Ashdown Mag 300 evo11 Head (mint) FS/T SOLD!
4-string-thing replied to 4-string-thing's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Sunday morning bump..... c'mon people, a chance to get one of these brilliant heads with less than 4 hours use on the clock, for at least £50 less than you'd pay in the shops! Team it up with the HH 2x15 cab thats for sale on here and you'd have a brilliant old school rig that would sound great and rattle some fillings loose for next to nothing! -
Gawd, you're a rubbish witch... Hair Restoration from the Grimoire of Odd Uncle Susan 1/2 tablespoon essence of lizard 2 newts tongues 3 toad eyes 12 dessicated cats (well, you've gotta hope!) Put the whole lot into a cauldron and boil it up in dew water colelcted by young virgins (so not in Luton) on the first night of a new moon whilst dancing naked around it. After the court case and subsequent photos, go to the local wig emporium and buy a disguise...
I've had a pint of that in The Red House pub in Coalville! -
Ashdown Mag 300 evo11 Head (mint) FS/T SOLD!
4-string-thing posted a topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
The title says it all really, I'm looking to move this on, as I bought the 600 just before christmas and this one is now surplus to requirements. Its about 15 months old and in "as new" condition and has hardly been used (2 short gigs and 1 rehearsal, less than 4 hours in total) It wasn't quite loud enough to compete with a loud drummer and two guitarists with 200w valve stacks, who insisted on using the PA for vocals only! I've since left that band and can't see me needing this amp now. Its a great sounding and looking head, it's the vinyl covered one and obviously in full working order. I'm looking at getting one of those new Squier CV precisions, so this will help finance that. I'm looking for £165 posted or £155 collected. Will be adding pics as soon as I can, Tom! -
The Mag 300 is a good, budget head and plenty loud enough into a 4 ohm 4x10 cab unless the guitarists are way too loud (usually) and you have no P.A support. This was the case with me until recently, my solution was to buy the Mag 600, use it for 1 gig and then leave the band! To this end, I have a practically brand new Mag 300 for sale if you're interested. Its in as new condition and has had less than 4 hours use (two 45 minute sets and a rehearsal) I agree with most of the others, no need for an 8x10, if you want that, you'd be better off with 2 4x10's then you could use one for small gigs and both for bigger gigs with a bigger stage.
It "seems" like the Butterscotch bass is now availible. There are a couple of guys on TB that have them on the way, and it was showing as available to buy on Guitarcentre.com (USA site) this morning, but its now out of stock.
It's on the Thomann site with a shipment due date of 22-4-11, I'd better start selling stuff to make room for mine! -

Anyone here play and gig with an acoustic bass?
4-string-thing replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
I've gigged mine a couple of times and it sounded good. I couldn't understand why it had electric bass strings on it when I bought it, so they got swapped for bronze which was an improvement. I also bought a soundhole cover, a nice fret-cut wooden affair, this cuts the feedback and doesn't cut the volume too much if I'm playing it acoustically. You couldn't use it without an amp or PA though, even at the quietest folk club! -

So nice score !
oh yeah, what were those noodles made of? and did you really have to deep-fry them? My favourite was the risotto that looked like it had bits of dog food in it! Thats a sweet bass for £25 BTW!

Newbie Question - WHICH EUB PLEASE
4-string-thing replied to itsmartin's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I sold my Stagg a couple of weeks ago to Michealg on here.... I'm regretting it already! Coming from a bass guitar background I can't really say if it felt like a real DB or not, but the quality was good and great value for the money! -
Never seen one but my understanding is that Vester made a number of copies of well known basses (and not just the usual PB & JB copies either!) in it's Korean factory back in the early 90's. It is rumoured that Fender threatened legal action and the factory/company was sold off soon afterwards. Chances are that the factory are still producing basses, but the Vester name has gone.
Do they still do those curries in little boxes? They were ace, I loved 'em!

I hope it's out before July....I've got a birthday coming up! Played one in a shop a couple of years ago..... great bass, except for....the colour! -
its amazing what some people will ask for 70's Fender bits.... There are some 1972 pup and bridge covers on ebay at the minute for £215 or a 1965 thumbrest for £139. It doesn't say if that includes the screws, but as they are shown in the pic, I assume it does! A 1974 bridge is on offer at £151.69 plus postage.....
Coalville?
Ha ha... you mean the tourist hot-spot of NW Leics? For anyone who's not familiar with the place, it really is as glamourous as it sounds! Mind you, its only a few miles down the road from me.....

I just stumbled across this thread, it's answered the question I was going to ask, ie, has anybody converted a later P body to a 50's style by filling in the routing and re-routing? I've got a Hohner P from the early 90's thats in bits and I fancy an off white brother or sister for my 70's USA P. This has inspired me to have a go!
I was surprised actually - £50 a night with breakfast included. I've stayed in far worse looking places than that over the years for not a lot less!
Actually, it is quite nice! Though 2 nights here with my G/F has cost me about as much as a week in Greece! (or a s/h MIM Fender)
I occasionally see chris leslie on the bus to work in the morning.. and drink in some of the same pubs as Dave and Chris. I'll be going back to Cropredy this year after a 2 year break..seeing fairport every year does get a bit boring after 15 years on the trott. Yeah they are a bit good though.
I've just seen Chris Leslie having a bar meal in the Red Lion in Adderbury.....
