I think the time has come to sell my 1985/6 Steinberger XM2. Built in the original NYC Steinberger facility, it features a one piece graphite neck, maple body and the original EMG HBs, originally designed for this very bass I believe. It's in good condition for its age, but has some swirling and minor scratches to the finish. When I got it, the bridge pickup preamp had died inside the casing and EMG couldn't/wouldn't try to repair it and I couldn't find anyone else wanting to do so, so I had replaced it with a new EMG HB. It's the exact same spec but is obviously unoriginal. Had a fret polish, new strings and a setup this evening and it feels and sounds incredible, the neck is super resonant and responsive. Comes with the original gigbag, which is a bit worn but still functional and even some old 80s packaging Steinberger strings which are past their best but a cool bit of memorabilia. Seen these listed for 2400 online but due to the changed pickup ( original broken one included) I'm listing it a bit cheaper.

So I've been contemplating this sale for a while and finally talked myself into it..for now. This is my lovely US jazz bass. It's a bit of an oddball in that it's a transitional 1978 spec and serial but with an '83 heel stamp. Towards the end of Fender's time at Fullerton, they started using left over parts (hence the 78 neck, bullet truss and three bolt). I got this bass with no electronics and so put an EMG J-Set in it. It's had a small route under the pickguard to facilitate a battery without having to route the back. For some reason, it has a walnut shim in the neck pocket. I don't know why, I've never bothered removing it and it works perfectly fine with a nice low action and super punchy 70s tone. It's had a small neck repair just behind the nut (pictured). I've seen 78s with this same repair sell for £2400+ so pricing it at £1300 which I think is fair given it's lack of originality. Stripes are just a decal and I can remove for the buyer (but they look rad). I honestly love this bass and will be really sad to see it go.

Selling two of my jazz basses as I'm doing a bit if a clear out at the moment. Aerodyne Jazz £600: This is the DLX and so features the gotoh hardware throughout and is a particularly svelte lightweight example. Seen its fair share of gigging and has the marks to prove it (see pics), but sounds absolutely excellent. Inlay blocks are just decals from previous owner but I liked the look so kept them on. Get a Jap fender for the price of a mexi standard! Bitsa Jazz Bass £750 Bought it from BassBros earlier this year and have just put a brand new Vintera 50s Precision neck on it as I took the jazz neck off and put it on another bass. It's a mid/late 80s mij ESP body and pickups, with Schaller machineheads and roller bridge mated to a Fender MIM Vintera 50s roasted maple precision neck. It's then strung with LaBella gold flats. Sounds and plays wonderfully but just not getting the use. Body has some gorgeous flaming to it! Happy to posta s required 🙌 Happy to post either as required.

Didn't think I'd be selling this one but I need to free up some cash and have too many basses (most of which will hit the chopping block in the next few days and whichever few don't go first will stay). This is my gorgeous Alpher Instruments Mako fretless, and I absolutely love this bass. Recently had it shipped back to Alpher for a load of work as I intended to make this my perfect fretless. The work includes routing and adding the Nordstrand split pickup and new control layout (VVT + 3 way switch in the back for series/parallel/singlecoil mode on the bridge humbucker). It's a one piece sapele body, Macassar ebony board and one piece ash neck with luninlay side dots and a matching ash back plate. It also features Hipshot hardware throughout. Comes with a fitted Alpher hiscox hardcase and happy to ship.

So if you know of Viv Wilcock's incredible range of Mullarkey shortscales, this will be a real treat! Essentially a longscale Mullarkey in terms of spec, this was made by Viv as a bit of an experiment and I believe it's the only one that's ever been made! Handmade by Viv in London, it's a gorgeous lightweight alder body with somic blue finish and matching headstock, maple neck with rosewood board and Hipshot hardware throughout. It also features custom Armstrong pickups (the same as in the Mullarkey but with soapbar covers) and a push/pull tone pot for the neck pickup, making it even more versatile! It plays really well, is exceptionally resonant and sounds great. Nice condition overall but some small marks on the back as pictured. A new Mullarkey is £3k from the bass gallery now so this is a steal! Happy to post.

So recently I bought this '78 jazz and an '83 at the same time to try and see which I preferred after some long term testing rather than an hour in a shop. The '83 needed a ton of work, which I spent the time doing and subsequently I've just bonded with that one a bit more so selling this killer 1978 jazz. Now if you're wanting a factory pure 1978, this isn't the one for you, but if you want a vintage jazz you can take out on stage or to the studio rather than living under the bed, this is probably what you've been looking for! The pros: Ash body, RW bound board with blocks and a lovely straight neck with fully functioning truss rod, low action and great sound. Not a razor thin neck, more of a mid-70s U shape front to back. When it was refinished, it was given a matching headstock with gold 70s period correct font logo. Looks awesome and it's always the first thing people comment on. Tuners are original. Lovely, rich neck pickup tone (very p bass esque) and excellent, bright late 70s bridge tone as to be expected from the pickup placement. A really versatile vintage workhorse (one of the reasons I wanted it). The 'cons' It was refinished a long time ago but the good news is the finish is aging nicely as has sunken into the grain, much like an original finish would have so looks good and means you can get it cheaper! The previous owner had the neck and pickguard on another bass whilst the body was getting refinished, and they trimmed down the original guard. I still have it and it retains the serial number but looks stupid because they've trimmed it 🙄 Now it has a replacement tort guard, which fits perfectly and looks killer. Original guard obviously included. It's got a badass ii bridge on it, which obviously isn't original to the bass but plays well and obviously adds some mass to the bridge. The pots have been changed out for some high quality replacements, pickups seem original to me but no guarantee on that. I'm not really looking for trades ATM but if you have something trade value around £2k you can always send me an offer and see what I say. I am willing to post, but would want the buyer to be sure this is the bass they want first and understand it's none-original. Comes in a gator hardcase just for shipping/storage, wouldn't use it day-to-day as the handle is broken but the case does its job.

Looking at shifting my AB1 as something in particular has unexpectedly caught my eye! Really well specced, featuring a ridiculously good 4A flamed maple top, Glockenlang pre-amp, maple neck and board and painted headstock. Also seemingly inspected by Sheldon himself, which is always a nice touch! Some small signs of use as to be expected but generally very good condition, being unable to photograph the small finish dimples (no breaks through to the wood). Comes with Dingwall gigbag and happy to post. Looking for £2400
