1. Bernard Edwards - and I'm shocked that he hasn't had a mention yet
 2.
is this still for sale?
Sorry - been away for a few days. Yes, still for sale Derrick
 3.
Looks lovely - that's how to advertise a bass!
...or maybe not seeing as it's still here Back to page 1 bump
 4. Hi People, I've had some lovely trade offers but no cash buyers yet. Price drop to £870. I'll leave it up here for a while longer but will have to put it on Ebay in the next week or so. So come on - you know you want to I've reluctantly decided to sell this lovely Fender P. Great bass with a fantastic and powerful tone but I'm just not finding opportunities to play it. It's in natural ash and in very good condition bearing in mind its age. Weight - she's a heavy girl at 11.5 pounds. I'd describe its cosmetic condition as 8.5/10. There are light surface scratches on the body, a couple of minor dings on the neck and a small amount of lacquer wear on the edges of the fretboard. I've taken pics of all of these. The dings in the neck are small - I can feel them, but I'm not conscious of them when playing. The tone pot sits at a slight angle - this is because the pickguard beneath it is slightly distorted. I considered replacing the pickguard but was advised by my set-up tech against tampering with it's original spec. The only non-original bits on the bass are the bridge cover and pickup cover screws, and the pair of adjustment screws on the G bridge saddle have been replaced. It comes with the Fender case in the pics which is in good condition. Price - [s]£900[/s] £870. Courier possible but pickup preferred. I'm located in South London. Loads of pics: EDIT: A Basschatter has asked to see pics of the pots and asked questions about fretwear - I've added a few pictures of these. ANOTHER EDIT: PauBass has contacted me to say that the tone pot is a replacement. The numbers give it away apparently. He also reckoned that the replacement pot would probably make little difference if any at all from the original tone of the bass. Whether it does or not - the bass sounds terrific. Thanks to PauBass for the info and I wanted to add it here. The sale of the bass to three potential buyers has fallen through this week. How's that for luck If you're thinking about it - don't wait too long! I have also been offered some rather nice trades. I'm looking for a sale really but I will listen to trade offers. I am rather picky though as I've got all I really need, and bringing home another bass will land me in a whole heap of s*$t wiv 'er indoors.
 5.
MB1. ....Not Nice!...Spontaneous Combustion would be too Good for these Scumbags! Definately check the Cash Convertors! Any pics of this specific Aria SB model may Help!..(im in Manchester!and can check ) ....Putting Pics and the serial Numbers on your phone is always a good idea!.......
Further to MB1's advice - since my home was burgled in 2007 I'm now in the habit of taking a photo (incl serial number) of everything new I get. Doesn't stop the pain but helps with potential insurance claims.
 6.
First of all I apologize if this thread is in the wrong place. It's difficult to navigate the site on an iPod Touch! My basses were stolen while I was away from home between July 11 - July 20. Two basses were taken -- a Squier Vintage Modified 70's Jazz and an Aria Pro II SB-R 150. I don't care too much about the Squier but the Aria was very dear to me and my heart is broken because not only was it an incredible bass but it was a gift from my girl who saved like crazy to buy it. The worst thing is we are pretty much broke and we have no insurance for the contents of our home. The full serial number is unknown but starts with a 3. This makes it a 1983 model. The neck pickup has no output, and there is a laquer chip on the treble side of the neck, somewhere near the 9th fret. This chip is approximately an inch in length and maybe a quarter inch in width. Overall the bass is in great condition. If you have any info on this bass please send me a private message.
Sorry to hear that Dee and I know exactly what you're going through. Check and keep checking all the Cash Converters in your area. If you phone up you'll only get so far with them and their vigilance will go cold as the days pass. Keep a watch on Ebay and alert all the music shops. Have you any pictures of yourself with your instruments? Circulate these among the music shops and the police.
 7.
As a huge Bootsy fan I've always quite fancied owning a Space Bass of some description but the only previous ones I've seen were crazy money £3K plus for a Washburn! Even the Traben's have been kicking around the £2K mark but I spotted one at the weekend for a great price & thought I just had to have one OFFICIAL SPECS BRIDGE Traben Bootzilla Star CONSTRUCTION set neck PICKUPS five Rockfield™ pickups Fat Bass-Tard j-style ELECTRONICS 3 individual Aguilar® amplification obp-3 pre-amps custom wired for various settings BODY basswood FRETBOARD rosewood NUT chrome plated brass INLAY Bootzilla shooting star How could you resist no less than three onboard Aggie pre-amps & 5 Fat Bass-Tard pickups eh? Ok - well actually I can easily see why any sane person could resist one of these given the somewhat 'esoteric' styling Should arrive in a couple of weeks so I'll keep you posted on what it's actually like to play!
That is awesome! And somewhat scary looking at the same time. Are you going to gig with it? I can just see it on a a dinner jazz gig You've got to get the star sunglasses to go with it. My 3 year old daughter has a pair that will go with that bass nicely
 8.
The serial number is 487 & according to Dawn at Status Graphite, was made in either December 1989, or January 1990? thankyou for your interest & the 'bump' much appreciated - ta. cheers, Tim
I own 467 which is definitely a 1989. It's exactly like yours but with a cocobolo top. One sexy bass. Mine has the green laminate stripe as well - do you know what it is? Good luck with the sale, but I've never forgiven myself for letting my Series 2000 go all those years ago. Bump!
 9.
Years ago when I bought my first LMII from Electromusic in Doncaster, the guy handed me a Sandberg to try the amp with and I turned my nose up at it. Boy was I surprised when I plugged it in and played it - it was fantastic and I've wanted one ever since. A coupla weeks ago I bought this off another BCer and I love it - it's a superb bass. Hope the person who took the photo doesn't mind me using it.
I was after this bass myself but missed out due to shortcomings in the cashflow department. Gutted I was. If you ever decide you don't want it anymore I'll have a second crack at trying to afford it
 10. 12. A bump for Dylan. I went to check out this bass - it's a lovely instrument in excellent condition. The blemish on the neck is quite high up and not very noticeable. More of a "pillow scar" than a dent. It sounds good too and is comfortable to play. Dylan's pictures don't do justice to the orange tint finish which is lush without being shouty. It will make someone really happy without hurting the wallet too much. Go buy!
 13.
Hi Derrick Lovely collection, just like myself youve got all the sounds covered, a jazz, a precision, a stingray, and a nice modern sounding status, nothing you cant do with those. Like the look of the gotoh, will definately get one for my precision, BTW i have nordstrand nj,4s in my jazz well worth the money i love em, my sterling has one in too, as soon as ive the cash my precision will get an np 4, good luck on the rig search sounds great what your after-all the best - lee ps - hope you like the octabass!!!
Hi Lee, Nice to hear from you! Good to have a recommendation on the NJ4s. The Octabass is all good but when I tried it out I had one of those "we're gonna need a bigger boat" moments - to paraphrase Roy Schnieder from the movie Jaws. MY PJ Flightcase doesn't really like it - the gig rig I intend to get will see the Octabass come into its own. Cheers, Derrick
 14.
I was in town only the other day, thinking to myself, "Ah, the summer brings 'em out, doesn't it...?" Anyway, back to the basses... Love your Status S2 (obviously!) - It has a really interesting top wood - What is it? Any idea? The other one that really caught my eye was the MM with the lovely figured maple top. Fantastic looking bass! How well does your 75RI jazz do the Miller sound, then? Congrats on a fab collection
Cheers mate! The Status I think is cocobolo on a cherry core. There's an interesting green "stripe" that runs between the two woods that I haven't seen on other Stattii. I'll try an get a close up of it later. The MM is an awesome bass - I bought it from BassBalls on here earlier this year. It's got a fantastic neck and just oozes character. I've always blown hot and cold on the Status. After playing the MM extensively the Status sounds clinical and sterile, but it's a great bass for improving technique on so I practice on it a lot and get back into it. I used to have a Series 2000 in the late 80s which I forever regret selling. The Jazz is getting there - I also bought that from a Basschatter. I really don't like the pick-ups on it that much so it's going to have a Nordstrand update soon. There's a killer bass in there - I've just had to strip out all the rubbish bits. My amp at the moment is a Phil Jones Flightcase and while it's good, I don't think I'm hearing the best of what any of them have to offer. I'm getting a GB Shuttle soon and then I'll be on the hunt for a Bergantino or Epifani 2x10.
 15. I've got a bit of a thing for the "natural" look Left to right: 1989 Status Series II; 1992 EBMM Stingray; Fender Jazz CIJ '75RI with Marcus Retro and Gotoh bridge; 1977 Fender USA Precision.
 16. It reminds me of the star shaped bass that Bootsy Collins has. Only Bootsy's bass has character and is strangely good looking next to this howler. It isn't a late April Fool's joke that they forgot to take down from the web site?

 18. Hi, Has anyone used/is using their EBS Valve Drive with a T-Rex Fuel Tank Classic as a power supply? Does the Fuel Tank provide enough power to the Valve Drive? The Valve Drive requires 12V AC 500mA but the wall-wart that EBS supplies it with provides 1000mA. The Fuel Tank Classic provides 12V AC 500mA. I'm not so up on electrical issues. Is just enough, enough? Or does the Valve Drive benefit from the beefier power supply? Thanks, Derrick
 19.
I've been reading some of the older threads about Ear protection and i think it's a real important subject that should always be in our minds so i thought i'd start yet another (but on a slightly different note) I've been in battle with my ER20's for a long time now. i need to be using them because i'm only young and i enjoy music production just as much as live playing and for that i really need my ears. The ER20's are very good and take the level of everything down but keep it all level and clear. But.... While i have them in the bass seams louder. I understand about head room but this thought of the bass being too loud roll's around in my head while we play and it distracts me from listening to what everyone else is playing and prevents me from relaxing into the groove. So normally half way through a jam i'll stop and be throwing them aside in frustration. Does anyone else find this sort of thing while using ear plugs? Or am i just weird? P.S. I did think that maybe it's the protection that i'm using that might be the problem. I've seen on , music radar , some custom hearing protection but they are a little expensive.
I'm a saxophone player first and foremost and I have a similar problem with earplugs. With them in, I hear my sound through the bones in my head more than my sound traveling through air to my ears, and it makes my own sound even louder and unpleasant. I hate playing with earplugs - it changes the way I hear and the the way I play, but it's very necessary with some of the bands I work with. I've never tried using the earplugs with bass yet as I don't gig on bass that much. As it's an amp making all the noise and not your physical self I'm surprised - I'll try it myself and see if I notice the same thing. I'm just about to get a pair of those ACS earplugs. They work but reducing the db level rather than blocking out sound. Other horn players I know who have them speak highly of them. I'll post back when I've receive them and have gigged with them and let you know what I think. They take about a month to be made so it wont be until the end of May. After trying everything else (including the obvious one of trying to get the band to play quieter) I thought I'd give them ago after I got thinking about all the (tens of) thousands of ££ I've spent on instruments and studio equipment over the years but only a few quid on protecting my ears.
