  1. Bought a Darkglass ADAM back from @ambient. Great transaction, transparent and super speedy. Great stuff, thanks!
  2. Another successful purchase from @Brucegill, this time a power supply. Super speedy and nice guy.
  3. Amazing stuff! Loving the Tarkin (obviously). I’ve been wondering about the Opti-FETs too. I’ve only ever heard good things.
  4. Possibly one for @TrevorR who put together this brilliant resource: http://walbasshistory.blogspot.com/?m=1
  5. I’m hoping I’m finally about there. There’s the odd pedal I’d still love to try (T-70!) but I’ve been lucky enough to try most of what I wanted to. Messing about with pedals is my main hobby and I like pedals for pedals’ sake though so while I have a board I’m happy with, I just love how some pedals look or sound and I’ve kept those regardless of whether they get board usage. A Beat Buddy is a great idea and I don’t think Empress have ever made a bad pedal; they are the most represented maker on my practice board.
  6. JAM make some really lovely pedals. You can't go wrong with Moose or Jam I think, so good call.
  7. I may not be able to hear you under all of the boxes. I've recently put some pedals up on Reverb and have a few more to add. They will be going up at reduced prices here as soon as I can take a group photo of them.
  8. All of Moose's pedals I've tried (Dobsky, Nomad, Sundrive and Sledgehammer) have been great. If I recall correctly, the Sledgehammer is based on the Battlehammer, and that had input from Nick Williams of Dunwich Amps. Cian at Moose also kindly sprayed clearcoat over one of my pedals that was at risk of shedding lettering.
  9. Thanks. I spend an inordinate amount of time watching Poirot and like the Celebrity Pedals naming convention so I was glad to be able to think of something suitable to tie the two together. It's funny you say that. Given most of my pedals have been in boxes since the move I've started unpacking them and putting them on boards. I have a practice board, recording board and testing board, but I've recently put four themed boards together with one more to follow (hopefully next week). I'll put photos up on the board thread if all goes well. I then have one more set of boards planned as a kind of big hurrah before finally downscaling to something approaching normal/acceptable levels so my fiancee and I can live in a house rather than a pedal fort. Haha, thanks. I'll hold you to that.
  10. Haha, thanks. If I always did NPDs I would lay bare the state of my GAS and I don’t think I or the Effects thread is ready for that.
  11. I very rarely do NPDs but I've recently been lucky enough to get hold of a few rare, weird and wonderful pedals so thought it may be fun to showcase them here. Moose Electronics very kindly put the Armada together for me. It’s a re-housed Pike Vulcan running at 18v using a charge pump, into a BOSS BF-3 and DD-3T. There is one power socket and the pedals each have their own in/out jacks for flexibility, or the far left and right jacks can be used as master jacks. I’ve used this combination a lot and love it so it’s great to be able to do what I want with one (very attractively painted) box. Watching the Poirot TV show is one of my guilty pleasures so I was delighted that Celebrity Pedals put together the POIROC-2 for me. It has top jacks and an extra LPF control. I was super lucky a few weeks ago when I managed to buy the Non-Human Audio Barbenloris. Dave’s pedals are fantastic and this lovely pink monstrosity is my favourite of the bunch. Clint at Deep Space Devices very, very kindly etched a Resurrector pedal for me showing the Nightsisters of Dathomir. I’m a Star Wars nut and I’ve been gathering Star Wars-themed pedals so I’m extremely pleased with this, especially the reactive paint (which is extremely difficult to photograph). Finally, Steen at Caveman very kindly modified my BP-1 so that the tuner-out now runs at 12v rather than 9v. This means it can power my BC1 without the need for another source of power.
  12. The Nomad is phenomenal. @Ander87 recently picked one up too. I've tried a fair few of Cian at Moose's pedals and they've all been great; so much so I expect to have another NPD in the next few days. The COG T-65 and Magic Witchfinder are the other fuzz octaves that spring to mind, and the Life Pedal, but for availability, price and just outright quality the Nomad takes some beating. if you just want octave up, EHX's POGs sound good (although a little organ-like on more settings than I would like). I've used a POG2 and I'm currently using a smaller POG as part of a bi-amping sound to get a Royal Blood-ish tone.
  13. That's a shame, particularly as you had it made. If Tom opens up custom orders again perhaps you can have something else made: Terminator 2? I've tried to be very careful with purchases; it's true that the prices on the COG website have gone up (as they have with every manufacturer because of increased input costs) but, with the odd exception, I've found people on here, Talkbass, Reverb and the like to be fair with their asking prices. There are some I wanted but just couldn't justify the expense. The pricing of custom units is tricky because there's a tension between rarity and the spec just having been made to suit a single person. Compared to a couple of years ago there are a lot of COG pedals on Reverb but the demand for them has risen (although I would say the asking price for some I've seen is still very high given current availability). Hopefully pedals will continue to be regularly released and more people will get to play them (noting here that I have hoarded mine so sorry to those that wanted to play them).
  14. When I say version numbers I mean these models. Again, I can't speak to the functional differences (if any). Version 1: https://www.gearnews.com/cog-effects-t-65-t-47-t-70/ Version 2: https://www.cogeffects.co.uk/t-70-octave.php
  15. To be quite honest, I don't know beyond the slightly different looks (I consider version 1 as being the unit with the webbing-like finish and version 2 as having the smoother graphics in use immediately before the latest monochrome models). I'm not sure whether there is a difference in the circuit. I think there was a question about whether v1 may have a v1 T-16 octave, which was a little different to the v2 T-16 but I'm not aware of having seen an answer. I'd love to play either type. I would absolutely love to have a v2 model though to complete the set of COG pedals in the immediately pre-monochrome finish though (as you can probably guess, I'm a bit of a completist - I have an R-1 on the way and at this point it's probably best for me to try to forget there are Rogue Ones floating around as well).
  16. Very true. I've been concentrating on getting the most up-to-date version of each and trying to replicate the shop page of the COG website for much of the last few years. At this point, I think I've played just about everything I was hoping to (and more!) but would be very keen to try a T-70 v2.
  17. Sadly not! I think I saw a Terminator-themed pedal being sold in Ireland but I think that sold just as I was starting the COG journey. I hope whoever has it is really enjoying it though because it looked amazing!
  18. Hi all, I’ve posted a wanted ad in the classifieds for a T-70 v2. I imagine anyone who goes on that thread regularly is sick of seeing me post about a T-70 but I’ve been on a mission to play as many of Tom’s fantastic pedals as I can over the last few years and that is the one left that I would really love to try. If anybody has one and would be willing to at least have a conversation about parting with it, I’d love to chat. I can’t offer trades in the wanted ads I don’t think but, in case I’m allowed to say such things here, I’ve got a few rare bits that may be of interest if you’re not looking to sell it. Basschat has been an incredible place to help with my COG journey so thank you to those that have helped. Here’s a picture of where the collection got to last week. I’m also waiting for one more Star Wars pedal before I can finally make that board. Cheers all (and thanks Tom!)!
  19. Lovely bass! I bought a fantastic Wal bass from @dyerseve about 15 months ago and if I had the money I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Good luck with the sale!
  20. That looks amazing! Loving the all-black look. The Nomad as the best octave fuzz I’ve played and the MBD is an absolute monster. I hope it gives you and your audience a lot of joy!
  21. Fantastic! I ordered a Cave Bear a while back after seeing your earlier posts and have a couple of his modulation pedals on the way. I’m really interested to hear what you think of this.
  22. I love the fluffy pedal. I should try to get one of those.
  23. R-1s are great! I’m surprised they’ve lasted this long to be honest. Playing them is like playing the angriest synth in the world.
  24. Touché! I’m waiting on a couple of mystery Star Wars pedals I ordered way back (the last update was late December saying they’d be in their way soon), then the Star Wars board should see the light of day! It’s still missing functionality like a compressor and a delay but I’m hoping it won’t be bad for a themed board. If anyone has any more Star Wars pedals I’d love to know! Thanks to @lee650 for getting me started and those who’ve helped!
