Anyone successfully using a Mackie DLM series rig?
jacko replied to itsmedunc's topic in General Discussion
The mackie Thump is aimed very specifically at DJs so it's no wonder they're not much use as a PA. On the other hand, we have their SRM 450s and they are perfect for pub gigs or smaller venues. Lightweight and full coverage. -
despite both bands having been formed in the same year - 1972 ?
-
Suzi Quattro eh? Will you be getting the leather jumpsuit ?
-
Once my new Double Bass was actually made it took them 2 days to get it here. Better than most UK companies.

If you've oiled the fingerboard, put the old strings back on for a few days playing otherwise you're nice shiny new ones will pick up all the leftover gunk you've not been able to clean off.

I have to admit I'd not really heard of him till the gig. Hadn't looked at Kate's album notes for a few years and was expecting andy seward to be holding down the low end. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for more of Duncan in the future though.

We've been down this road before https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/301501-worst-headstocks-ever/

Saw Kate Rusby last night in Glasgow and spent most of the gig mesmerised by Duncan's playing. That's about it really.

"20 Iconic Bass Guitars" - somefing wot I did...
jacko replied to Grassie's topic in General Discussion
Struggling to see any five strings on there. Jimmy Johnson's Alembic for example. First purpose built low B fiver. -
They already made a 5 string. tried one out in birmingham in 1995 when I ended up getting an alembic instead. very narrow string spacing. That's about all I remember about it. possibly sound control. i remember it being pretty close to the Bass centre - through the railway arches.

The 2007 'expanded deluxe' version is a stereo remaster by steve hammonds and jon richards according to the booklet
-
I still play the original LP and I wouldn't say it was woolly. I also have the 2007 reissue which also seems clear enough - that came with the DVD of you by my side and hold out your hand plus the interviews. Can't see much point in this box set, especially as it doesn't seem to come with the poster of the Fish stained glass window.

Gummin the Gash. Wonder what that's going to be about.

Sigh.....this is what we're up against

Which bit of my comment are you having difficulty with? That I think he's a good player or that I don't find what he's doing particularly interesting? -

While he's a good player, it's not very interesting. I doubt if I'd stop for more than a few seconds. -
Probably. It's a heavy beast but plays beautifully.

The main thing with the titan is it has switchable inputs and switchable channels so I can have two instruments plugged in and switch each one between a clean or dirty channel. That plus a switchable overdrive on each channel and a solo boost means it has every function I will ever need. Goes down to 2 ohms too. I initially went with mesa when I read through the titan blurb years ago. Did what I wanted so I bought one second hand and played it through a couple of ebs cabs for a while. Loved the tone - very rock-centric. Then guitar guitar did me great deal on the powerhouse cabs. Made the mistake of thinking I wanted something different so via ebay and this site I've gone through all the other mesa amps I could afford but really all I wanted eas the titan. Hah! Current band is The one one seven but we don't have any gigs lined up just now. We're in the studio sunday recording so hopefully there will be something decent to listen to soon. Don't be put off by what people have said about westside. My first titan had the well advertised overheating cut out problem. Even though I was the second owner and it was over 5 years old they sent it back to california to have the upgrades done under warranty. They also gave my M9 a free checkup when I got that secondhand.
