  1. The T-16s from Tuesday’s release have already started arriving! Happy days! It’s even better than I remembered. It tracks extremely well, it’s super subby and the new finish looks great! Tom makes some of (many of, to be honest) my favourite pedals. I’m glad he’s doing okay and I’m glad he’s building again. Long may both of those things continue!
  2. Thanks, @Sibob That really is excellent news all round. I’m not on Facebook either so thank you for the heads up!
  3. I recently bought a pedal from @andybassdoyle. The transaction was smooth, the pedal arrived quickly and well packaged and he was a top bloke to deal with. Excellent, and thanks!
  4. @Brian45 very kindly replied to my wanted ad. We’ve exchanged messages before and he’s always been great to deal with, and this pedal purchase was no different. It arrived in about 24 hours and was well-packaged. Fantastic, and thanks!
  5. It’s just meant to add transformer saturation to the tone. I’m yet to play with it too much but I think it likes being zapped with a decent amount of gain from the pedal before. I use a compressor with a transformer as part of my desktop set up so, as part of trying to replicate some of that sound in miniature, I thought I would try a transformer in line on this board after the compressor.
  6. Yep, that’s the LBA transformer. I think I got quite lucky with it in that I read that they’ve now been discontinued. Hopefully that’s just in their current form though. I ordered directly from LBA and, had it not been held up for a month in customs, it would have been pretty straightforward to get. It also doesn’t need dedicated power (it has only the instrument cable connections) so it’s great to keep under the board.
  7. Thanks for the heads up, I wasn’t aware of that and it looks great! I’m heading to a practice room tonight so I thought I could manage without a cab sim today but that’s a good shout. I have a Shiftline Cabzone Bass that has a similar function so I may give that a whirl too.
  8. I finally got around to wiring up my all-minis pedalboard. I wanted to see if I could replicate the majority of the functionality of my do-everything big board. A reverb, looper and DI are the missing pieces but I’m happy with the result and, because the boards are tiny, it would be easy to make them modular. Signal chain: signal cleaner (under board) > tuner > compressor > transformer (under board) > octave > OD/distortion > fuzz > filter > synth > chorus > flanger > phaser > delay
  9. One of the top 3 ODs that I’ve played and the one still on my board. Good luck with the sale!
  10. That’s an amazing deal for a great bit of kit. I stopped bumping my listing because I’m still quite attached to mine. It’s a fantastic all in one unit. GLWTS!
  11. That’s fantastic! It reminds me of the Strymon NightSky. Extra points for the Dobby reference too!
  12. The pedal on the right is a Gojira Ants in my Eyes Johnson (from Rick & Morty). It’s based on the mammoth fuzz. The control labelling does make it a little more of a challenge to use. @bobbass4kmy partner and I have been diving into Guardians so I should have known about Cosmo. I convinced her to watch all of Rebels too so I was pleased you pointed out your pedal!
  13. That’s fantastic! It turns out my avatar name is a character in Fururama, although my use of it predates the show’s use of it. I’m a big fan:
  14. Wow! For some reason I wasn’t expecting self-made pedals. They are excellent! I really need to up my game and get building. @fuzzonaut the designs on your pedals are fantastic, particularly the Fuzz Boxx. How did you apply them? I’m happy to go along pretending you’re not obsessed for now but you are making it difficult. @bobbass4k that is a spectacular board! Is that Laika towards the bottom left? Do your pedals do similar things or do they run the gamut? @KingBollock please post a picture if you do make A Doom Coloured Sun with an inverted Welsh beach. It may not be sci-fi exactly but it does sound interesting.
  15. I know from some very enjoyable conversations here on BassChat that some of you (not naming any names) are big Star Wars fans, and I am too. I’ve been feverishly trying to build a collection of Star Wars pedals to make a Star Wars/sci-fi pedal board (a very big thanks to everyone that has helped!). I thought it would be fun to start a thread to showcase sci-fi pedals for those as obsessed as me. I’ve put a picture of my most Star Wars-y pedals below but would be keen to see your sci-fi pedals too! I definitely didn’t start this thread because I want to torture myself by knowing what else is out there, no siree… (I suspect my regular wanted ad for a T-70 and R-1 may be expanded as a result of this). Apologies to anyone else who may have done this before. I’m not trying to usurp your thread; I’m just rubbish at using the BassChat search function. I know this thread won’t be to everyone’s taste, but to those into sci-fi, please enjoy and please contribute. Bonus picture of a Dune themed pedal to get things rolling.
  16. I recently sold a SushiBox SBVT to GR7G5TER. The transaction was smooth, payment was prompt and much enjoyable conversation was had on the way. A top BassChatter; highly recommended.
  17. Darren very kindly sold a pedal to me recently and I can't recommend him highly enough. The pedal arrived quickly and extremely well-packaged (probably the best packing job I've seen on a pedal actually!). Plus great comms and a very knowledgable guy when it comes to all-things pedals. Thanks again!
  18. I've had the Vox too and the Element is a lot more flexible. The Vox will get the job done but the Darkglass feels different quality and offers more as a practice tool, at least to me. It's robust, can act as a tuner, has changeable amp and cab sims and, most important for me, you can play bluetooth audio - all without needing any other pedal. I use Spotify to play my favourite tracks on my phone and play over them through the Element. I also used it as my desktop DI for a while. I actually have three... one on my main board for silent practice, one on my desktop set-up and another on a small portable practice board, so it's safe to say I'm a fan. On my main board, it's the final pedal so it can act as a DI, go straight into my combo practice amp, or just to use with a pair of headphones. The only thing I would note is that it can't take a battery - if that's not a bar I can't recommend it highly enough.
  19. Fantastic bit of kit. Probably my most used pedal and fantastic for headphone practice. GLWTS.
  20. Well, as part of a slightly ill-matched NPD double-header, that's that craving satisfied... My GAS is now (and has been for a while) a Cog-70 or Rogue One/R-1. Finding either is proving to be a challenge so this GAS may be here to stay.
  21. It looks like there may have been a scam over at Talkbass this morning. Just flagging as a PSA in case anyone shows up here too selling anything too good to be true. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/3leaf-doom-2.1577660/
  22. True. Perhaps another way of looking at it is too few pink basses?
