  1. bump. Would be interested in trading for a mesa powerhouse 410 4ohm cab.
  2. looks like Mr Parfitt is a lot worse than anyone thought. Got this from ticketmaster.. "Status Quo regret to announce that guitarist Rick Parfitt has been ordered to rest for the remainder of the year at the very least following on from his heart attack and associated complications following a Quo show in Turkey on June 14th. This means, of course, that he will be unable to take part in the forthcoming ‘Last Night Of The Electrics’ European and UK tour which commences in Vienna, Austria on October 12th. Simon Porter, the band’s manager comments, “Although Rick is recovering well and is now able to lead a relatively normal day to day life, he is far from being fit enough to undertake the rigours of Quo’s touring schedule. Perhaps now is the time to reveal that Rick actually ‘died’ for several minutes directly following his heart attack which resulted in mild cognitive impairments for which he continues to receive neuropsychological support. His medical team continue to be confident of a full recovery, but Rick’s absolute priorities for the foreseeable future are for his health and wellbeing and to be able to see his eight year old twin children Tommy and Lily grow up. To this end, Rick may well have performed his last show with Quo, but no final decision will be made until next year. Regardless, it is his wish that the band continue to tour as planned and he will always be a part of Quo’s numerous other off stage activities”. Rick has given his full blessing for the band to continue to honour their touring schedule in order to not let down the fans. Until the end of 2016, Status Quo will continue to utilise guest musicians. Irish guitarist Richie Malone, who is currently playing with the band, will continue in this role at least until the end of Quo’s European schedule which concludes in Paris on December 4th. Freddie Edwards, son of Quo bass player John 'Rhino' Edwards also stepped in for Rick during some of the Summer shows. Rick will also use his convalescence period to compose songs for a long overdue solo album which he plans to record early next year. In the meantime, both Rick and the band would like to thank the fans for their continued understanding and support." Hoping he'll get well enough to see out the rest of his life happily playing with his kids. Mrs jacko is gutted - she's been in love with him since the 70's.
  3. had a listen and while it's good to hear wooten not playing his usual slap w***ery solo sh*te, I can't help but think that Dream theater do it so much better (even with mangini)
  4. Sorry, I already have way to much gear . I'd swap for a lamborghini miura
  5. ....or guitarists - they knock really loud then when you tell them to knock a bit quieter they knock even louder
  6. 78lb according to the specs. 2 foot square by 19 inches deep .
  7. Metro is now sold. Still selling an ashdown Envelope filter pedal in superb condition. £20 plus £5 postage. [attachment=227251:IMG_1145.JPG] [attachment=227252:IMG_1146.JPG] [attachment=227253:IMG_1147.JPG]
  8. I'm tempted to just say WTF! in fact I'm going to ... WTF!!
  9. Filling a cancellation at Whistlebinkies in Edinburgh tomorrow night at 10:30
  10. Alembic 5 strings - fretted and fretless into a mesa Big Block 750 with mesa 212 and 210 cabs for most gigs. It can sound quite aggressive though so I also have to option to use a fender pre-amp/QSC power amp instead of the Mesa if I want a cleaner sound. For a really small room I can take a Markbass 410 and LM 800 .
  11. Am I the only one who finds his book a load of pretentious rubbish? (love his ensemble playing BTW but can't listen to anyone's bass noodling these days)
  12. Played in a grateful dead tribute for a while and we were dead keen to get in a second drummer. Never did tho' . In my current bands I'd be happier with 2 drummers than 2 guitarists sometimes.
  13. At 16 I was a huge Yes fan (55 now) and remained so until I saw them in Glasgow a few years ago with Benoit David. Lost interest completely after that gig to the point where I haven't even heard the most recent album.
  14. My Alembics all came with Alembic strings and I stuck with them for a few changes but they are pricey so I moved on to DR's for the fretted basses and put a set of Chrome flats on my fretless.
  15. 5 or 6 times in 40 years of playing. Almost always at the point where they cross the bridge saddle. Usually the A string although I did once snap a B on my first Alembic which turned out to be a Burr on the bridge saddle.
  16. Great idea V. I usually send my old sets of roundwounds down to my bro who is a wood turner. he uses them to 'burn' lines or grooves into his work. Mrs J loves it when my upright is on display
  17. right - makes more sense seeing the picture.
  18. When I had an Mpulse 600 head, it was pretty simple to take it out of the head case by undoing the straps underneath and taking the rear panel off. The amp then slid out and was all ready to be slid into a rack.
  19. I'm guessing you mean Colin Hodgkinson. I have his Back Door albums - brilliant and unique player.
