I hate rehearsing. Playing tunes over and over again. Pointless. A gig is worth 1000 rehearsals. If it's rough round the edges you'll learn what you don't know when in front of an audience. You can't replicate that in a practice room. Practice new tunes in the practice room, get the tunes right then gig. Over rehearsing makes everything stale.

Who is doing that? Practically every post I've seen has been from people saying why they do/don't enjoy gigging?

I'd put active pickups in it and 3 tone plus a volume control. 3 blanking plugs.

It really depends on the fault. Fuses will protect against short circuit and high current. A high resistance fault will burn the windings over a long period of time and not blow any fuses. If the amp tests as OK and then fails after a few hours of constant use this is most probably what is happening. Theoretically.

I'm sure he will have a watertight contract that says he will just provide a band. When I was married we just went with the house DJ. I wanted a band, but was overruled. 😆 To be fair, it's very difficult to find a band who play tonnes of modern tracks but aren't cheesy and can play for potentially a few hours.

It's weird. A lot of people have a lot of money and a lot of people have no money. It's not just gigs. It's lots of activities. Getting people out to anything is hard. I think the people who have found something else to do, have found subscriptions to TV streaming and box sets. My friends are always talking about this box set, that box set. My wife seems glued to the TV. I hardly watch it, I'm out most nights and most days during the weekend. I can't bear sitting at home not doing something. Online shopping and delivery takeaways means less eating out and trips to the shops. People are working from home. Some people have started to become hermits. Will take a coupe of years to get people to change from these new habits.

Depends how good you are. Can you get through a take without making any mistakes? You'll have to lay down a guide track first anyway. Will you lose energy each playing solo afterwards? How much do you rely on eye contact when playing, it's surprising how many visual queues bands use. Red light fever can be a problem, as soon as you have limited time and are paying by the hour, the pressure is on.

This is a must watch for anyone interested in the history of synth music. Thomas Dolby didn't just make music he had to create the synthesisers, hardware, and software and storage medium and file formats. It's unbelievable how much of modern music we owe to his brilliance. 43 minute lecture. Worth a watch.

If you want equipment from different manufacturers to talk to each other you need standards. Ironically, that song was recorded during the hey days of MIDI. Keyboards are still using MIDI 40 years later.

The cable for the iPhone wireless charger is a USB-C.

Possibly. My Zoom recorder has a USB mini and that's about 20 years old. Ideally pedals would be rechargeable as standard and be charged via USB. Either from transformer or a power bank. USB-C is variable voltage, variable current.

The politicians just take the recommendations of the industry standards groups. All that's happened is they've legislated to make standards standard.
