home. The full serial number is unknown but starts with a 3. This makes it a 1983 model. The neck pickup has no output, and there is a laquer chip on the treble side of the neck, somewhere near the 9th fret. This chip is approximately an inch in length and maybe a quarter inch in width. Overall the bass is in great condition. If you have any info on this bass please send me a private message.
Sorry to hear that Dee and I know exactly what you're going through. Check and keep checking all the Cash Converters in your area. If you phone up you'll only get so far with them and their vigilance will go cold as the days pass. Keep a watch on Ebay and alert all the music shops. Have you any pictures of yourself with your instruments? Circulate these among the music shops and the police.
 17.
As a huge Bootsy fan I've always quite fancied owning a Space Bass of some description but the only previous ones I've seen were crazy money £3K plus for a Washburn! Even the Traben's have been kicking around the £2K mark but I spotted one at the weekend for a great price & thought I just had to have one OFFICIAL SPECS BRIDGE Traben Bootzilla Star CONSTRUCTION set neck PICKUPS five Rockfield™ pickups Fat Bass-Tard j-style ELECTRONICS 3 individual Aguilar® amplification obp-3 pre-amps custom wired for various settings BODY basswood FRETBOARD rosewood NUT chrome plated brass INLAY Bootzilla shooting star How could you resist no less than three onboard Aggie pre-amps & 5 Fat Bass-Tard pickups eh? Ok - well actually I can easily see why any sane person could resist one of these given the somewhat 'esoteric' styling Should arrive in a couple of weeks so I'll keep you posted on what it's actually like to play!
That is awesome! And somewhat scary looking at the same time. Are you going to gig with it? I can just see it on a a dinner jazz gig You've got to get the star sunglasses to go with it. My 3 year old daughter has a pair that will go with that bass nicely
 18.
The serial number is 487 & according to Dawn at Status Graphite, was made in either December 1989, or January 1990? thankyou for your interest & the 'bump' much appreciated - ta. cheers, Tim
I own 467 which is definitely a 1989. It's exactly like yours but with a cocobolo top. One sexy bass. Mine has the green laminate stripe as well - do you know what it is? Good luck with the sale, but I've never forgiven myself for letting my Series 2000 go all those years ago. Bump!
 19.
Years ago when I bought my first LMII from Electromusic in Doncaster, the guy handed me a Sandberg to try the amp with and I turned my nose up at it. Boy was I surprised when I plugged it in and played it - it was fantastic and I've wanted one ever since. A coupla weeks ago I bought this off another BCer and I love it - it's a superb bass. Hope the person who took the photo doesn't mind me using it.
I was after this bass myself but missed out due to shortcomings in the cashflow department. Gutted I was. If you ever decide you don't want it anymore I'll have a second crack at trying to afford it
